I’ve been to a couple of gyms and this one is really focused on getting wins at tournaments and MMA bouts which speaks volumes. They could care less for belt promotions unless earned and not paid for. In order to win said events, they teach not only the techniques but the little details which make the techniques work more effectively. It’s hard to explain all of the details about this learning system they’ve developed so I’d suggest to give them a try first hand to see what I’ve been experiencing. To top is all off, everyone here is so polite and pleasant to work with. I totally expected meathead mentality but this gym doesn’t put up with that at all. Everyone here is more like the best neighbor friend that you’ve grown up with for the last 20 years. Over the last 3 months here I’ve lost 25 pounds and I’m not that big to start with. I’m currently knocking on the door to a lower weight class now at 165 pounds. I forgot the most important part, wifey approves of my results.

I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to see about trying a free class or signing up. I was disappointed to find the place empty and closed. Also, the website offers ZERO help as to when classes are bcuz all it consistently says is «There are no classes scheduled for today» HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO GAIN NEW CLIENTS IF YOU AREN’T OPEN AT REASONABLE TIMES WHEN ALL THE OTHER GYMS ARE AND YOUR WEBSITE SHOWS YOU OFFER ZERO CLASSES???

This is an amazing place to train. After relocating to Irvine, I tried out all the brazilian jiu jitsu and mma gyms in the area and Total was the best fit for me. The grappling instruction under Adriano Nasal and Juliano Prada is top notch. Both are very attentive and make sure every student gets the lesson right. Their techniques focus on simple but effective moves that translate well to sport, mma, and self defense as everything they’ve taught me so far has been applicable and useful. They believe in training hard and constantly push you to better yourself. Another great thing is they teach many takedowns and let the students start on the feet versus always starting on the knees. The students have a great mentality, friendly, and are always there to help you out or show you something.
The number of classes they have every day is staggering and well worth the price of admission. I can really tailor my training around my work and not have to sacrifice my personal life to train. The muay thai and kickboxing classes are great as well. I suggest taking the muay thai/​boxing to get your techniques down and then using the group cardio kickboxing classes to apply them and get in shape.
The facility also has many bathrooms and three showers which is a huge plus. Lastly, they keep this place CLEAN! After every class I see the staff disinfecting the mats and really going for every spot without cutting corners.

Love, love, love this studio! Can’t say enough good things. My son takes the children’s classes and can’t wait to come everyday! Instructors are amazing and staff is friendly and helpful!

This gym has changed my entire life! And let me preface this review by saying that I have never been an athletic person (until now!). This gym is AWESOME. They have everything, they do everything. It is a huge family atmosphere so everyone is friendly and just supports each other. No ego’s. If you want to change your entire body composition, attend the cardio kickboxing classes 3 – 6 times a week. If you want to be the most bad-​ass super-​hero version of yourself, try the jiu jitsu. And, if you want to do things that you never imagined yourself physically (or mentally) capable of, give the conditioning class a go. This gym is awesome.

Let me outline my top 5 reasons why I recommend Total MMA, and I’ll extrapolate further below should you desire to gain a more in-​depth insight into my points.
1. EXCELLENT INSTRUCTORS. Classes are taught by professional MMA fighters and multiple degree black belts in Jiu Jitsu.
2. FRIENDLY. The overall ambience of the gym is welcoming — staff and members included.
3. CLEAN. The last thing you want to worry about when you’re sweating it out is whether someone else sweated out in that spot an hour before you.
4. RESULTS. Every single class delivers — cardio, strength, technique, etc.
5. VALUE. Everyone wants the most bang for their buck. As mentioned, the instruction at Total MMA is world class — and that’s not an exaggeration.
If you want to hear more about my personal opinion and experience — read on.
1. THE INSTRUCTORS. I have taken all the classes offered at Total (except the kids classes! …I wish they’d let me in…) — Cardio Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Bootcamp and Strength & Conditioning. I have never gone to a class and left the gym saying, man, that class really sucked _​_​_​_​. I’ve had the privilege and honor of training with pretty much every instructor — and they are each individually stellar athletes. They’ll make sure to push you to your limits and get you working hard, so that you will leave that gym drenched in sweat and with a huge smile on your face.
2. FRIENDLY. When you walk into this gym, the staff and coaches all make it a point to know your name. Not only that, but among the membership, their is a palpable camaraderie, which only helps you in your quest for weight loss or whatever the reason might be that you’re going to the gym. When you actually like the people that you train with, and they become your friends, you sort of forget that you’re working out so hard and going to the gym becomes a joy rather than a chore. You can ask anyone around Total MMA — you’ll often see me after a class or two, hanging around and chatting with the coaches, or one of the members. We’re all one big, happy family!
3. CLEAN. I have had the opportunity to train at many gyms and I can honestly say that Total MMA is refreshingly strict about their cleaning schedule of the mats. After every single class, the mats are mopped up, ensuring that the next person to strike, roll, or grapple in that spot will not have to worry about any nasty sweat, dirt, bacteria, virus, fungi, protozoa, spit, hair, glass… etc. And throughout the gym, you will find neon green signs that exclaim — NO SHOES ON MATS! NO BARE FEET OFF MATS! While obeying this rule sometimes is difficult, it just goes to show how seriously the gym takes into consideration the cleanliness and hygiene for its members, and I appreciate that.
4. RESULTS. If you’ve gotten this far into reading my review, I’d say it’s safe to assume that you’re pretty serious about starting your fitness regimen and also pretty seriously considering joining Total MMA. Good for you! I shouldn’t have to say this, as it should be a given — but if you want results, then you better put in the time and effort. There are no freebies in life, people. Now, that said, as long as you come to class (on time), do your BEST, LISTEN to the coaches, and come CONSISTENTLY, I can personally guarantee that you will see results. I love the benefits of training in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu and I see the positive impact both sports have had in my mental and physical discipline as well as muscular and cardiovascular improvement.
5. VALUE. So I’ve told you how great the instructors are already. They’re like the Ferraris and Aston Martins of personal trainers. I’ve told you how great the facility is — it’s spacious, clean, has lockers, showers, multiple bathrooms, and it’s own free weight area with 2 Versa Climbers. You have a variety of classes at your fingertips (Cardio Kickboxing, Boxing, Muay Thai, MMA, BJJ) — at the time of this writing, there are about 72 various classes on the schedule and 13 kids classes. What other gym is there with this kind of offering? None that I know of. THAT’S value.
As you can see from my lengthy review — Total MMA is a gym that I personally recommend, and rightfully so, otherwise, I wouldn’t have taken the time out of my day to do this. LOVE this gym!!! They have GREAT workout classes for every type of person and make you feel very welcome. Find Raffi, he is so helpful and doesn’t make you feel uncomfortable if you aren’t at the same level as everyone. He’s amazing! This is the perfect place for beginners-​advanced!

This Gym is totally family oriented. There is plenty of Parking, lockers and showers are available.

Good gym for fun classes.
My complaint is for the billing.
I ended my membership after one year of commitment. Told them to cancel my membership. Was promised that they would do it & stop charging my credit card.
However, they continued to charge my credit card for another 6 months.
I called multiple times requesting refund. They promised to check into it & will send a check out every time. But they never did…
Someone working there is not being honest. I’m really sorry to say that .,

Come here for a free intro class. I had Chris for the first class and he was really helpful. He will make sure you’re doing all your moves correctly.
They also have weights here and a ring for you to fight in.

I came here for the first time after a few of my co workers recommended it. I have to admit i was pretty intimidated at first knowing so many guys and professional fighters come here. Raffy was at the front desk.(i think hes a manager) he made me feel very comfortable and explained all the different classes they offer and helped me pick the right ones to fit my needs. The personal training sessions is what really interested me. Im also excited to try the kickboxing classes. They also do free classes sometimes like women’s self defense, which is great!

Awesome training!!! Love this place. Great people, great instruction, clean mats, showers, constantly maintained facility with Tasty acai available one door over, can’t beat it.

This place is high quality martial arts studios. Led by intructors with some serious fight credentials. Juliano Prado, Adriano Nasal and Jr are here to get your ground game on point. They also have a MMA program which includes high level professional fighters.
What i like most about total is they welcome all fitness and competition levels and they really help to build you up. Its pretty cool to see UFC fighter Ernest Chavez helping a guy out on his 1^st day
Bottomline if your interested in martial arts or cardio kickboxing classes to get in shape that are led by legit instructors this is the place for you. Oh and they acai republic next door which makes the perfect acai bowls!

Juliano is the best bjj instructor I’ve had. He is motivated by creating a team of excellent BJJ players and so adapts his teaching style to the needs of his students, making you progress faster. Beyond that his BJJ style is effective, and while he knows all of the bjj techniques, he prefers to focus on techniques that work in practice, and in competition.
Also I lost 20 lbs and put on muscle since i started training.

The best place for training period. Total mma has it all. If you are looking to get a great workout, learn a new discipline or train to compete you will find it here. Friendly instructors and staff.

Prof. Juliano teaches an amazing women’s BJJ a class on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The co-​ed classes are fun, especially Josh’s Sunday classes.
The kids have an amazing program.
Melinda teaches a very intense, high caliber kickboxing class.
All of the classes offered at Total MMA, whether they are wrestling, boxing, MMA, BJJ or cardio classes will make you work. You will sweat. You will feel powerful. You will get fit. You will get addicted. It’s the greatest feeling to be a part of a wonderful school whose trainers are world class and the environment is like a family.

Absolutely love this gym! My brother goes here for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and recommended I come here for some good fitness and fun. He’s been with them for a few years now, so I figured it must be good. It took me a while to get started on it, but once I did I couldn’t stop coming back.
PROS:
–Like everyone before me mentioned, they have a LOT of classes, so you can come in at anytime and take your pick of your Martial Arts class for the day. They have an abundance of classes scheduled throughout the day, so if you can’t make it to the Monday-​Friday morning cardio kickboxing class at 7 AM, you also have the noon class, the 5:15 class, the 6:30 class, and the 7:45 class. Can’t make it during the week? Well, they have 9 and 10 AM weekend classes too. Talk about accommodating! The same goes for all the other classes as well.
–It seems like every time I go in there they have a bunch of other classes going on but without the distraction.
–The place is HUGE, so jiu jitsu is performed on one side of the gym with a wall barrier while the other classes are separated on the other side. It’s very organized on the inside.
–There is one ring now, a butt-​load of punching bags, and if you just want to do some weightlifting, they have bars and free weights for you to use at any time too. This includes a VersaClimber and a treadmill.
–Not only do they have cardio kickboxing and jiu jitsu, but they offer a variety of cross-​functional martial arts classes like muay thai, boxing, MMA, wrestling, and they even have strength and conditioning classes (likened to Crossfit) 3 days a week.
–Very kid-​friendly: The most kid-​friendly out of all the gyms I’ve encountered. I’m not a parent but if I were, this would be the gym to go to. you can do jiu jitsu with the kids, or they can sit and watch you.
–Women-​friendly: They offer jiu jitsu classes specifically for women (tues/​Thurs 7:30 — 8:30 PM). So, ladies, if you’re ever intimated working out with men, you no longer have an excuse.
–Great staff: Bryce, Chris, and Christian are really good at correcting my form and making the classes fun yet intense. Prepare to sweat your @$$ off! They’re also very personable are are professional fighters, so they also teach in a way that is safe and hardcore.
–Friendly staff: (Adriano) Nasal says HI to me every time he sees me. In fact, all the instructors are very inviting to talk to and really like to encourage your participation in the different types of classes they offer.
–3 showers! No need to wait inline after class to freshen up for that date!
–3 bathrooms, possibly more. They also have 2 water fountains if you didn’t bring your own water.
–Sanitary: They really clean up the mats here after every class and makes sure everything stays sanitary and safe. You don’t have to worry about working out in a pile of someone else’s sweat!
–Class sizes are intimate and a good size overall, so you get the attention and the social aspect of working out.
–Parking is plentiful and easy.
–All the fit people walking around really motivates you to try harder and do your best
CONS:
–Their MMA class is molded more for professional fighters, so if you want to get into REAL MMA you’ll need to go through CKB first, then Muay Thai or boxing, and THEN MMA. It’s a FULL contact sport, and the guys you’ll be training with are pretty intense, so you’ll need to learn through the other venues before you can attend the MMA classes.
CONCLUSION:
Get your butt to this gym! You’ll see it grow in a good way!

This has been my gym for about the past year. Its definitely one of the best I’ve ever trained at.
They have the most classes I’ve ever seen for a gym of this type. Early mornings, afternoons, evenings all covered.
The range of workouts is fantastic, if you want a cardio kickboxing workout they have those almost every hour. There is boxing, mma, wrestling, brazilian jiu jitsu, strength training, muay thai, pretty much anything you need to round out your combat sports.
Juliano & Adriano do a fantastic job of leading their students to success.
Because of the wide range of classes you always have a multitude of training partners to work with at various skill levels. Most of them are more than happy to help & make you better in whichever area that you wish to improve.
