Cowboy Attic

Remember The Phantom Tollbooth? Then I think you’d also remember Wrinkle in Time for as them being written just a year apart and all. And I won’t expound on their virtues or the difference between books then and Candy Crush now because while convenient and interesting that isn’t what you came here for.
My reference to Phantom Toll Booth is a red herring. It’s the wrinkle in time that’s in play today. Every day lately, it seems. You see, it’s been two weeks now since I set foot in Cowboy Attic and it feels like fifteen minutes and fifteen years ago simultaneously and at the same time. Wrinkle. And Cowboy Attic is full of things that shod cowboys of years back, and it in places has a little smell of a long time ago and wrinkle wrinkle wrinkle. You just pass from one to another with maybe a second to look around and poof. You’re ten years older.
I stole out to Joshua Tree the other week to meet my brother and his kid my niece who were on a desert sojourn and Elizabeth had never a proper pair of boots and it was her graduation but that really didn’t matter all she needed was to be there seeing she’s my blood and all so I got her a gently broken pair of Nocona kicks and poof. Cowgirl.
This shop located thanks to our favorite red asterisk. Seemed random to me, tucked in a shopping plaza set back off the main drag almost hid but maybe that’s just me. I’m from out of town. We drove 30 miles to get here. Once here I didn’t want to leave, the shopkeep so nice with tips and conversation and but for her we would never have gotten boots or to Pioneertown for supper so I don’t even know what to say other than thank you.
Radius check — 100 miles. i daresay it’s worth the drive even from Palm Springs because this place is real and when you’re in that other locale sometimes a little real is a pleasant break.

This is a great store if you are into the cowboy thing. I’m not, but I wanted to dress up for a country concert I was going to. I was looking for cowboy boots and hat and it was looking like I was going to drop a couple hundred bucks to do so. That is, until I cam across Cowboy Attic.
From the outside the store doesn’t look like much. However, when you walk inside, it is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. There are a lot of hats to choose from. They also have a bunch of boots as well. I was able to snag a pair of new boots for a fraction of the price if I’d gone to a retailer. My hat was brand new too. So this isn’t JUST used items. The store also has some house décor, clothes, knick knacks, and local things like 29 mugs and magnets.
I’m telling you, you have got to go into this place the next time you are driving down Adobe. I went in expecting not to find anything and walked out with boots, hat, and a sheriffs badge, and I don’t think it cost me more than $ 100 either.

Very cool place!!! Great local items as well as cowboy gear. I can’t stress how cool this place is, I’ll be back when I visit Joshua Tree National Park again soon in the future.

This place is great. Read the other reviews and stopped by. Walked out with a hard to find cowboy hat! She has me on a list for boots. I was very impressed with her shop. Very laid back and she is really nice to talk to. Milo and Otis were there and they are the door greeters… very cute and very pet able! Will go back periodically as her inventory turns over. Great place to shop! I give it 5 thumbs up!

She went out of her way to help me find a small pair of boots, I wear size 5 ½ womens which is rare. She put her fan on my little 5 month old to help cool her off. Also, they have the sweetest pug dog hanging out. They have a great selection of boots and the prices are very fair.

I was in town and Unilocaled to fined anything interesting in the area. I came across reviews for the cowboy attic. I have been looking for used boots for awhile and have made many stops in other states. So I thought I would give them a try. I expected the store to be bigger because of the reviews. But the owner was very nice and helpful. I was able to find and purchase 4 pair of boots in my size. Thank you Cowboy Attic for my awesome new boots without breaking my bank.

What a great store! My husband and I needed boots and hats for riding, and the owners were so sweet and helped us find the perfect fitting, cutest vintage cowboy boots. She says she has good luck matching people to boots and she’s right! I’ve been in stores that have 5 times as many boots and never find that perfect pair. Awesome little pug named Otis in there too. Even if you’re not into cowboy style you’ll find something to love at the store. Lots of beautiful, humorous, and unique things at reasonable prices. Great local souvenirs too. Proprietor is friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Way more than just western boots and clothes! Great 29 Palms souvineers, jewelry, cute purses and wallets, candles, and all kinds of fun stuff!

If I’m being honest, the only reason I have yet to review the Cowboy Attic is because I have my heart set on about four different pairs of gorgeous cowgirl boots and I’m living in a constant state of paranoia that some out-​of-​towner with money to burn is going to sweep through town and clean out the size 8D selection in one fell swoop.
In addition to the most spectacular array of new and vintage cowboy boots that I’ve ever seen, a very small selection of which can be viewed and purchased here:
the store sells a host of other desert delights (Jewelry, Cowboy Hats, Furniture, Western Style Leather Jackets, Handcrafted Crosses, Desert Souvenirs, and Rustic Metal Pieces). But the boots are the main draw, so to speak.
I recently dropped $ 69 for the sexiest pair of glossy tall, black vintage Panhandle Slims I’ve ever laid eyes on, and at some point soon I’m heading back to propose marriage to a pair of low black boots that fit like a dream but are $ 300, which is a bit more commitment than I’m used to having to pledge to shoes.
They may be situated a bit off the beaten path (about half a mile off of 29 Palms Highway), but this place is well worth your time and money. And, if you find yourself fisting some cowhide with a questioning expression on your face, please this keep in mind: you’ll never forget the pair that got away.
