The room was especially welcoming after a long days travel. Very. Clean and quiet. The staff was more than accommodating. With a good choice of food for breakfast, we do not feel we could have done better anyplace else. By the way, the price was much better than we expected. Thank you.

There are few good restaraunt a near by. The rate is very reasonable. Also, they serve more than a continental breakfast. It is conveniently located off of the 99, w shopping near by.

excellent value! clean & quaint. Its staff is what puts this at the top of our list! Lorena in the breakfast room is soo sweet she makes this place feel like grammas house. In all of Disneyland there was no staff as happy and loving as Lorena. We love this Hotel & adore it’s staff!

Last time my family stays here. I was told by Blanca (assistant manager) to let the front desk know by noon the following afternoon if we were staying 1 more night. I called in at 11 am and was told the hotel was sold out. This is the second incident that has happened here. To make matters worse, we checked online to see if there were any other rooms available in the hotel & there was. Never again, all we got was a «sorry».

I was asked to call the manager on Monday because she wasn’t available on the weekend. She promised to give me a refund for the room and it’s been one month and I still haven’t received it.

We stayed here for one night on our way north. The service was great, hotel was clean and the price was right. We got in late, woke up and used the very small, but adequate fitness room (treadmill, bike and weights), ate the free hot breakfast (which includes eggs, sausage, waffles, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal, etc), and left before checkout time. There was a pool but we didn’t have time to use it. It’s not glamorous, but had exactly everything we needed.

If you can get past the smell of cow sh** Tulare is actually quite a pleasant county. Rub some Vic’s Vapor Rub in your nose, and enjoy how close you are to the Sequoias!!! I was down here officiating a wedding, and came upon Charter Inn thanks to
. It was actually quite perfect, because it was on my top three places to stay after researching the area myself. The staff here is welcoming, attentive and very helpful– even for having a large agricultural convention in town.
The rooms were quiet, the bedding was comfortable, there was a fridge and mini sink area in the bedroom, Bath & Body works products, and an extremely wide tub, that I wish I was able to spend more time in.
I am not sure what everyone’s problem with the breakfast is… with rooms THIS reasonably priced, they should consider the hot breakfast a huge plus. Both meat and eggs were offered, yogurt, oatmeal, fresh fruit, breads and cereals– what else could you possibly expect? Keep in mind that this is a small country town, my dears– you’re no where near city life with your bellhops and fresh made to order omelettes ;)
The only downside I can think of, was that the treadmill and bike were down in the fitness center. (I was the first one to spot it?) In the beginning of the year, only the free weights were available, but those are really nice;)

Wonderful place to stay. Can’t find a better place Breakfast is included. Beds and rooms are very clean. We’ve stayed here several times and are always happy to return. You won’t be disappointed.

Nice hotel, right next to IHOP. Our air conditioning didn’t work though and it was hot and stuffy. Comfortable beds. Great price only $ 75 on a thurs night in sept with AAA.

My siblings and I, all adults and with our own families, primarily stay here when we come in to visit with relatives. That being said, I have a great sense of loyalty to Charter Inn and Suites. Their staff is professional, courteous, and accommodating. Because Tulare is a smaller town, you’re not going to have porters to take in your luggage, and yes, you’ll probably have to go up to the front desk to pick up some requested items like extra towels and toiletries. It’s a clean facility and offers a hot breakfast each morning for its guests. The rooms haven’t changed much in décor over the years, but it doesn’t bother me none. The beds are very comfortable, in my opinion, and the rooms (ours did) always have a microwave and fridge available, which is a big plus for guests with children. They have a laundry room, and it’s come in handy on many occasions for us. I’m going to harp a little bit over the budget cuts that seem apparent with each stay we’ve had over the last couple of years. While the Bath and Bodyworks toiletries are wonderful, they did get rid of their body wash (no biggie, but I do miss it). They also used to serve hot dinners on certain weeknights, but they got rid of that, too. Their hot breakfast has declined over the last couple of years. I really think they need to get rid of the scrambled eggs entrée. I don’t know if they use a powder or if they are liquid eggs in a milk carton, but they just don’t taste good. With this last stay in August, it seems as if breakfast items aren’t replenished once gone. On two separate mornings, I asked if they had any more chocolate milk (for the kids), and they said they didn’t have any more. I just think that once their allotted items are gone for that day, that’s it. That isn’t really good if guests come to breakfast after 8 AM, because you just don’t get left with much. I found some guests asking for more waffle batter. I had toast and butter, but there was no jam. All in all, I can tell that they’ve really cut down on their expenses, probably due to a new manager, and it’s evident to those guests who return to their establishment again and again. I’m not a fan of their biscuits and gravy. They used to serve (and maybe I just missed the occasion during our four-​night stay) chicken fried steak. They always have an afternoon tray of snacks, but when we were there, I just saw veggies and dip. They didn’t have any cheese for some reason that day, nor did they have cookies (which they used to serve). They also had salsa and chips another afternoon. Housekeeping during this stay was seriously lacking. On one of our days, I didn’t think Housekeeping came in at all, but my sister said that someone wiped down the bathroom area. However, we weren’t left with any towels – especially for the bathroom floor after exiting the tub. I’m not sure if after Housekeeping brought out our dirty towels, whether they just forgot to come back in to finish our suite. We did get toiletries, but our beds were not made, nor the carpet vacuumed. We aren’t pigs either, as we try and keep our hotel room as neat as possible, but I’m sure that during our stay, the same crumbs on the carpet the first day were still there until check-​out four days later. On another day, I was able to «talk» to a housekeeper to request extra towels and such, but I don’t believe she got the gist of what I said, because her English seemed to be severely limited. I don’t know… while I feel loyalty to CI&S, they need to step up their game some if they want to be competitive with Fairfield Inn and Suites, which I happened to stay at when Charter was full, and the other reputable hotels in Tulare. I’m going to give this establishment 3 stars for now, in the hopes that management reads this review and replies to it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a great place to stay, but returning guests are always a mainstay for any hotel establishment. I’m starting to feel the pressure to stay elsewhere the next time I come through the San Joaquin Valley.

This hotel is ok at best. Cheap rate, so I did not expect much. There are two positives, the staff was very nice and the hotel is pet friendly. The negatives are:
1. Breakfast provided was disgusting. Some crappy scrambled eggs, stale biscuits, and goop the called gravy. All gross. Generic cereal, instant sugary oatmeal.
2. The front doors are heavy, and difficult to open. Some disabled people may not be able to safely open. I will follow up with the state requesting they send someone out assess for ADA compliance.
3. Hotel is in need of maintenance.
4. Bed was very uncomfortable. My back hurt for two days.
5. Bring your own pillow! The pillows are worn out and very uncomfortable
6. No bell person to help me with my luggage.
7. Towels were very rough. Perhaps good for exfoliation.
I won’t return.

I stayed here for 2 nights/​3 day visit to Sequoia/​Kings Canyon National Park.
1. Room rate was very reasonable. Significantly cheaper than staying within the national park.
2. Free breakfast
3. Rooms and hallway/​lobby had excellent airconditioning. With temperatures in excess of 100 degrees Fahreheit outside, coming back to the hotel was great relief.
4. My room was equipped with King size bed and Sofa sleeper. I slept two nights on sofa sleeper without getting sore back. It had decent mattress.
5. The building seems to have good noise isolation because I was not bothered by neighbor’s noise (loud TV, people talking in the hallway, flushing of the toilet, etc.) during my stay.
6. I didn’t get to utilize but they have cash bar with several beers and wine to choose from.
7. Room was equipped with microwave and fridge.
8. Bathtub in my room was wide and large. Awesome for soaking in the tub.
9. You will find plenty of dining and shopping places around this hotel.
Downside was approx. hour drive to Sequoia/​Kings Canyon National Park but don’t let that bother you from staying here during your visit to Sequoia National Park.

How I ended up in Tulare, you don’t want to know! Just kidding, there is no story to tell. An event my friends and I attended (originally planned to be in Pleasanton) relocated to a venue in Tulare at the very last minute. My friends and I drove three hours to Tulare and after a night of partying, we needed a place to crash. Charter Inn & Suites was seven minutes driving distance from the venue, so what they hey?!
The place kind of gave me the creeps. Everything just looked so old fashioned, reminded me of an elderly home. The inn wasn’t immaculate, nor was it dingy. It was just average and I didn’t mind sleeping and showering there, so it served it’s purpose. One thing that I found odd about, was that, when we requested for extra blankets and towels, the front desk asked us to come downstairs to the lobby to retrieve them. I guess, now that I think about it, it was probably because they were short staffed. It was in the middle of the night after all, so maybe we shouldn’t have asked for too much.
The seven of us shared one room with two queen beds and one pull out bed couch. It was fairly spacious and airy. I think it was about $ 70/​night, which was pretty reasonable if you ask me.

Great staff, clean facility, cozy atmosphere & nice breakfast with your stay. Price is great, especially for such a nice setting. Lovely visit.

Having never been to Tulare, but being the half way point from A to B I checked out Unilocal as to where to stay. Charter Inn seemed to be the choice, price-​wise and everything else-​wise. It was a pleasure to stay there, front desk was friendly and knowledgeable, candy in a basket as well as mints in a box to promote (and remember) Charter Inn & Suites, rooms were very nice and spacious, a real surprise, bed was firm and comfortable. Price was very reasonable. Would definitely stay there if I have to go to Tulare again. Dinner was free, one item, spaghetti & meatballs when we were there, actually good, but cold since we arrived at the end of the dinner hour, great garlic bread, a nice salad. They have a very functional fitness room which I would use if I was staying there longer. Only problem was the vending machine was empty so I had to go hunting.
Other than that, a definite keeper for future reference!

Absolutely loved this place. Very clean, inexpensive, and perfect for our family of 5 (with grandpa). One room had two queen beds, and we got a rollaway for $ 10. They had a taco style buffet dinner (on Tuesdays and Wednesdays), and in the morning had a pretty decent hot breakfast. Service was very homely and personal. We will stay here each time on our way camping!

Holy Low Rates Batman! How does this place do it?!
GREAT room, high end amenities, they feed you dinner AND breakfast… man I had WAFFLES… home made and they have cereal and eggs and potatoes and bacon and you NAME it and the area is freeway convenient, and quiet and they have a little bar inside where you can relax and kick back and a pool and they are next to a major shopping center if you need anything and I can’t even keep going on because at one point you’re gonna think i’m making this up…
FRIENDLY service, convenient, quiet, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN, safe and comfortable, the bed was AMAZING, what a great way to start a vacation, got up early and fully of energy and felt like I had the best nights sleep in months.
RECOMMEND x 1000, don’t bother with anywhere else, stay here, you won’t regret it.

Charter goes above and beyond the average hotel. The beds are comfy, the AC stays just the right temp throughout the night, and the rooms are spacious. The vanities in the restroom include a shower cap, a mini sewing kit, facial/​make-​up removal cloths, etc… more than what you’ll find elsewhere. Breakfast is much better than just a continental one… there were Belgian waffles with strawberry compote n’ whipped cream, breads, bagels, and English muffins for toasting, sausage, eggs, potatoes, fruit, cereal, yogurt, juices, and coffee. The only thing is that I recommend a room on the top floor, because if there are untamed kids running wildly through the hallways (as there were during my stay), you’d best be on the level above them to avoid a ceiling stampede.
