Love this salon. Love Taylor Main. She does a very thorough consult to make sure she understands exactly what you are looking for. She really wants to make sure you get exactly what you want and I appreciate that so much.
Taylor is creative, sweet, talented, and very precise.

So, I came here the other day and my appointment was with Chris. Amazing work. Chris not only gave me a great razor cut, but he conditioned, colored and high-​lighted my hair which of course made it come out better looking than it has in years. He used some products that I bought, that I have since used and they work perfectly just as if Chris was using them on my hair. My hair really needed attention and Chris knew. I think there prices are competitive.

If you’re looking for a new style, or want advice on trying out a new look, J Ludwig Salon’s Chris McCabe is your guy. I’ve bounced from hairstylist to hairstylist for years… but after getting a recommendation from my esthetician to go see Chris, I don’t think I can go to anyone else! He is absolutely the best! :)
My hair has always been fairly low maintenance — shorter in the front, longer in the back, with a few layers… in other words, nothing complicated — until earlier this year when I got a rather disappointing A-​line bob (from another salon). I was unhappy enough with my hair that I figured it was a good time to go for broke and try out a pixie cut (it couldn’t be any worse than the situation I was dealing with at the time).
My one caveat was that I wanted to work with someone who would actually cut to my features, and who wouldn’t cut my hair like a celebrity’s just because I thought it might work for me. Chris seriously delivers! He refused to cut my hair as short as I thought I wanted it (he was right, it wouldn’t have worked), and made sure to show me how to style it when he was done.
This haircut was a really drastic change for me, but I don’t think I’ve ever gotten so many compliments on a cut in my life! I never really thought that I’d keep my hair short for too long, but I think I’ve found my new style.
The prices completely reasonable (not only for the area, but also for the quality), and the service is absolutely wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about Chris. His passion is the artistry of hair, and his love for the craft clearly shows.

My husband and I found Chris McCabe in LA, where we live. Sadly for us, he moved to Tustin over a year ago and joined JLudwig Salon. It worked out well after all — we make the trip to see Chris every six weeks or so, because he is the best. I get blonde highlights, an awesome cut and he gives my husband the best hair cut too, every time. His consistently excellent work is priceless. The salon has a good vibe and great owners. Parking is easy too.
I tried the Cellophane conditioning treatment for the first time this weekend and I love it! My hair is extra shiny and smooth, feels amazing. It is a $ 35 treatment that lasts 4 – 6 weeks.

I give this salon Carte Blanche when I go in for a cut and color. The only guidelines I give are something fresh, and far from ordinary. They take it from there and I always leave loving my new look.

A good friend told me about this salon and I decided to give it a try. Jeff. the owner, is just amazing! He *knows* hair — and more importantly, he shares his knowledge with his team. My first visit took more time than I thought it would because he did a really thorough evaluation of my hair. The outcome — I had a hair cut but I didn’t have a hair style.
Jeff made some recommendations to me and he said it’d take about 9 – 12 months to grow it out so he could ultimately make it what he thought would be good for me. He came up with a great transitional haircut and color — the compliments I got were really astounding.
After almost a year, I took the plunge and went red (the color he said would look best on me) and let him do a «wild» style on me. I’m posting photos so you’ll see it’s not too wild — but it really is gorgeous. I have extremely thick hair and if the cut isn’t precise than every flaw shows. After he cut my hair, another stylist stopped me at the mall and asked me who did my hair — she said it was the most precise cut she’d ever seen.
The cost is a bit higher than I used to spend (cut is about $ 80, color is about the same, and so are highlights). My last cut, color, and highlights were $ 210 — but well worth it. The quality of the color, the highlights, the cut itself, the team that spends quality time working on the hair… no comparison to a cheap cut.
I will say this — one other thing that I appreciate about this salon is that they consistently run on time. And, if they’re running behind they do contact you and let you know. My time is important to me and I just hate sitting around waiting — they do take their appointments seriously and that’s something that, as a busy mom, I find particularly thoughtful. You should make an appointment in advance — they will offer to do a reminder call (I always appreciate that!)
I also want to give a shout out to Taylor — she’s worked with Jeff for a couple of years and she usually assists with my color. Hands down I would go to her if Jeff wasn’t available.

Very happy to have found this ah-​mazing salon. What you won’t find is fake. And nothing is hidden or suprising when you get your bill after the appointment.
First off, when I made my appointment the receptionist was great at assigning me a hair stylist based on the info I gave her, I got Chris and he was PERFECT for me. She was also honest about the prices up front (without me asking) but it was done in a smooth, heads up, just so you know what to expect kind of way. (The prices are right on for what you get)
The salon is more like a high end saloon. The large framed mirrors in front of each station, the swinging doors to the color station room and the sturdy supply dressers are classy not trashy and it makes the experience comfortable. I didn’t have to worry about bright salon lights. The big floor to ceiling windows were great for the perfect natural light to come in.
Why I loved Chris? He knew what cut I had previous to my visit. For me that was awesome, I needed someone who knew what they were doing and what he is working with. He asked and delivered for what I was looking for and he didn’t thin my hair with a razor (I didn’t have to ask either)
The owner Jeff was very entertaining and Taylor is a sweetheart. The styists work well together and the fact that they mesh so good really made a great impression on me. Chris laughed so hard at Jeff’s joke it made everyone giggle. Looking forward to my next visit!

Chris McCabe is a master artist when it comes to hair design and color. I am always nervous and skeptical when trying out a new stylist. But when I met Chris he instantly put me at ease with how knowledgable he was about everything when it came to my hair. And ladies lets just say I have the most baby fine, thin, ridiculous super straight hair. He has transformed my hair from dull, damaged, lifeless hair to AMAZING!
I have never been this happy and in love with my hair. I will never go to any other stylist!!! Give him a try you will NOT be disappointed.

I just had the best facial of my life from Tracy. My skin had gotten so dry. No matter what I tried, I could not get the flakes to go away. Today, my skin is so smooth, fresh, and young! Also, she has the most wonderful touch! I became a puddle of goo due to her magic fingers. She knows just where to massage and communicates in a gentle way so not to pull me out of my state of utter relaxation. I recommend Tracy to the highest degree!

Chris Mccabe is awesome! His work is amazing and I won’t let anyone else touch my hair from now on. I’ve had the same hairstyle for years and I wanted to switch things up and do an ombré look. It came out great and I’ve gotten so many complements!

I loved my haircut here! I happened to get a gift card for the salon and thank goodness I did! Chris was an amazing stylist but best of all he was honest with me about my hair and the cut and I felt very confident in his ideas to help my hair be the best that it could be! First off, the salon is adorable and the owner Jeff is hilarious. It’s a very cute, clean and comfortable atmosphere and I always look forward to my appointments.
More importantly, Taylor is hands down the best stylist I’ve ever had. Whether I tell her exactly what I want or am completely clueless and tell her to just surprise me, she always knocks it out of the park. She understands hair, she knows my style and she has a signature blow dry that still amazes me every time. I’ve been a loyal client for over 4 years now and will continue to be for as long as she’ll have me.
Oh ps, she also does waxing and does a phenomenal job on my eye brows as well.

I have been coming to J Ludwig salon now for over 5 years and absolutely love Jeff! He saved my hair from a horrible experience that I had at another salon. He brought my hair back to life and color corrected it so that it wouldn’t do any damage. He is one of the sweetest guys, takes his time, and always gives me a fabulous cut! I also love his assistant, Taylor. She too is fantastic. It’s a great experience all around and they know how to treat their loyal customers.

For me, I’m not always sure what I want (other than a low-​maintenance and easy to manage), and I don’t have a clue what looks best on me, but the great thing about Chris is that he has a clear creative vision of what works and what doesn’t, and is always mindful of bringing out the best in his clients.
At my first session, I walked in with hair down to my waist and a picture of Katie Holmes’ medium layered bob for her 2009 cover of Elle Magazine, not exactly sure what to expect. But I felt at ease when Chris took the time to analyze the texture of my hair, the way it naturally falls, my skin tone, my face shape, and over complexion (and who knows what else) to come up with a great hairstyle that really suits me.
I even love my haircut and color weeks after my session with him. I still get tons of compliments from my friends, family, coworkers, and anyone else around me.

I’ve been getting haircuts and weaves from Jeff Ludwig for almost 10 years. Ever since my friend recommended Jeff, I have not let anyone else cut or color my hair. I usually don’t know what hairstyle I want, so I let Jeff come up with his suggestions, and I trust him to do whatever he recommends. I am always happy with the results! He treats his team like family and the salon has a relaxing atmosphere. Taylor is Jeff’s Assistant and she is so friendly! They work very well together and I love how she blow-​dries my hair after the haircut.

I saw someone with fabulous color & cut & she said she goes to Jeff at this salon. So I came in about 6 months ago & am so thrilled, I drive from So. County regularly to this salon. If u want to be a little adventurous with color or cut, just say the word & Jeff will make your hair fun & edgy with his great ideas.
I get lots of compliments on my hair & have referred a few people.
To top it off, everyone is so friendly & happy, it’s a treat to come in. They are definitely stuck with me!

I just moved to Tustin from south county. I had been loyally seeing someone for nine years, but I just couldn’t do the drive down south. I stumbled into J Ludwig and met Chris McCabe. I have no qualms about spending money on my hair when it’s worth it. I thought I would give him a shot, as he was super personable and confident. I went in for color, as I had not treated my hair in about five months. Chris said he was a genius with color, and I was anxious to see if he was right.
I actually did not have a clear idea of what I wanted; I just knew I wanted a fresh look. Well, my dark, summer beaten, dry hair turned out looking like I was Eva Mendez. I am not joking. My hair is the best color I have EVER had it. It looks so natural, even though Chris highlighted it. I am so incredibly pleased, an it was worth every penny.
I also met Rafael, the masseur, and he was the nicest, most gentle individual. He gave me a complimentary neck and shoulder massage in the lobby and I left the salon feeling like I had left a day spa.
Oh, and the owner was super cool too. He was very warm, hospitable, and funny.
I will definitely be making this my new salon. Hands down, Chris is the man!

All I can say, it is definitely worth the drive to come out here and request Chris Mc Cabe to be your stylist! Been to several salons out my way over the years and haven’t quite found the right stylist to cut my hair the way I like it and to have it look good after its grown out a lil bit. So yeah, I used to go to Chris before he moved away and now he’s back and I’m so happy with the way he cuts and styles my hair!
I have fine hair and Chris knows my hair and he made it look full and shiny with sexy long layers. I have gotten so many compliments about it already and I just got it cut yesterday!
Chris also knows color and I’ve had him color my hair often in the past and again my friends would rave about how well it looks. He did suggest highlights this time, but I was short on time and really just wanted the haircut this time. I love the way it looks on me and so do all my friends!
