The Home Depot

I bought a product from these guys online. The product did not come with the components that it says they came with. I called Home Depot customer service and they said the manufacturer would send my parts. A couple days later they say the manufacturer cannot provide those parts and that I would have to bring the item I assembled back and then reorder it again to get the parts. Other folks mention that they are not getting the parts either. I then review the product online and Home Depot rejects my review because I mentioned this in it. A completely dishonest move on their part. I took time to write a thoughtful review that they won’t post and I wasted my money on a dishonest business. It won’t happen again.

Avoid ordering a major Appliance from Home
Once you order they are done with you and you are left dealing with the manufacturer which is a nightmare! In particular I am referring to Whirlpool (parent company of Amana). It has been a nightmare with these people from beginning. I will spare you the details but I will never order again from them. Shop at home if you can.

Nursery request: PLEASE! Hire someone to specifically WATER nursery stock, especially out front stock. An under watered plant is stressed & then planting causes transplant shock & back we come with plants that have failed to thrive! I have just about given up on H D @Tumwater. It’s worth the extra gas to go to Fones Road & not have to return later for refunds/​exchange.

Had the worst customer service the other day at this location. They had a clearance oven on sale with some additional percentage off and I didn’t have my truck with me so I came back the next day. The price had changed and the additional percent off wasn’t there, when I inquired the staff was rude and unhelpful as usual, so I asked to talk to the manager to see if he would honor the price they had 12 hours ago. He said he wouldn’t, I was shocked so I pressed him on it, basically he said that corporate had the special price so if he had to honor it it would be out of his stores profits… Working for that bonus eh manager? Screw the customers! Don’t expect any customer focused service at Home Depot they know they are the only game in town so they really don’t care. And you can never find anyone to help you in the store. I am still in shock that the manager wouldn’t honor the price, he should have and then taken it up with corporate. not screwed the customer. I would like to say I won’t be back… but they are the only option for many things. The Walmart of home improvement.

So here’s the deal. If you want advice ask anyone over the age of forty at the pro desk especially if they have a beard or mustache. There is one lady there that doesn’t have facial hair that is also pretty good as well. It never hurts to ask other customers. If they have well worn and stained work pants with a measuring tape on their belt they just might have the answers you seek.
Don’t park in the covered loading area if you aren’t getting something big and/​or heavy. If you park there and are just running in to get a box of screws or look at light fixtures you are a vile selfish piece of dried dung harvested off the stinky purple center of a baboon’s ass. If you are scared to let a single drop of rain land upon your precious little noggin then please move out of western Washington. Go to southern California were the rain is scarce and jerks like you are abundant.
One other thing to make note of is the lack of exhaust in the men’s restroom. I was at the Tumwater Home Depot one day and I could smell the stench all the way down the lumber aisle. It’s incredibly ironic that in a store filled with stuff like oh I don’t know… exhaust fans, exhaust ducting, electrical supplies, and contractors… I can smell someones #2 all down aisle #18.
Listen, it’s a big corporate box store with all the problems that come with that. The trade off is the selection and sometimes the prices compared to a smaller local hardware store.
It is what it is. 3 stars A-​MFing OK.

We rented a truck and furniture dolly from this location and had a fantastic experience. The customer service was great. We called ahead to make sure they had a truck and dolly available and the man at the rental deal remembered my husband from the phone call.
He set up our dolly and truck rental and told us how the payments work. We put a deposit on the truck and paid for the dolly and actually got a good amount of money back on both when we returned them.
The truck ran fine, it was just old but what do you expect? The furniture dolly was easy to use and very helpful in moving a washer and dryer. If you rent a truck, remember to fill it back up with gas before you return it. They also give you ramps for the truck and you can request straps if they have some available.

Okay, more venting. Have you ever wondered why they have self check if you never get to check yourself out because there are so many over eager clerks saying it would be «easier» if they used their bar code reader to check you out? They will NOT let me check myself out. I like to do it because I can see each price as its rung up. They had 2 checkers working at the same time on my one order, one was using their portable device, the other a bar code reader. How on earth can I see what’s being rung up that way? I tend to have larger orders and they act like its a crime if anyone has to wait in line for the self check out while I check myself out. So they «help» me. Nobody was in the store anyway because it was close to nine oclock. They just are trained to «help» people to avoid shoplifting I guess. But if you have a hardware store related question to ask them, they always direct you to customer service, then you have to wait half an hour while the customer service person helps someone else. The clerks at self check know NOTHING about anything except how to use a bar code reader. I wanted some information about fencing. All I wanted to know was what it looked like, I didn’t want to speak with someone over the phone before six oclock because that’s when they close the Pro Desk. Ridiculous hours. Who has time before six to visit the hardware store about fencing? I just wanted to know what it looked like. I don’t want to buy something over the phone I’ve never seen. I will buy my fencing somewhere else thank you very much. Just lost a sale, Home Dipsh*t.

I get answers to questions such as I don’t know, attitude on the phone, and basically every time I go there no cares, no one wants to do their job and they stand around for a pay check. If you want help or need real assistance don’t shop at this location.

Went and bought some garden supplies. They were very helpful. It is a bit overwhelming because it is so huge. I get more home project ideas just because I went down the wrong isle. Great Place. Not disorganized like one Unilocal complainer who seems to trash so many businesses. Got my plants too and at a pretty good price too!

I ordered online and my product was ready to pick up in 2 hours! Installed it very easily… noticed a lamp had a small crack. Called them, and they said it was back ordered for months. So they called all over and found another store with the product on hand… and I received the part I needed the next day. I’ve never had such terrific customer service! !! They kept me informed throughout the process… just amazing and caring. Thank you Home Depot Employees!

How is a fantastic place to shop. I really like the customer service at the store! Darn good selection as well.

I will NEVER go to Home Depot again after my experience yesterday at this store! I went to purchase outdoor paint to paint the railing on my front porch. Told the «paint expert» my project and expressed that I needed paint that was water proof, as I have hanging plants above it. He offered a couple of options and I came home with my paint. After I got everything prepped and ready noticed the paint he provided was indoor paint. I called to let them know and have them start mixing the color so I could send my kid to swap it out. No apology, just we can’t mix paint you haven’t purchased. Huh, i thought I had. Called the manager, total waist of time. No apology, sent my kid and the whole thing took over two hours before I could start. A simple one day project is now going to take two! If you would have admitted you screwed up and said I’m sorry at any point in both conversations, I’d stay. But now I’m off to Ace or Lowes from now on!

I hated this location and it made me hate all of the Home Depots. I never could get help, everyone there seemed to hate to do anything but talk to eachother. I only went when I had to get one thing, something small and I knew where it was.
Something changed and I would assume that all that staff is now gone. The place is full of help and hellos. They did something right and the store is in good shape, has almost everything you could want, and there are many people jumping up to help you. GOOD JOB.

Say what you will about the big box stores, but my most recent experience in the Tumwater Home Depot was outstanding. I needed to hook up a new gas grill, something that I really needed help with. Dave, their guy in plumbing, was extremely patient, helpful and a joy to work with. He asked all the right questions, and helped me pick out what I needed. The store had every needed part in stock, and their selection was amazing. Dave cut and threaded each custom piece we needed to our specs and there was no extra charge.
Great service, helpful people, easy check out and return. They got the customer service thing down pat.

The family was looking to purchase a new grill for the summer. We were attracted to Home Depot’s free build and propane. However, expecting the military expected military discount we were sadly disappointed. After finding the grill that we wanted to purchase and ringing up the purchase we found out that the item is a ‘special’ and not available for the discount. Granted the free propane and build might have been better than their competitors but the other store doesn’t discriminate against sale items or ‘daily special’ items. I will say, the store service was excellent and the store built the grill in matter of hours. One of the reasons why I give the store three stars out of five. If you are military… look at your receipt… not everything is 10 percent off.

This is my neighborhood Home Depot and it came in handy after moving into our new house. Anything and everything you will ever need for your house is here and the prices are usually cheaper than anywhere else. My favorite thing about this store is that they answer any question that you might have and they are really friendly and super helpful. They know everything!

I have really appreciated the help I’ve received from the Tumwater HD — especially in the building material, tools & hardware!
I highly recommend their Kid Craft Day the first Saturday of every month.
