Amit Shah, DDS – Tustin Smile

I scheduled an appointment for teeth cleaning. The hygienist suggest that I have a deep cleaning, I said I don’t want to do the deep cleaning. Then she left, then the front desk girl came in said if I don’t want to do the deep cleaning then they would not be able to do service for me, because their license in on the line. I said I understand and I will sign the waiver for deep cleaning, just want to do a regular cleaning this time. They told me no. I was refused by them because I don’t want get the deep cleaning and willing to take responsibility for myself. I couldn’t believe they refused me.
It is very disappointing. I have been here for over 20 years and have never had a dentist refuse to clean my teeth because I did not want the painful deep cleaning! I have really good teeth, maybe not their standard. Regardless, my experience was speechless.
The stuff was not friendly at all. I have never Unilocaled anything, this is really terrible service.
And, I am not a new walk ins.

I scheduled an appt. With this dentist after having such bad luck in finding one that puts the patient first and treats them with patience.
I walked into this office and immediately detected an unfriendly ness with the front staff. They asked me to fill out a form which was half a page and then proceeded to escort me into a room that had a desk with a computer. They insisted that I put all my information on the computer and sign. The female staff was hesitant to answer questions for me and all she was interested in was how I was going to pay for services that I was going to receive that day. She told me false information about my insurance. (i called them after the experience to clarify and they had to call the office to explain the coverage that I have) The female staff wascextremely rude. I believe the dr. was in the background and witnessed the interaction but did not intervene. I got up and told them I was going to check with my insurance company. I then asked for the paper that I filled out since I didn’t receive any services. They refused to give it to me stating «it was theirs». I told them I did not want them to have my information and they FINALLY relented.
I know I had to pay a copay for the visit but the way I treated was very disrespectful. She had no patience with me and expected me to tolerate her attitude. If they are providing a service for me I believe they should be more accommodating and respectful for the patient.
I have never written a review before
but this experience was quite traumatic and it warranted a comment.

Absolutely horrible, my filling came out in a month. They are money hungry unprofessional. They collect money from you while you are sitting in the chair right before they start working on your teeth.
Do yourself a favor stay away from this dentist.

Just had my front teeth filled in due to my front two teeth having a small chip. I got it filled and polished with no pain. I got recommended to come here through a mutual friend and I would tell everyone I know to come here as well.

Dr. Shah is the best. He worked with my insurance the best way possible to maximize my benefit. He and his staff stayed later into the evening after the office closed to finish my front teeth so I could leave with a smile. He gave me several options from financial and long term teeth standpoints… I’d recommend him and his staff to anyone for dental and complicated teeth work. He even has humor (debatable) and will make you laugh and feel comfortable!

This place is awesome! I somewhat stumbled across this place in 2010 when I was having wisdom teeth problems. I didn’t have insurance at the time and hadn’t been to a dentist in years. Dr. Shah was incredibly kind, very gentle and has been my dentist ever since. I’ve had a lot of work done here and they always work with me on payment plans and scheduling. I have since taken my wife and my parents to see Dr. Shah as well.

Dr. Shah is the best dentist I’ve ever seen, and one of the nicest people I have met. It is so clear that he truly cares about his patients, and he always goes above and beyond what most dentists would. He doesn’t overcharge, nor does he charge for little things just to make more money. You can tell that he is passionate about what he does; it comes out in his interaction with patients and in the work he does.
I never thought I would write such a glowing review about a dentist — but, I never thought I would have such an amazing dentist!
Dr Shah is the greatest. I HIGHLY recommend him.

My mothers amazing teeth Dr. Shah put in all fell out. Again. This time in pieces. My mother after 4 yrs of all this bs now has dentures. Dr. shah has not refunded her money and told her it would be thousands more to proceed. My mother is in the beginning stages of the lawsuit. It will be difficult because it’s almost impossible to sue a dentist. Although she does have records of her million visits back n fourth & lost 60lbs at this point. Skin and bones. What a tragic experience for my mother.

I was in need of a new dentist for some time. My long-​time dentist actually died of cancer a few years ago so it has been a matter of finding a great referral and trying someone new. However my wisdom tooth didn’t allow me that privilege! I woke up in so much pain and needed help fast. I found Dr Shah on google and after hearing he could fit me in same-​day that was enough to give it a try.
He not only took me on for a free consult, he went ahead and extracted the problem tooth right on the spot. I was so relieved to get immediate assistance. And he was kind, comforting and answered all my questions. I’ve never even had a cavity before so I had plenty of (probably stupid) questions and he had such great patience. He took care of it all so quickly and painlessly. He showed concern for my comfort levels, was thorough with each step and what to expect.
I can’t wait to start referring him to friends and family and to go back again for cleaning, X-​rays, etc. I highly recommend him and his friendly staff. What a relief to find such a nice dentist :)

Dr. Shah is great, explains everything and does not rush you. They have a tv infront of every exam table that connects to the computer so you see all your xrays and photos right away. He shows you a video before each new procedure youre having and answers all of your questions before he begins. He has consideration for concerns brought up and works with you, makes sure you are comfortable. The lady that took my xrays made me nervous because she was touching practically everything with the same gloves she was touching me with and i didnt see her wash her hands so it freaked me out but i just kept hoping it was over fast so Dr Shah could come in because I had heard so many great things about him. I’m not one thats fond of dentists and as an adult ⁹⁄₁₀ times i walk out in tears. For me to say Dr Shaw was great, I trully mean it.

He did a great job. Enjoyed his office and staff. He explained everything to me in detail as there so answer any question that I had. Glad I found him. Gave me great service.

I did not care for this office at ALL. Was a new patient so they took x rays. Ok I get it. Tech gagged me with the film. I pulled it out myself because she wasn’t fast enough. Dr. (Not Shah who I heard is amazing and isn’t this guy who doesn’t happen to be advertised anywhere sneaky sneaky) tugged at my cheek to work on an existing filling that he said «was not the right color» and that he «could make invisible.» He also filled something else on the same tooth. Assuring me it had to be done. This is all after I heard actual Dr. Shah essentially bully an elderly patient into a service without much time to think or process the info she just received. Which, by the way I could see her tv screen and she could see mine. No privacy! The chairs were set up like a barber shop. In hindsight I should have left early on but I learned my lesson. I called my old dentist and apologized for cheating. I will not put myself out of a good practice for weekend appointments. NOTE: I called Dr. Shah’s office after my appointment to cancel the follow up they scheduled immediately, give them the courtesy of letting them know I was dissatisfied, and request a copy of my full dental X-​rays – I was assured I’d have a call back within the week to make arrangements. Still nothing. Do yourself a favor avoid this place. I will not refer anyone here ever!

Best dentist visit ever!
Found Dr. Shah online. Called to make an appointment for my daughter who needs her wisdom teeth removed. Got in the next day.
Dr. Shah and his entire staff are super friendly. He is one funny guy. My daughter is frightened of dentists and even she was happy when we left and said it was a great experience. The 2 young ladies at the reception were also super sweet!
We have no dental insurance. I had a general idea what the procedures would cost from asking around beforehand and Dr. Shah’s proposal did not disappoint. He even let me make payments over 12 month — interest free. I can certainly recommend Dr. Shah.

Dr. Amit and his staff are awesome. I came in two Thursdays ago. They found room for me in their tight schedule and extracted a broken tooth. I was really distraught about losing the tooth but Dr. Amit’s staff comforted me. Dr. Amit did an amazing job pulling the tooth. He told me what all of my options were but he did not pressure me into additional procedures. It was overall a very pleasant experience!

Dr. Shah and everyone in the office is great! They really make you feel welcomed and worry free. I have gotten multiple procedures done with Dr. Shah, from minor to more in depth, and it always went well. Pain was to a minimum. The office is very clean and sanitary. I highly recommend any of Dr. Shah’s offices.

I was referred to Dr. Shah by 1−800-Dentist. Dr. Shah is awesome. Very gentle, very open and explains everything. I don’t know what people are talking about below with dirty, leaky offices or ghetto staff. Everyone is on the up and up and the office is clean, comfortable and everyone pleasant and helpful.
I moved to LB from Tustin, changed dentists and am back at Dr. Shah. Dr. S fixed the new dentist’s screw up and at no charge (to me or the insurance).
Sometimes the visits run a bit long but it’s because Dr. Shah meets and checks each patient and works with them individually. he doesn’t pass anyone off to a hygienist or assistant.
Great dentist and I highly recommend.

I have been going to Dr. Shah for the past 3 years. He has extracted teeth, done deep cleaning, and filled in cavities. He was friendly and took the time to answer all my questions. I usually like to know what is going to be done and why. His staff (especially Maira) are very helpful. Especially when it comes to dealing with my pesky annoying insurance. They usually call for me and tell me what is cover and what is not covered. That saves me time in not having to call myself.
However, this place is a little dirty. Throughout the three years I have seen improvements. They are starting to clean up a little more and update their equipment. I’m also always weary if the doctors’ assistance change their gloves and things they touch once they have their gloves on. Staff needs some training in not touching things once they have their gloves on. Other than that I am happy with the services here.

Pls. do yourself and your pocket a favor!!! Do your homework and make sure you research extensively on your dentist’s educational attainment, experience and patient reviews. My insurance had to call them because they found out that they wer ripping me off BIG TIME!!! And yes I’m a real victim… errrr…patient of his and his wife. not some staff member or dr. shah himself (who knows) so unlike his cohorts, my posts are real. i know others who were victimized by his unprofessionalistic, cheating parctice too. this is why he’s able to maintain 3 offices because he burns your pockets!!!

I’m a patient of Dr. Shah at his office on 17^th Street in Tustin.
Dr. Shah is always nearby and checks on my progress throughout the procedures. His chair-​side manner is calming and really takes time to get to know you. My last dentist spent a minute with me, before and after his assembly line workers did their jobs.
I have two bridges and a crown that are over 15 years old. All are cracked. Both bridges span three teeth. Years ago, when I didn’t have insurance I had a choice of $ 75 to extract a tooth or $ 750 to crown it. I foolishly had teeth pulled.
The current bridges, I have two (capped tooth, suspended tooth over the extraction, connecting to another capped tooth), cannot be replaced with another spanning bridge. The sinus (bone loss) from the extracted tooth is too deep. I was given many choices to resolve the problem. I came to the conclusion that the caps will be replaced but the extracted tooth would be replaced by an implant. After our consultation, a Treatment Plan was presented. No other dentist or doctor went into this much detail. Once we agree upon a treatment plan. I was offered several methods of payment.
Because the sinus was deep, Dr Shah sent me to his Fullerton office for a CT Scan. He needed to find a nerve before installing the implant. The CT Scan was free of charge. One could argue that it’s buried in the cost of the the implant.
Anytime someone presents a treatment plan, you wonder if it’s a way to extract dollars from your pocket. In this case, I know all the treatments and costs upfront, unlike my last two dentists who kept scheduling appointment after appointment, with no short or long term plans.
One of my fellow Unilocalers mentioned that Dr Shah is more expensive, I can’t agree or disagree, but when I compare my previous dentist’s ad hoc appointments versus Dr. Shah’s treatment plan, I would say that Dr. Shah helped me budget for the procedures. Honestly, the treatment plan is 100% accurate. Another Unilocaler mentioned a wait time. I always get to the office 15 minutes ahead, and I’ve never had to wait.
I’m 100% confident that Dr. Shah and the office staff have my best interest in mind.
Side Note: My company no longer offers dental insurance. Instead, they contribute money to an SFA card. I signed up for a Dental Health Plan from California Dental HMO. It’s a discount plan that saved me ¹⁄₃ of the total cost. The premiums are reasonable. Also, there’s no preauthorization. While discussing my treatment plan with Dr Shah, I saved more money and the delivery of the treatment plan is at my pace, not on an insurance plan’s pace.
