Ann’s Bakery

Came here for a birthday cake for my sister. Their red velvet is AMAZINGGGGG and super moist. We had cake for a couple of weeks after and it was still soft/​not crunchy. The requested decoration (an elephant) was also adorably drawn.
Also came here for petifores for a friend’s engagement. I called in the late morning and they were able to personalize them and have them ready within 4 hours (and they’re also super delicious and moist and so CUTE).
Prices are kind of expensive to me, but they’re comparable to other bakeries in the area.

I have been told for years that Ann’s was a Tulsa staple and THE place to get sweet treats for any occasion.
I have to admit that this was the first time I had been, but upon hearing that I hadn’t gone, my boyfriend turned the car around and we stepped inside. This was during the craziness that is Thanksgiving. We went in the Wednesday before.
I walked in and instantly was wanting to know what everything was and having a hard time deciding what I would like to try. Nothing had labels on it at the time which made it a little harder but the woman, no matter how busy she was, was incredibly kind and helpful and told me everything about all the pastries I was eyeing.
Finally when I made my decision, she was quick to help me and even threw in a little something extra.
We sat inside the bakery to try one of our new goodies and instantly I melted into my seat. I couldn’t believe the textures and tastes that were happening and how much I didn’t want it to end.
The place is small but they have a little seating area where families and kids were playing and while the adults had coffee and were chatting. People were coming in to buy their pies they had ordered for the holiday season and the bakers were taking turns delivering and helping customers.
I may be romanticising but it felt like the bakeries you see in new york in movies. Small, neighborhood bakery with high quality and reasonable price. They knew the names and stories of their customers and it was warm and welcoming.
It is a staple in tulsa and now my go to place for pastries and sweets!

Friendly family owned business. Responsive and gives back to the Tulsa community.

The reason why I came here, was because it was featured on Man vs Food. I am not local, so this was a huge disappointment having traveled from Texas to come here.
All the other places that I have gone to, that have been on Man vs Food, usually post a pic with Adam. Nope not this place. I had to make sure I was at the right bakery and even ask the cashier if Adam from Man vs Food came by. She casually said «yes, in February.»
The store is dated, the product limited and there were NO PIES! When I asked where all the pies were, I was told that if I wanted a pie, then I would have to order it 24 hours in advance. WTF??? So then I asked the baker lady, what Adam did, when he came to visit, did he too have to order the pie (s) 24 hours in advance???
This bakery does most of their advertising via social media and their website and no dummy cakes or displays in store. Just a real big bore and disappointment, I almost walked out with nothing, but since I was there, I felt compelled to try something. So I ordered a cheese filled Danish and an apple filled bear claw.
Surprisingly enough, the Danish was really good and boyfriend said the apples in the bear claw were drowned in way too much cinnamon. I will not be back, it is not that serious. Come to find out, there is no video from this bakery location, but Adam did show up like the lady said, but there is no video because Adam was probably disappointed too, with the fact that there were no pies and it was drab as hell. There were no pies for him to do a challenge with.

I ordered Ann’s for a work birthday party. We got lemon bars, an apple pie, a cherry pie, and a chocolate cream pie. I went to pick up my order and I had to wait for about 30 minutes. This was somewhat annoying since I placed the order a week prior. However, when I brought the pies back to work they were still warm! All the items were very delicious. All my co-​workers loved the chocolate cream and I was partial to the cherry pie.
I would recommend calling in your order. When I went in around 1:30 PM, most of the pastries in the display cases were gone. The bakery is cute and has a couple of table and chairs. The parking lot is small. I will for sure go back and try the other pastries and cakes at Ann’s!

We went in and the employee behind the counter was talking to someone at a table. I walked by her to look at the display cases, she jerked her head and frowned because I walked between her and the girl at the table with whom she was speaking. The treats were dry looking, but we decided on a cinnamon roll because we had heard great things. The employee never greeted us or asked us if we needed help. When we wanted to order, she went in the back and after 3 – 4 minutes, we left. The cakes were cute, the pastries dried out looking.

Ann’s is a Tulsa institution. My mother remembers going there as a child. I can’t speak for the pastries since I only go there for cakes but they do serve Topeca coffee which is cool. Their cakes are amazing. I appreciate the level of detail and creativity the put into the design. That only goes so far if they aren’t delicious and every cake I order is so moist and has the best flavor. I have tried the other midtown competition several times, which was overpriced, offering minimal effort and detail, and dry. There’s no comparison. Especially what you get for the price. They really do care and have made my families birthdays in the last year so special. Thanks guys!

Just ordered a cookie birthday cake for a friend of mine who works in Tulsa. They were very responsive in email and were able to take care of this on short notice. My friend liked his cookie and the décor was done as I had specified. Good experience. My friend also really likes this bakery, which is why I called them.

It’s a great specialty bakery that will accommodate you on just about whatever you want in cakes and pastries. I knew nothing about it — until — my cousin sent me over there to pick up a cake she ordered. Apparently that’s something my relatives have been doing for decades at that bakery. It’s a tradition! And … it would be a good tradition for anyone else to pick up, too! You won’t be disappointed.
OH … my cousin told me to add that the Lemon Squares (or bars?) are outstanding!

This place is full of 1940s nostalgia. I love their cinnamon rolls with a cup of coffee.
Ann’s did the sheet cakes for our wedding. They were so delicious! One of the best memories I have of our wedding is people coming up to my husband and I am saying «I recognize this frosting/cake…is this from Ann’s?» and of course we said ‘yes’. We then heard several stories of people who had grown up eating cakes/​other goodies from Ann’s. Several older couples also told us that they bought their wedding cakes from Ann’s. That will always be a special memory for us!
The woman who made our cakes had been working at Ann’s since the 60s. She was so helpful and knew what we meant when we said we wanted 1950s elegance for our cakes. She was thrilled to make an «old style» for us. — Sidenote– we wanted cakes to resemble the ones that our grandparents had at their weddings. And Ann’s nailed it. It was so special to us that our cakes had that «look», and Ann’s not only appreciated that (and loved the idea), but was able to combine several of our ideas for an incredible price!
Ann’s does not do any fondant cakes, instead they use all piped icing to create that perfect look. Truly unique cakes that are classically beautiful.
Ann’s is a true Tulsa treasure. I would recommend this bakery to anyone.

Not sure how I stumbled onto this place, because it was not a suggestion readily listed by local Unilocalers helping me find a sweet treat. I think I was looking for a bakery and was raw most of the reviews were favorable. This place seemed kinda dingy. I was hoping to buy a pie but they only had a peach one available but it looked overdone and a little crusty. We settled on a glazed donut, an apple stick, cherry danish, and banana nut bread.
The glazed donut was pretty good. The danish was good, but my husband said the fruit center tasted more like NyQuil. The apple stick was sugary and not that good. The bread was a bit crumbly, but was moist and pretty tasty.
The bakery was not very impressive and the things we bought were just ok.

They do great cakes. They did our wedding cake and I have had others as well.
Most importantly though… they have the best King Cakes in town. When Carnival starts I buy and deliver King Cakes to my best clients and Ann’s is much better at King Cakes than that «other bakery» in the neighborhood. Wonderful fillings and they even look great. On Mardi Gras we still have one brought in from S. Louisiana, but Ann’s is as good as it gets locally!

yum, yum, YUM! My darling husband recently bought me a birthday cake from Ann’s Bakery. SO GOOD! They had just started making Red Velvet cake, so that’s what my husband ordered (without my knowledge. he did good, he knows what I like!), with cream cheese frosting of course. He asked that they specifically put tulips on the cake (my favorite flower) instead of roses, and after some grumbling from the person on the phone they accomodated his request. My husband was not happy with the phone service, but the in-​person service was very friendly. We will be visiting again!

Ann’s Bakery is an institution in Tulsa.
But…
On a recent trip, a friend and I decided to try some of their treats rather than cakes. We had:
Peanut butter squares– made with rice krispies, they were very chewy with some crunch. Overall, a bit bland.
Snickerdoodles– the spice was good, but the cookie left a film in my mouth.
Oatmeal raisin cookies– there was no flavor and no spice.
Peanut butter cookies– very little peanut butter and again a film in my mouth.
Chocolate chip cookies– while they were moist, they were lacking in flavor.
Shortbread– I couldn’t taste any butter at all. They weren’t what I picture as shortbread at all.
Maybe Ann’s should just stick to wedding cakes.

I have tasted cakes from Ann’s bakery twice. Once was at a wedding, the other time at an office party. The cakes are delicious. The filling is good without being overly sweet.
