Ronald Cotliar, MD – Cotliar & Lee Mds

I like dr. Cotliar but he has yet to actually «cure» any of the multiple ailments I’ve gone to him for. It’s frustrating to go back over and over for the same thing and more so when that’s true for multiple different things. I think he just goes too fast and doesn’t get to the root of the problems.

Dr. Coltiar is the best! Every winter my eczema has flare ups and Dr. C always provides relief for my discomfort. I highly recommend Dr. C!

To be fair, this review is based only on the attempted appointment call, not on any medical procedure, which I elected to go elsewhere for, BTW.
Attempted to call in an appointment on 11/​18/​2015, around 11:45am, only to be told rather abruptly that appointments aren’t being taken until after 1pm. No formal greeting. No apologies. Not even an inquiry regarding the reason for the call, much less the reason for the possible appointment. Not a good sign for the level of care to be expected here. Good day, ma’am.

Dr. Cotliar is awesome. He took the time to really get to know me. He is incredibly knowledgeable and explained everything so that I could understand it. He is old school and spends time with you unlike most doctors these days. His office is very professional and his staff is helpful and friendly. He was on time to the minute! I highly recommend Dr. Cotliar!

Since 1987 I have been a patient of Dr. Cotliar. He was the eighth Dr. I had seen for severe excema inflammation on my hands, by the time I was in the lobby my hands were swollen, cracked and bleeding. (I still have the scars). It was so bad my mother had to bathe me, as a teenager, well, let’s just say, it doesn’t get much worse. Within moments of seeing me in pain, Dr Cotliar provided me with an injection that finally relieved my distress. In recent years I have moved over 80 miles from his office and have seen another dermatologist in my area with disappointing results. I will not make that mistake again. I will always see Dr. Cotliar for any and all my skin care procedures or concerns. On this last visit I called Monday morning and advised I was in urgent need of an appt, I was scheduled within 24 hours.
Dr. Cotliar knew exactly what my condition was and even described my ailments and discomfort. I was provided with a prescription and a detailed treatment plan before leaving. Happy to add, I’m already on the mend and relieved to be feeling better.
I highly recommend Dr. Cotliar.

I went in for a rash on my face and had a mole that was bothering me removed at the same time! Super fast service and excellent bed side manner :)

It has been 3years since I have seen Dr. cotliar. He was the Dr I visited out of my network because it was my last resort. I knew he was my last resort when two of my clients back to back recommend him. In 24 hours my condition was 90% better. He spent time with me to understand the cause of the problem. He his wonderful! I tell all my clients about him!

First time I went to him was because my newborn suffered severe head to toe eczema. So heart breaking to see ur newborn scratch up his face and head and any skin his lil tiny hands with razor newborn nails to the point he would bleed and puss over from the scratching. All the Pediatricians say use aquaphor and steroid cremes. Nothing really helped him. So I decided to find a pediatric Dermatologist and in the Oc there were only 2. dr Cotliar in Tustin and a new female physician fm uci medical. I choose dr. Cotliar bc he was well experienced in years. For one, he saw my child and said don’t use aquaphor bc t only covers as a barrier and doesn’t help the skin inside. He showed me techniques such as aveeno oatmeal bathing powders to use, use aveeno lotions and creams, a steroid oil to use. And a technique to wrap a wet gauze and cover with our socks the we cut the bottoms off so baby won’t be cold. Finally ! Our baby was doin amazing with all his advice. He may take only a few quick minutes to see u at the appt but that’s all it takes for him to give u the healing power u need. Highly recommend him. U have to go to a specialist for skin issues. Reg docs just don’t know well enough. Thanks doc!

My review is long overdue, Dr. Cotliar is amazing! Over a year ago I had been suffering from itching skin that really was severe. I would wake up in the middle of the night in pain and had scabs all over my legs and arms for months. I saw another dermatologist who misdiagnosed me, went to the ER when I was in so much pain and was incorrectly treated, and an urgent care all costing me $ 3000!!! I was at a loss of what to do and with no insurance I was struggling financially. A friend referred me to Cotliar after having an amazing experience himself. Cotliar knew exactly what my problem was literally within minutes. After following his instruction I was better within 2 days and now manage my chronic hives and my skin is back to normal. I’ve since sent a friend to him and she’s had a positive experience as well. He is super friendly and funny as well. Highly recommend him as a great dermatologist.

I really love this dermatologist. He is quite a character! But, he really cares about me and my skin and takes time to listen about the issues I am having. On my last visit he said, «In the old days, we would have given up on your skin. But, we are not going to give up, Lauren. We are going to find the perfect solution for you». I just love that he said that and gave me hope.
Everyone else who works in the office is very nice. The girls who work at the reception desk always remember me and make conversation. I love his assistant nurse (i think her name is Evelyn but I could be wrong. I just remember her as the really nice woman who comes in after Dr. Cotliar leaves!)
I have called in between appointments for help with my skin and they are always quick to respond and get me something to help.
The only bummer about this doctor, he does not accept insurance! Have to bill my insurance company on my own to get reimbursed for the services.
