this is the best Sonoran dog I’ve ever had. From the quality of the bun, the dog, the delicious sauces, the quality of the beans… This is simply the best Sonoran dog I’ve had while living in Tucson for five and half years, delicious! I think the only thing that would’ve made it better is if the horchata were made from scratch and possibly some local or organic ingredients…

The Rolling Chef left me with a few highs and lows. I like the price and serving size, $ 2, and 3 oz. of meat per taco(the fish taco is $ 3) is a great deal. The«Jamaican» was delicious. I’d give the Chef 4.5 stars if every taco I tried were as flavorful as this option. The plantain chips gave it the perfect crunch and the mango sauce in combination with the coconut flakes gave this taco a delicious flavor. The remaining two tacos lacked flavor. The teriyaki sauce on the«Japanese» was waaaaay too strong(Costco prepackaged variety?), and yet the meat lacked any flavor at all. Rather than aiding the bland meat, the sauce overwhelmed any other flavor with sugary syrup. The pineapple chunk was huge, but I enjoyed the broccoli slaw on top. The«Sonoran» was just forgettable. Bland meat, no spice, yeah, this was an underwhelming selection that could not even be redeemed by the delicious Anita Street tortilla foundation. My advice to the novice fusion taco customer is to try the wilder options, like the«Southern» and aforementioned«Jamaican.»

Hunted them down at the Wild West Lunch round up today! Went with a game plan, but wasn’t ready for the long lines and them running out of my fav, the Thai taco!!! Very upsetting, but still worth it! This time we got 2 Portuguese: pork belly greatness 2 Southern: pulled pork yumminess 2 Sonoran: beefy deliciousness! Every bite was a little piece of heaven in my mouth! The combo of fresh ingredients and delicious meats was ridiculous! Party in the mouth! They do not skimp on the meat, like most taco places that leave you asking where the meat is! I do not have anything negative to say, even though I was disappointed not to have my Thai taco, everything that comes out of the kitchen is a winner! The service is very nice and fast! Keep at it guys! You are awesome!

Words almost fail me in trying to capture the taste of the terrific Thai tacos(in particular). I wrote on Twitter that they were a revelation, but that’s almost too tame for the subtle smokiness of the tender, shredded chicken, the sauce and the delicacy of the presentation … delicate morsels wrappped up in a tiny, beautiful tortilla. I could almost cry … because I only ordered one! I will definitely be following The Rolling Chef with interest and praise God that I decided to trek out tonight to my first Food Truck Roundup! The sides were great too, but all else paled in comparison. I’m soooo looking forward to trying … EVERYTHING!

One of the things I miss most about Phoenix are my favorite food trucks. But after visiting the Food Truck Roundup Wednesday night, I might have a new favorite to add to the list in The Rolling Chef. Judging by their name and the look of the truck, I had absolutely no idea what they served. After investigating, I was excited to see a menu with a variety of tacos from the standard(like the Gringo with steak, lettuce and cheese) to the not so standard(i.e. the Jamaican with jerk sauce, coconut and plantains). I decided to go with the combo, which gets you 3 tacos, two sides, and a drink for only $ 9! I ordered: –the Gringo –the Portuguese: applewood smoked pork belly, cabbage, and a delicious sauce –the Argentine: steak and Chimichurri sauce –and for my two sides: potato salad and a bag of chips. All of the tacos were absolutely amazing! They were all flavorful and had the perfect amount of toppings. But my favorite was definitely the Argentine! I think I could have just had a cup of the Chimichurri sauce – it was that good! My side of potato salad was also delicious. It was the perfect homemade potato salad and reminded me a lot of what we serve at family get togethers. Not only was the food amazing, but they lady who took my order was also super friendly. And the food didn’t take too long considering the number of people who ordered before me. I’m also still amazed that I only paid $ 9 for all of that food. I’m definitely looking forward to my next visit to the Rolling Chef!

Am I the only one who sometimes finds the food truck roundup overwhelming? So many choices! What if I choose the wrong cuisine? The Rolling Chef eliminates that anxiety, serving fusion tacos inspired by the flavors of many lands. For $ 8, you get 3 tacos, 2 sides, and a drink, or you can get individual tacos for $ 2. I tried the Jamaican, the Argentinian, and I forget what else. Also got beans and corn for sides and substituted corn for flour tortillas. Meh. The corn tortillas were not great. The Jamaican chicken was nice with mango and a little zing, plus some plantain chips. I also enjoyed the beef. The beans were only so-so. The corn was wonderfully buttery! I would like to try some of the other options from this truck.

Delicious! We tried a couple of their tacos at the grand opening of Tap & Bottle and I’m still craving them! We had the barbacoa and pork bely tacos and they were SO good! The barbacoa was juicy and the meat was cooked to perfection — super tender. The pork belly was awesome! We haven’t had a chance to stalk the Rolling Chef since but as soon as he’s close we will definitely take advantage!

I was worried about this one at my first Food Truck Roundup today. There were not a whole lot of people in front of this one, but I was determined to try as much of the food available as I could. Also, I saw that the tacos were $ 2 each with a pretty good variety, so we decided to try this one as well. I got the Portuguese Pork Belly and my companion got the Southern Pulled Pork. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised by this! The pork belly was freaking amazing. I am coming back soon for that smokey, almost spicy taco. The pulled pork was yummy, too, but I will want to try something else next time. For $ 2, you get a delicious taco served by two really nice guys. Totally worth the money!

Oh my gosh! I have never had a pork belly taco and boy, was I surprised with how delicious it tasted! Truly scrumptious! My friends ordered the same and others and they also thought the pork belly was the best out of all other foods we tried at this event. I need to go back, just to order many more! Hmm, found this food truck at a food truck event last weekend. Will need to check them out downtown during the day/night. And the service I received was great.

Hmmm, the menu looked great. Tacos: pork belly, chicken, pulled pork and barbacoa. I wanted to order everything but not being a pulled pork fan I passed on that. I ordered the Pork Belly and it was my favorite. Who can hate pork belly, cooked just right with Portugese seasoning. The Japenese chicken was ok. I hate when places throw pineapple in your food and think its japense/hawaiian. The barbacoa tender but the seasoning was a little off. Cant really put my hand on what exactly it was. The gentlemen taking our order was not all there. Maybe he was nervous or didnt know the menu. I had to repeat my order a few times and he gave my friend the wrong change. We didn’t say anything because we felt bad but I’m sure others will mind.

I would have given two stars for the food alone but Aponte’s customer service skills were included in the rating. I ordered a pulled pork sub which was o.k., I’ve had much better. Additionally, if you want slaw or onions it costs extra so I ordered slaw and onions for an additional dollar or two. When my food was ready I immediately noticed there wasn’t any slaw or onions on the sub I prepaid extra for. I told Aponte this and he informed me he just ran out. Aponte then turned around and went back to cooking on the grill without an apology, refund or another word. I smirked and found a bench to eat my sub-par sub. I won’t be going back.
