Trinity Bookstore

First time visiting Dec. 18, 2015. After being closed for s while, this wonderful store re-​opened Dec. 1, 2015 under new & good management. Sounds like the negative reviews here are for the most recent owners/​managers. I did not see any signs warning of cameras, nor did I see any signs about bathroom usage. I honestly can’t imagine someone stealing from a store like this, but I guess it’s possible. The owner/​manager greeted me as soon as I arrived & was very helpful. There were 2 young women who were cashiers –one looked like she was being trained, and they were both pleasant. The owner said she’s getting in lots of new books & other merchandise. Right now, ALL Christmas items & cards are HALF-​OFF. I will return soon. We really need this type of store in Tucson!

I was searching for a very specific card for my aunt who celebrated her 60^th Jubilee Anniversary as a Dominican Sister.
I have to disclaim that I never actually went to the store.
The woman who answered the phone stated that no such card was sold at this store, and was unable to recommend where I might find such a card. I did finally find the card (see Diocese of Tucson review: 111 S Church location), so this review is based on the fact that they answered the phone and were kinda pleasant, but didn’t sell what I was looking for.

For Science’s sake, I’m glad I didn’t read the other reviews first. (This way, I know my experience was unprejudiced.) I arrived at Trinity Bookstore, with my two young sons, and immediately saw the «No Public Restroom; No Baño Publico» sign next to the «Open» for business sign. Not needing to make use of it myself, and assuming it was meant for non-​customers, I didn’t think much about it, UNTIL… (Dun-​dun-​dun!)
…My little 7-​year old, with a distressed look on his face, says to me as we’re opening the door, «Mommy, I have to go to the bathroom!»
«Why didn’t you go before we left?», I offered the age-​old, inane response.
His bewildered shrug, while squirming about, provided the nudge needed to proceed to action. So I asked the lady who had ignored our entrance, «Excuse me, I know your sign says, ‘No Public Restrooms’, but my 7 year-​old needs to use a bathroom, can he use yours?»
The owner went on to tell me how it was ‘beyond her control’ — that the landlord prohibits it, and we could try the gas-​station or the (closed) French restaurant across the street.
When I called back to ask who the owner was and found out it was her, I gave her my opinion about customer service and internet accessibility — both for cheaper merchandise and «word-​of-​mouth» reviews. Her best defense was that it was «their policy». I had to educate her that ‘policy’ was just that: her policy — not written in stone and reflecting poor customer service. Would she give her business to someone that wouldn’t allow her (let alone a 7 y.o. boy) the use of a toilet?
I won’t and we won’t be back.
Later, my son said, «They should change the sign to ‘Don’t come in if you need to use a bathroom’.»

I went here to buy a gift for a baptism. Let me tell you three reasons I will never return:
1) «Thou shalt not steal». Check out their prices and you’ll realize it’s highway robbery. $ 36.95 for a more inexpensive cross, up to almost $ 600 for an ornate, larger cross? A plaster of Saint George slaying the dragon for $ 200? Who made these, Michelangelo? I bet you that bishop under fire for spending $ 40M on his residence furnished it at Trinity book store…
2) «Judge not, and ye shall not be judged.» As a person who has never shop lifted in my whole life, I can still honestly say that posting 5 or more signs throughout your store that say «Smile — you are on camera — shoplifting is against the law and against one of God’s commandments, we will prosecute to the fullest extent» still turn me off. I’m not there to be on camera, and the prices certainly aren’t making me smile, and I’m not a shop lifter. I’m here to shop. This is tacky, and will a little sign really stop somebody from shoplifting? Answer: Eek! Methinks not (thank you Unilocal)
3) «Thou shalt not kill.» They have another sign that warns people they will be responsible for payment lest they break merchandise like statues. Here is my issue: this old shelving unit with hexagonal glass has multiple bars that one might easily catch their foot upon accidentally. To make matters worse. one of the glass hexagons have broken and is replaced with an oversized square sheet of glass that POKES out past the metal shelving about 2 — 3 inches. Who would be responsible if somebody cuts themselves while walking past that and brings the whole shelving down along with St. Francis of Assisi crashing into their skull? Who pays then?
Maybe the owner should ask themselves what Christ would do if he walked into this store and saw all of this — we might have a clue from the Bible story of «The Cleansing of the Temple».

Atrocious and dismissive customer service.
Will not be back.

This is a religious bookstore, specifically a helpful place if you need a Catholic item for a gift or sympathy ideas. They are one of the largest Catholic mail order companies. Cards with crosses, hymnal music, lots of Spanish books, little angel statues, cards with saints on them, and almost anything that you can imagine that is religious. Had no problem finding a sympathy card with a cross on it.
