The Circus Academy of Tucson teaches classes in circus arts for youth and adults in an open and supportive environment. Students can train in aerial acrobatics, balance, prop and acrobatic skills. Circus training at the academy helps youth and adult students alike to build strength, self-​confidence and have fun!

History

Established in 2015.

The Circus Academy of Tucson was opened in 2015 by Katherine Tesch and her crew of instructors. Katherine has 9 years experience developing and running circus programing.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Katherine has nine years experience running youth and adult circus programs and in that time she has developed a unique curriculum that provides a safe and strong circus education.

Her early background was in dance and while she was getting her degree from the U of A she began training in aerial acrobatics. Her circus skills include aerial silks, trapeze, lyra, sling, rope, stilt dance and acrobatics, poi and staff spinning and tightrope and globe walking.

She has had the opportunity to perform and train all over the world at at the New England Center for Circus Arts, Circo Piccolino in Brazil, Air Dance Moscow in Russia, Streb Extreme Action Company and the Pilobolus Dance Theater.

She has had the opportunity to write and direct five original works, innovating the apparatus used for aerial acrobatics.

In addition, she has trained with professional aerial riggers and has a strong background in rigging and safety. She has her Fingerprint Clearance and First Aid/​CPR certification.
