Holiday Inn Express & Suites Twentynine Palms- Joshua Tree

I really like this hotel. I spend a great deal of time in hotels and Holiday Inn Express, but this one has to be amongst my favorites. Why? Customer service:
The front desk staff pays careful attention to detail, and they were outgoing and thoughtful.
Examples:
1.) Coming in after work on a particularly cold evening, the front desk agent made it a point to mention that there was «hot chocolate, tea, and coffee available in the dining area to help warm you up.»
2.) On my first morning visit to the breakfast buffet, I asked about turkey sausage. The buffet attendant pointed out the location of the sausages. On the second morning, she greeted me and said, «I’ve made sure to put out some turkey sausages for you.»
Yeah, that’s what I’m talking about! It’s the little things and the «human amenities» which distinguish any business.
Overall, the rooms were clean, but the chemicals they use to clean the rooms make the room smell like unwashed armpits. That’s a pretty off-​putting smell, so why not change the cleaning agents, Holiday Inn?
Overall, I would definitely be back if my travels ever take me back to the middle of nowhere desert again.

Located just a short distance from Joshua Tree NP’s North Entrance, this is one of the best bets for comfortable accommodations while visiting this desert region.

I stayed at this hotel with my family during our recent stay to Joshua Tree NP, and we all enjoyed our experience.
The hotel is located on the main street, about 6 miles from the North entrance to the Park. Across the street is a Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, and Dollar General.
Parking is free around the hotel. The customer service was excellent. I believe this 4-​story hotel is the most recently built in the area. It has the following amenities:
Gym with 6 cardio machines, a strength machine, and a dumbbell rack. It’s open 24 hours.
Pool/​Jacuzzi which is half indoors/​half outdoors and is open from 7am — 10pm.
Business center which is private and has 2 computers and a printer.
Small pantry/​gift shop
Coffee bar with tea and hot chocolate, open 24 hours.
Happy hour M-​F 5:30 — 6:30pm with snacks, juice, and sodas.
Games and television in the lobby
Free Breakfast from 7−10am, which includes; pancake machine, eggs, breakfast meats, including TURKEY sausage, biscuits and gravy, breads/​pastries, 3 types of cereal, cinnamon buns, oatmeal, milk, coffee, juice and tea.
We had a King suite, which also had a sofa sleeper. The room was large, very clean, well maintained, and had contemporary décor. There was also a kitchenette with a sink, mini-​frig, and microwave. The room had a desk and chair, iron/​board, room safe, lounge chair and ottoman, and free room WIFI with a strong signal. There was a medium size flat screen HD television in the bedroom area and the living room. The television had lots of cable channels, and 6 free HBO channels, but no PPV.
The bed, pillows, and sofa sleeper were all comfortable.
The Bathroom had a large granite counter top and sink outside of the tub/​shower and toilet. The bathroom was very clean and well maintained.
On my next trip to the Joshua Tree NP, and will be staying in twenty-​nine palms at this hotel.

This is my second extended stay at this hotel and I am as happy as I was the first time. Excellent staff, great gym, and perfect distance to Joshua Tree.

Why was I here?! It was for work.
I stayed at this Holiday Inn for 4 nights and just getting to this location was like driving through the small desert town in Pixar’s «Cars» a couple of times. There is VERY little stuff to do or go to in TwentyNine Palms, and the local community is very small. Soo small that when I went to eat at a fast food place just across the street, everyone in line knew the person before/​behind them. «Are you so-​and-​so’ wife/​husband?» «I know your kids, they go to school with my kids.» Even the workers knew the people in line, «how are you doing Mrs. Somebody?» «Your usual Mr. That Guy?»
And being an Asian male that looks like a Polynesian guy, I stood out like the Jolly Green Giant.
Anyways, the hotel itself is great. A little «oasis» in the desert. The staff was quick with the check-​in process, the room attendants were punctual and friendly, and checking out was an ease as well. My highlights were that there was free breakfast (yay for free food) and that there was AC in my room (simple thing, but in the desert, a major MUST). The food was great because even though the area was small and the choices were simple, they actually tasted good. Maybe not great, but it exceeded my expectations on quality of food =). For hot food there was Turkey sausage patties, bacon strips, biscuits w/​gravy, cheese omelet, and cinnamon rolls. Other stuff was the mini muffins, waffle/​pancake station, cereal, yogurt, coffee, and juices.
For some odd luck, I always get the room that is closest to the elevator, and usually those rooms are the ones that are designed to cater to a handicapped individual (wheel chair, older person, etc.) because my bathroom space was huge that has the bathtub with the hand-​rails on it. I my coworker told me his room only had a stand-​up shower. So I had a lot of walking space around the bed. Refrigerator in the cabinet/​dresser that had a TV on top. View from my room has a good shot of a mountain range a few miles away… but when you look down about ~100 yards away from the building, I’m looking into a neighborhood and into someone’s garage.
My only negative thing about this Holiday Inn is that the door to the room is not sound proof. So whenever someone walked by, I can hear their conversation. The worst part is whenever the next door neighbor would open/​close their door, it would sound like someone is opening up my room door. «Who’s there?! Oh k, now I’m talking to myself!»
Free wifi, password changes every few days, so I had to get a new password a couple of times.
Overall the experience at this Holiday Inn is great. If you end up in the area, for whatever reason, I would highly recommend this Holiday Inn. Will probably check into this one again in the future next time I am back in the area for work. =)

This was a wonderful hotel. We came to visit Joshua tree and watch the meteor shower. The hotel was right next to the park entrance which was perfect. The hotel was very clean and all the staff was friendly. The breakfast was very good and the 8 – 12 pm pancakes was fun snack before going to watch the stars. It had a covered pool which was nice with the hot sun. Popcorn and tea in the afternoons. It was the little things like that, made the hotel stay just that much better. We would come back again!!!

I reserved a room for one night and was offered a great deal of $ 99 for a weekend evening. Check in was fast and easy. Complementary breakfast is served every morning from 7 – 10 am. The gym, pool, jacuzzi are top notch. And the rooms are clean, comfy, and spacious. If you’re going to Joshua tree or just stopping by for work, I highly recommend this Holiday Inn location.

Had to stay for a week for work. Upon check in, I found out that the hotel was completely booked, they said that April was their busiest time of year. Good thing I already reserved online ahead of time.
My room was on the top floor, but facing the street. Not as noisy as people say in other reviews, but I guess me having the AC on all night helped drown out some noise. Room was spacious and clean, flat screen TV with lots of channels and movies, and a nice bathroom. The tub is even big enough to comfortably take a bath in. Downstairs there is a gym (not very big, I think 2 – 3 treadmills) and the pool and jacuzzi areas were separated by glass from the gym.
The dining area was cute! Breakfast boasted lots of options. Pancakes, sausages, biscuits and gravy (my fave there), fruit, yogurt, coffee, etc. Also, when I would get back into the hotel after a day at work, they had little party trays of meat, cheese and crackers out too.
FYI, across the street there is a Dollar General store, which is like a mini mart/​convenience shop, in case you need something quickly.
Staff was very polite and helpful. They were always smiling and pleasant.
Location was close to everything in 29 Palms. Tortoise Rock Casino about 10 mins away, and so is «downtown» Twentynine Palms.

This hotel NEVER fails me!!! The professionalism, cleanliness and the most friendly staff makes this a must stay every time I hike Joshua Tree National Park. I can’t recommend this hotel enough if you’re going to the park or the 29 Palms area.

My family stayed here two nights (we had two rooms total) on our mini-​vacation to Joshua Tree. I have stayed in other motels in the area before & this hotel topped them all. Reasonable prices, quiet rooms, excellent service, and a very nice breakfast (included in the price of the room). It exceeded our expectations. We even had a barbecue in the pool area on our second night (there are two large grills available) & the reception staff offered us utensils to borrow. The pool is somewhat small, but that really didn’t matter; it was good enough for our children.
If we need to stay in a hotel near JT in the future, we’re coming back here.

Conveniently located just a few blocks away from the North Entrance/​Oasis Visitor Center of Joshua Tree National Park. My husband and I stayed here for a weekend trip to the park.
The staff was friendly, check-​in was a breeze, rooms were very spacious and clean, free wi-​fi, free breakfast, free 24H coffee & tea, gym, pool… what more can you ask for? The only negative thing I could say is that the walls are pretty thin here. We could hear the neighbors and people walking through the halls so if you’re a light sleeper maybe bring earplugs? It don’t bother us because we are pretty deep sleepers but it’s pretty noticeable.
Definitely recommend others to stay at this Holiday Inn Express location. A few fast food joints to eat around the area as well as a CVS and Stater Brothers. If we take another trip to Joshua Tree we will stay here again.

Currently staying here, and being honest, I didn’t think I’d find such a nice hotel in 29 palms.
I haven’t found one negative thing about it, extremely clean, very friendly staff, beautiful rooms, very good breakfast.

Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Most importantly, the rooms are quite contemporary, clean, the bed is comfortable, and the bathrooms seem sanitary. The television has an abundance of channels including HBO channels, and a refrigerator is present. Great deal for a multi-​day stay. The only negative comment are there are no restaurants walking distance when cold out but there are some drivable within a mile. Overall, 4 stars and I will stay here again if ever in the area.

The front desk lady was very nice, funny and helpful, we felt very well welcomed.
The room was big and the bed comfortable.
When we booked the description specified a shower and a bathtub there was only a shower. It was not important to us and we appreciated the big shower, but it would be good to update the descriptions.
Everything was going well until we were woken up by our upstairs neighbours steps at 1.30am. It looks like baby elephants were having fun on our ceiling!
It stopped at about 2.15am but the rest of the night was punctuated by what sounded like slammed doors here and there.
Ceilings and walls are really too thin. My advise would be to ask for a top floor bedroom so you might only hear the neighbors from the rooms next door.

Been to a lot of hotels in my life– some high end and some not so nice– this is one of the best i have ever stayed in, especially for the price! Don’t know where to start: Clean, ecological, all amenities, coffee ²⁴⁄₇ with real half and half; wonderful food for breakfast; courteous staff; free internet; bottled water fairly inexpensive in lobby; recycling containers outside each elevator; electric outlets all over the place in your bedroom and bathroom; on and on… Highly recommended!

Excellent retreat while visiting the Joshua Tree NP. The room I’ve got (executive with king) is spacious, modern and above all: clean! Staff is very welcoming and nice. Like the complementary ice tea, coffee/​tea and popcorn! Will recommend to everyone.

This hotel deserves 5 stars for the breakfast alone.
I hate hotel breakfasts, but not this one! Oh man I am still dreaming about those cinnamon rolls. And the pancake machine? AMAZING!
The front desk lady was super quirky and hilarious. She goes «You get an amazing view of the Pizza Hut!» ha ha!
The room was standard for a hotel in this price range. Nice granite in the bathroom, comfortable beds, big TV.
We went to the pool & spa as well, which was great. They have a nice work out room next to that and it looked well stocked.

Courteous staff, clean rooms, breakfast bar was way better than expected, afternoon/​evening pop corn was very tasty.
I would definitely stay here again. :)

This is one of the best place to stay while visiting Joshua Tree National Park.
It’s super close to the entrance and the ladies working there have a great sense of humor.

We arrived just in time for game night… nachos, snacks and all the sodas you can drink.
The suite was spacious, separate sinks in the kitchen area (even a small tiny bottle of dish detergent was provided).i also like how there were different pillows provided… firm and soft.
Don’t forget to wake up for the breakfast, cinnamon rolls, biscuits/​gravy, sausage scrambled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruits and cereals… but my favorite was the pancake machine. (the secret is pressing the button consecutively of how many you want. you don’t have to wait until one finish before it starts making the next). I freakin want one of these machines in my kitchen!

oh yeah, free wifi was also a plus!
