Superior Custom Cabinets

We have used Superior twice in the last 13 years. Not only did the make new cabinets for us that matched the ones they built 13 years ago, they are very difficult to tell apart. The reconfigured kitchen from 5 years ago looks great with the 2 generations of cabinets.
The second item of excellence is Ken in their customer service organization. I have had him out to the house multiple times. Superior offers to warrant their cabinets ongoing. This means they will come out and adjust doors so their straight and look like new again. Ken is polite and resourceful in the way he goes about his work. I recommend Superior to anyone wanting cabinets that are far better than big box stores, but also superior in quality for only a fraction more in cost.

I was in the midst of a remodel when I discovered my new oven would require a new cabinet to house it. I called Superior Cabinets desperate to get the job done relatively quickly because I didn’t want to slow down the rest of the job. Larry wasn’t unable to offer them quite when I was hoping (they are good but there was still a line ahead of me!) but told me that up front. He gave me a date that was still reasonable and delivered on time with a nice product. They don’t deserve the sketchy reviews I’ve seen on Unilocal.I was in a pinch so I took a chance anyway after reading the reviews. I’m glad I did. They are a good company.

The most unethical and unprofessional company I’ve ever worked with. This company agreed to make me a cabinet/​island to fit my specialized professional stove. I gave them a clearly written email as to its size. I was going to have the island custom painted, so the clear written e-​mails were to make it primed and ready to paint and to fit my stove. Cabinets were installed and quartz as well. I arrived to find the opening too small for my stove (6,000 $ stove) and not even presanded much less ready to paint. They never communicated with me throughout the process after I made the order. This company will do nothing to correct this disaster. Awful! I am telling all my friends to avoid them like the plague.

I am surprised by some of the other reviews here on Unilocal.We used Superior two years ago (summer 2013) to supply all the cabinets for a full kitchen remodel and two bathrooms. Every cabinet was exactly as ordered and the contractor said they all installed very well and fit perfectly. We love the appearance of the cabinets both the quality of wood used and the nice staining work. All doors and drawers work flawlessly except we did have to have 3 drawers adjusted a little to close properly. This work was completed quickly and correctly by Superior at no extra cost. I have no complaints about their products at all and I would definitely use them again.

I had the very unfortunate experience of working with Superior Cabinet. As an architect of 20+ years I have seen my fair share of mistakes on site, but Superior by far wins for incompetence. Superior came highly recommended from my general contractor, but at this point I don’t think he would use them again. In total we have had to have my kitchen remade 3 times because they could not grain match the doors correctly.
Kitchen/​bath number one — the grain was rotated 90 degrees the wrong way from what was ordered. Not only that but half the cabinets were inside out. The bathroom cabinets had rotating grain directions despite being specified horizontal.
Kitchen/​bath number two. The kitchen cabinets arrive half of them grain-​matched (which they added a $ 2k surcharge for because they made the original cabinets grain in the opposite direction then specified). Not only that but half the kitchen as inside out where the quartersawn cut walnut was on the inside of the cabinet and the B-​side was on the outside.
Today was kitchen/​bath number 3. The bathroom replacement drawers did not arrive as planned 6 – 8 weeks ago. The inside of my bathroom drawers have words written in pencil in the finish of every drawer. Every drawer has about a dozen screw holes and looks like Swiss cheese. The installer came with half the parts required to finish the kitchen job and the new upper cabinets were the wrong wood altogether (half quarter sawn and half plain sawn. The installer and my GC instantly recognized the problem. The installer called Ryan Desimone who managed the previous two screw ups. His response was a yelling rant to me on the phone that he has remade this enough and «I get what I get at this point.».
The incompetence of this crew and the ambivalence toward quality control is remarkable. I have a $ 20k kitchen that is going in the bin after nearly 6 months of making and remaking. We are now looking to have another shop remake all the doors and drawers for the kitchen and two baths.
My advice, look elsewhere as there is nothing Superior about their cabinets. They should rebrand to Inferior Cabinets, and even that would be overstating their credentials.

We had a great experience with Superior Cabinets. We recently completed a full kitchen renovation and are very happy with how our walnut cabinets turned out. We ran into a few snags along the way, but Larry was fantastic about making sure all were addressed in a timely manner. Overall we feel Superior Cabinets offered a lot of customization and value for the price.

I’ve dealt with many contractors and builders over my life, and this company is the best of breed when it comes to superior custom manufacturing and superior customer service before and after the sale. I must agree with everything Alyson S. wrote above, so you have it from two customers. Fit, finish, attention to detail, the best woods and finishes, and they fit an eight-​foot bathroom cabinet (with hutch) that had exact clearances, which is mind blowing in modern times. When our general contractor nearly ruined the cabinets by installing door handles on the wrong ends, Superior came out and replaced them for free – and it wasn’t their mistake! Talk about great customer service! Don’t even bother to shop around – run to Superior Cabinets for any needs you have. It will be the best decision you’ll ever make when installing custom cabinets. I wish I could give them six stars!

Recently remodeled my kitchen and Superior (W/​Chris Vroom) was the only part of my project without any problems. Product delivery date was/​is guaranteed and my custom cabinets were flawless when they arrived. Got several estimates before the job and while they weren’t the best on price they were not the worst either. Finally ended up choosing Superior because of a personal recommendation from a friend. Would use them again in a heartbeat!

When we remodeled our kitchen, we had some very specific requirements involving cabinet heights, finishes, moldings, integration of special features, and lighting. Superior’s designer understood what we wanted, was very easy to work with, stayed with the project through installation, and until he knew we were satisfied. The bid was the most reasonable that we received.

Superior Cabinets has been really good about standing behind their work. I’ve had some problems with the finish on our cabinets but Superior has always stood behind their work and are only too happy to send out a repair guy to solve any issues. They helped us redesign our old kitchen and created beautiful, timeless cabinets. We had problems with the finish and even years after install they are great about sending someone to fix any finish problems. I like a company that stands behind their work. All in all they are a wonderful option for remodels of «vintage» homes where the measurements may be a little funny and they will work to create a beautiful space.

While looking for new kitchen cabinets, we shopped 5 different stores. Superior Cabinets stood head and shoulders above everywhere else we shopped. No one came close to Superior’s combination of quality, service, value and knowledge. We worked with Chris Vroom, who expertly designed our kitchen. When our cabinets arrived, the quality exceeded our expectations. Best of all, everyone we interacted with at Superior — from Chris in design, to Carolyn in Customer Service, to the delivery folks — was professional and helpful. Their follow through is exceptional and Superior Cabinets authentically cares about customer satisfaction. Their cabinets are also locally made, so we felt even better about our purchase. We highly recommend Superior Cabinets!
