Watch out! We had three significant issues with the owner on our spa order
First we were looking for a top of the line unit and Hices handles Hot Springs spas. We knew the model we wanted but could not decide on chlorine system as this is critical design factor for the hot tub. The owner Gerald Hice recommended the top of line ACE system which has a diamond that makes chlorine from salt water. On Hot Springs web site many customers complained about this system failed each year and costing $ 1000 to replace. When confronted Gerald changed recommendation to lower price system.
second, our tub was to go against home overlooking lake. the deck was designed for this tub to have cover open up to back of spa against the house so we had a full view of lake. when Gerald delivered the spa and cover, we noticed right away that cover was wrong and opened to side of spa rather than back. Gerald said that was the only way it was built by Hot Springs. we said that design was unacceptable because it blocked our view. Gerald said too bad, we owed him for spa and it would not be returned. We thought this was unfair as plastic wrap was still on just delivered spa. Gerald said he would see us in court. after talking to Hot Springs we found out Gerald was wrong and that this spa had been ordered by Gerald with a to the side removal. standard for Hot Springs was removal to back as we wanted and had seen in Houston. so Hices pools owner was going to stick us with a unacceptable $ 13 000 spa and accept no responsibility to help us fix situation. luckily Hot springs spas handled for us.
finally, when my general contractor was ready to move spa to over the deck and install, he asked Gerald to use Hices spa dolley to move the spa down driveway and across the deck. The weight of spa required special handling on deck. Gerald refused to loan his dolleys. Contractor offered to rent for the few hours of install and again Gerald refused to help us install the $ 13 000 spa we bought from Hices. so I had to pay to have a one time dolley system built to install spa.
buyer beware. I lost trust that this company knows its own products or is looking out for me and not themselves and would not make another purchase.
