918 Coffee

I stopped in there shortly after they opened, over a year ago. The two girls behind the counter where completely indifferent to my presence. As minimally attentive as possible. I have never gone back even though they are only a few blocks from my house.
Today a group of us from the neighborhood are meeting there. I’m hoping from these positive comments that it is much improved.

I ordered a soy latte and chocolate chip muffin. The latte was delicious, as was the muffin. The place was cute and clean. The employees were also very friendly!

I live in Coweta and will find any excuse to end up near this coffee shop. Every time I have been the customer service has been absolutely outstanding! I wish I had names of the three or four people who have helped me. Every time I don’t know what to order they always offer up a suggestion. I have tried their muffins and YUM! I love the chocolate one, my delicious indulgence! I have tried a number of drinks and they are flavorful and rich in taste. Basic lattes to the cayenne mocha… There is plenty to choose from, cold brew, teas and fun and different takes on your normal coffee. The atmosphere is great too, student based mostly, with plenty of seating to relax and enjoy the day or sit and do some work. There is also a small patio out front. They play a variety of music and host music nights. Look for the calendar when you go in!
If you are looking for a place FAR outside the realm of the monotonous Starbucks, this is your place. Great environment, amazing coffee and a fabulous staff. I have never had a bad experience… And think I just talked myself into a coffee.

Really nice coffee shop. Spacious with plenty of seating. Barista was welcoming and fun to talk to, and made some awesome recommendations. Also, they use Apple Pay, which is very handy. Will definitely be coming back.
I had a cup of dark roast coffee and was surprised to find that I really enjoyed it. For whatever reason, I have found it difficult to get a good cup of coffee in Tulsa, whether it’s Phoenix, Double shot, or Foolish Things (I can make a much better cup of coffee at home with the AeroPress and some Starbucks or Kickass beans). All of these locations have bitter coffee (maybe it’s the roaster), so I wasn’t optimistic when I came to 918. But the dark brew was smooth all the way through.

I give 918 two stars because their coffee simply isn’t very good, especially considering the prices they are charging. If I pay $ 5 for a chai latte, it better be damn good. Unfortunately, 918 just doesn’t offer products worth paying for. The chai lattes taste watered down, and are lacking in flavor. The coffee doesn’t taste fresh. I’ve ordered coffee a few times and the cup wasn’t nearly full. To be honest, I’m totally unimpressed.
While this doesn’t factor into my rating, the atmosphere is modern, which I also don’t really like. When I go get coffee I want it to come from a cozy place where I feel comfortable lounging and sipping my drink. The atmosphere in 918 isn’t the most inviting.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to 918 Coffee this last week. some random thoughts:
1. the shop is the COOLEST. all redone and super snazzy. industrial yet comfy feel.
2. I went late afternoon on a Saturday and it was PACKED. not sure if it’s usually like that or what, but it was pretty cool to see that that many people liked it.
3. I’m glad it’s in the area that it’s in. brings new life into the area.
4. there is some seating outside on a good sized deck which is nice– they have umbrellas too
5. not sure what brand of coffee they serve but I had black coffee and dug it!
6. it has the numbers 918 in the title. come on now tulsans, what could be better?
you should go!

This is great coffee. This is the place my husband and I take all our visitors. I’m glad to see new businesses coming into the area. My only complaint is there is never enough people working so it can be a bit of a wait for your coffee. They have interesting combinations like a kahlua latte or cayenne mocha, that seen to change often and there is always a place to sit.
I prefer that to the crowded Starbucks at Utica Square where they just yell out orders (not even names) to the huge crowd crammed into that tiny space with nowhere to sit and you have to guess if it’s yours!

I went here on a Sunday morning to get some studying in. It’s a pretty cute, retro-​ish, hipster-​esque (I don’t even know how to describe it — let’s just say it’s unique) spacious place with plenty of chairs, tables, and outlets to get some work done. I got a medium latte with an extra double shot of espresso. The coffee wasn’t anything out of this world, but it was strong and had some pretty latte art, so I was pleased. Keep in mind that extra shots only come in double shots (I was told that single shots were too much of a waste, so they only do double — this could be a pro or a con depending on how strong you like your brew). I do think that the coffee is a little overpriced though — $ 5.50 for my drink.
Not the best coffee, but it’s adequately strong and is a good study space, so I’ll probably be back. Biggest plus to me is the good number of available outlets. I can’t stand coffee shops with hardly any outlets!

Cool atmosphere for hanging out. Mostly table seating, but a few couches. Board games were available, so that was neat. I tried the «Bees Knees» which was pretty tasty. My husband had the cold
brew coffee, but was pretty disappointed in it. He said the coffee was weak. My sister ordered an Irish Cream Latte, and was also disappointed. It didn’t have any flavor to it and after asking the barista, she found out they had run out of Irish cream. We aren’t sure what she used, if anything, initially. Parking was tight, the service was ehh, and the coffee wasn’t that impressive.

I’ve been casting glances at 918 Coffee as I drove by it for the past several months, thinking I should pop in and have a cuppa but not having the time at the time. Finally I had a chance to stop in and check out their offerings.
The first thing I noticed was how clean everything was! I was greeted the moment I walked in and in a few moments was enjoying a ham and cheese bagel with a medium Americano. The coffee was just right, I always ask for a touch of ice so it’s not scalding. The bagel was toasted warm and tasty.
I’ll be making it a point to stop in more often and put whatever I am doing or going to on hold!

Very good coffee. I haven’t tried much beyond that yet. Excellent Wifi, though. This place can be full & everyone is on some kind of device on the network and it rarely ever lags.
The architecture is awesome. This used to be the old George Tunes Garage and they have pictures of it on the wall. You enter from the small attached ‘cottage’ on the East end. The North end where the garage doors were are now all glass. (No entrance here — emergency exit only.)
With all of the coffee options now in Tulsa I rank this 4 of 5. 20 years ago, it would have been 5.
WiFi is 5 stars though.

The pour over medium blend was awesome! It was quiet enough to have good conversation and enjoy the sunshine through the windows. The barista was nice.

I love coming here, yes it’s convenient but it’s also good! I feel like it has definitely improved over the past several months. I always come in pretty early so service is quick and surprisingly cheerful at the butt crack of dawn. I’ve become a regular and that rapport with staff is always something I cherish. I look forward to seeing them!
I usually get a mocha, they have a million flavored syrups and I’ve cycled through quite a few of them. I love Toasted Marshmallow, ohh yeahhhhh. I get food every so often… I grab some hard boiled eggs, a bagel or muffin. I love that they support local being that they have local baked goods from bakeries to local home made cookies that are packaged and sent to the shop. I tried the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich the other day and thought that was great! As people have mentioned they have vinyl playing every night at 9. The environment seems definitely catered to those who want to come and chill. Read a book, have a light conversation or study.
There is definite room for improvement, hence the 4 stars. They can only go up from here though. I love what they’ve done with this building, they’ve got my full support, especially now being neighbors!

Stopped by 918 coffee today to try a cup with a friend. The location is ideal by TU but easy to miss if you aren’t looking. The parking is pretty difficult and very tight in the front. The front entryway doors are closed with a permanent sign that directs you to a side entrance.
The décor is a sort of 50s with a guitar on the wall soda shop bar stools in the entry. They have this great vintage coffee condiment bar but even with that the look isn’t quite pulled off.
I ordered the drip which was their Colorado roasted organic bean. It was nice and bold but had an aftertaste that I wasn’t fold of. My friend ordered the med latte.
The med comes with 2 shots but bec asid I had ordered it before I recommend she add an extra shot. She said it was good with the added shot but mentioned the same aftertaste.
The baked goods did not look appealing and the black dry erase menu boards were very difficult to read with the light reflecting on them.
Customer service was better than some of the other Unilocal experiences but nothing unforgettable. Overall, the quality and experience isn’t enough to bring me back. I returned this last time so that my friend could try it. With a few tweaks and different bean this place could be a lot better.

Love this coffee shop! I don’t get to go here very often simply because of the distance from where I live. (Actually I have only been here once.)
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Very comfortable.
If I’m at a coffee shop for the first time then chances are I will judge them by their Chai Tea Latte. (Yes I know that a Chai Tea Latte is not coffee.) If you want me to come back (and actually order coffee) have a great Chai. Well great job 918 Coffee! I’ll definitely be back!

Entry is the small door to the left of the well lit dining area, the doors on the glass area are locked. Love the décor, Art Deco and music, low key 60s and 70s music. Friendly employee. Usual coffee house treats and drinks, but not a lot of them. Black coffee is strong, they do have many flavor options. Oatmeal was cold :-(, I don’t know if they had a microwave to heat it up. Pile of board games to attract groups to pass the time. WiFi.

Very quaint building. I’ve been wanting to try this place out since I was at TU. I went in to buy a bag of coffee beans as a gift for someone. I tried a sample and it pretty good, nothing overly special, but good. The girl there was nice when I got her talking.
I decided to get a latte while I was there. Didn’t take a sip until I got back to my office… and I was disappointed. I am a straight espresso drinker so I’ve come to know quality espresso. I ordered a caramel latte and it tasted very watery. The food didn’t look overly appetizing either.
I really wanted to like this place but I don’t think I’ll be going there again.

They did such a great job transforming this building into something cool and useful. The buildout is pretty impressive, and décor is minimal, and pretty nice.
I can’t say that the coffee was anything special, however. I ordered what I considered to be a pretty run-​of-​the-​mill Americano, which was fine, but nothing too great. I have a hard time being very overly negative though; considering the positive contribution it’s made, to what has historically been a rather blighted area of Tulsa.
So, more power to them. For a lot of people, this is an extremely convenient location. So if you need a fix right away, give it a try.

918 is a traditional coffee house in a non-​traditional setting. Its building was previously a garage (and the garage doors are now giant windows) — one of the cool quirks of this fine establishment.
For first timers, you’ll need to know that you can’t walk in the doors on those giant windows; rather, you have to walk a little farther east and enter the door off of the patio. This makes for great people watching because people tug on those doors despite the signs indicating that they aren’t entries. (OK, they are kind of hard to see… but it’s pretty amusing!)
I’ve only had basic coffee with sweetener and half and half (I’m kind of a simple guy) but I can say this very basic product is quite good — which isn’t true everywhere! There are always people here but it’s never crowded, so you can usually walk right in and get served. This has become one of my favorite places to study because there’s enough background noise and large tables to spread out all of my school stuff. You’ll run into lots of TU students since it’s right down the road. ($ 0.75 refills on coffee so you can study all day!)
Parking seems like it’d be trickier than it is — I’ve never had a problem getting a spot. You can pull into their lot on the west side of the building or park right out front.
Overall, I really like 918. It’s very difficult for a business to survive on 11^th street; things seem to open and close all the time. I’ve really enjoyed this place and I highly encourage others to try it out and support this establishment in a very difficult location.

Cool and eclectic coffee shops are one of the things that make mid-​town/​downtown Tulsa a destination for calm culture and relaxed atmosphere. As a lover of the local coffee houses around Tulsa, I was excited to see one finally going in on 11^th street… a little off the hipster beaten path… and on the edge of some great neighborhoods between Lewis and Delaware. This part of town is not known as a destination point. Most of the businesses and restaurants are supported by the loyal locals.
Located in the old Tunes Auto Shop building, 918 is building upon the example set by other entrepenuers (blue dome, McNellies, etc) of repurposing historic buildings before they go to waste… for that alone they deserved a visit.
Décor…modern italian with a friendly and inviting open space.
Drinks…not to expensive. I had a large latte for 4.25. Drip coffee is 2.00 and .75 for a refill. They are using Coda Coffee out of Colorado (read about them on Unilocal) good flavor… not too overpowering.
Food…only had cookies, pastries, sweets etc. They just opened yesterday and aren’t serving sandwiches (they said they will be serving lunch very soon).
Staff…very friendly and they know how to make a mean latte.
I have been driving by this location for several months awaiting the eventual opening of what I promised to be a new hang out for my lazy summer days. Looks like I found it.
