Renters Beware! The Nordstrom Group makes their money from the owners of the houses they manage. They will do whatever is necessary to keep them happy. Our rental experience with the company was a nightmare! The house we rented was in a luxury, gated community, with a manned guard house. The rent was very high. In exchange for the «priveledge» of living there, we received: a house with serious mold and termite problems, a yard filled with pack rats that ate the irrigation tubing (causing the system to leak, and the water bill to go sky high), a broken pool pump and dead animals in the pool, faulty appliances, windows that failed to close properly, stucco falling off exterior walls and an egotistical, condescending, female bully as an owner. She insisted on visiting the house 5 or 6 times during our 18 month lease, with an entourage of contactors and decorators. She said she had to make plans to renovate the house…1 ½ YEARS BEFORE WE MOVED OUT! Outrageous invasion of privacy! Please think twice before signing a lease managed by the turkeys at The Nordstrom Group!

Update: Still working with Nordstrom Group and everything has been excellent. We honestly haven’t had any issues they haven’t responded to professionally and quickly. Great place, too. It also seems that they do a good job at communicating with property owners and managing all of the details. I can’t speak to others at the company, but Pamela Neiman is the best! Above and beyond any of my past renting experiences.

I used Nordstrom services for property management of my home for 4 years that I sold recently. I have been more than delighted by their service and responsiveness. They charge slightly higher than competitors but it is well worth it since over these 4 years I have had minimal expenditure in repairs and all repairs were done professionally by 3^rd party which gave me the best price. Very often property management services have their own handyman and believe me it is a bad deal as that is cash generating mechanism for such firms on every real or imagined opportunity. Before selecting a property management firm, I checked on county court records to find out if the firms had any past or current legal cases against them. Nordstrom was the only firm without legal past.
I have routinely asked them to provide me with pictures of my property every 6 months and they sent me a CD without any charge for the work done. They also kept me advised on the upkeep while giving me the complete option to go ahead with repair or upgrade. They saw through 2 tenants and in each case they got me the highest quality tenant. They charge a hefty weekly fee for advertising while the place is vacant but again that has been worth it considering how quickly they were able to find tenants in each case and the quality of tenants.
I highly recommend this firm.

I wrote my first review 2 years ago. I stuck with them because I really loved the house. However I had to change jobs and move cross country. Thus company was the most disreputable one with regards to return of security deposits. I spent almost a $ 1000 cleaning this house with professional services. The agent did the walk through when I wasn’t there. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. I even paid fir the weekend of utilities so she could do the walk through on a Friday evening. I should have been there, because she wrote things down that were not proven by pictures, she planted a bottle of alcohol in my freezer claiming I didn’t clean it properly (I don’t drink). But I did take my own video of the place before I left. I had 2 separate rental managers review my video and both stated they had never seen a house left so clean.
Also, don’t fall for the part where you are expected to do paint touch ups. Take that out of your lease. This s a well known Nordstrom Group scam where they tell you you need to touch up scuffs, etc but they «can’t» provide the paint color. Why can’t they? They jeep records don’t they? You know? Because it’s a trap. So you spend time and money tying to match it, and it never does. Then she takes off money for paint mismatch or, what they really want, they get you to paint the entire room over. That’s how they get the house repainted. This is not speculation. This has happened to many people from there.
There’s so much more on this list but it’s not worth it. The Nordstrom Group is do arrogant they don’t care what you think about them. So my warning yo any potential renter: DON’T.

THE WORST experience as tenants. The agent for our rental property was very condescending all the time. Upon move-​out, they will make you clean all the outside windows, carpet shampooing by the professionals (can’t be done on your own, regardless you had a pet or not), and hard water stain removal from everywhere. If you let them choose their contractors to do all the jobs because they threaten you questioning your ability to meet their ridiculous expectations, forget about your deposit. I told my agent K that we will use a professional cleaners to do the job but the agent kept emphasizing what has to be done in a condescending manner.
Also be aware of early termination fee due to unforeseen circumstances (in my case, purchase of house). There was no clause regarding early termination on the contract. We both agreed that we pay for the rent until a next tenant takes over the property and the weekly advertisement/​showing fee until the property rents out. On the final disclosure, they charged us $ 300 for early lease breakout in addition to everything.
Last summer when it was 100s outside, AC was broken and had to be replaced, we had to get a hotel in the middle of night, but no reimbursement from the property management company.

We rented a property thru the Nordstrom Group for about 2.5 years. While at first we liked them (when searching for a home) they quickly disappointed. The lock box on our door remained there for 6 months despite my efforts of reminding them and asking then to remove it. We had a weekend emergency with a water line break and the on-​call agent was rude and didn’t want to help very much. Bottom line was that she wanted me to diagnose the problem before she would decide if she wanted to send someone out. She refused to come look at it herself, because she claimed to be in charge of hundreds of properties that weekend. When renewing for the first time we were quoted two different prices by two different agents and they acted as if they had no idea how one the other came up with the price despite touting market value.
I know that for homeowners the Nordstrom group is proud of having low staff costs, but from a renter’s perspective you feel the fact that there is less staff. Despite a small office it’s as if they can’t communicate with each other. We no longer live in Tucson, but if we did and if we are renting we would never rent from the Nordstrom group again. The only reason why we stayed with them so long was that we didn’t want to pay moving cost to move to a different property.

Since my last review, I did complain to the owners and the particular property manager has improved (to be fair, improved from a 1 star to a 3 star, still not great though more responsive).
Unfortunately, if I ever have to deal with another employee (ie during non office hours during emergencies) I am again confronted with rude, abrasive employees. I have a lease that is too expensive to get out of, but I have to say if I knew then what I know now I would NEVER work with this management company. I hope this review saves other the grief I have had to deal with.

Obviously management companies work for the owners. However, when they are slow to respond to issues as Nordstrom, they are not doing their owners any favors. It creates turnover in rentals that could be avoided. My experience with Nordstrom was awful. If you keep calling about issues, MAYBE you will hear back in the next week or so. or not.

As a potential renter, I found a rental property being managed by The Nordstrom Group and met with the agent to see the unit. As it was located in the community my current rental unit is located in, I was familiar with the area and floor plan, and just needed to «see it» before making a lease offer, which I did on the spot. My offer: rent exactly the price requested, the term requested, the full security deposit of $ 1120 and the $ 35 application fee presented to the agent right on the spot. A day later, I inquired into the processing and was told there had been another application on the unit. I was then asked, «Do you want to increase your offer so the owners will be more likely to accept your offer over the second applicants?» I flat out told the agent I had no intention of getting into a bidding war over a RENTAL UNIT IN TUCSON ARIZONA. If I was buying a house, that’d be a completely different story. Or if the rental was in SF or NYC –
I resent the idea that a rental property is being held hostage while the property management company attempts to extort more money from the applicants. Applicants that are willing to pay the full price the owners agreed to and asked the agents to acquire for their property. Knowing full well with the economy being is what it is, knowing many homeowners are losing money to come out of their homes they can no longer afford and into rentals in order to make ends meet. So an individual with a single income, good credit rating and stable employment with one of the most prestigious car companies in the world could lose out to an applicant with dual-​income (all other considerations aside) simply because they are willing to pay more than the asking rate for rent?
I almost rescinded my offer but didn’t feel like losing the $ 1120 deposit. And I’m hoping there’s a good owner somewhere that wouldn’t appreciate losing a fantastic tenant over these types of antics by a property management company. I have yet to hear if my «as-​is» full price, full term requested offer was accepted or not. Wondering if the other applicant was strong-​armed into increasing their offer or has matching integrity.

RENTER BEWARE!.. THEY WILL NICKLE & DIME YOU FOR YOUR DEPOSIT UNTIL YOU GET NOTHING BACK OR PAY AS MUCH OUT OF POCKET!!! We rented a property from this company, and they were very nice and came across as a very caring and upstanding company. at first. This was until it was time for us to give our notice for moving out. This is when the horror story began!.. We knew that they required a professional carpet cleaning, but they also require tons of other unnecessary repairs and cleaning services prior to leaving the property, in order for you to get your deposit back. We cleaned the property until it was spotless, basically giving the entire place a fresh coat of paint, professionally cleaned the carpets & tile, and even replaced some broken blinds (that were already showing signs of damage prior to us moving in). The property was in better condition then when it was rented out to us (this is not a exaggeration).We knew that they property needed to be spotless & it was. When the employee come to do a walk through, magically they have a laundry list of items that needed to be replaced or cleaned!!. The fact that they were trying to «require» professional services for DUST! (property was empty. we moved), was Mind-​boggling & sickening. After trying to work with them, it became increasingly clear that they had every intention of keeping our security deposit!.. When I deciding to air my grievances, I found that other past residents had the very same problem! They are not a competent company & only rent if you want to loose your deposit.
