Ate here for the first time last month, and we thought it was quite good, had the combination plate of chili relleno, cheese enchilada, a beef taco with retried beans and Spanish rice. It was all good(I’ve had better Mexican food) but to much cheese and topping, could’nt tell where the separate items were. the taco shell was over done, should have ordered a soft taco. The refried beans and the bean dip were really good! Service was adequate. Will give another try and plan on visiting the one here in Sierra Vista.

Decided to have dinner here at 8 pm. It was a group of 6. I ordered«flautas» which ARENOT what I am accustomed to being«rolled tacos» :( They are actually mini chimichangas. My cousin orfered menudo and she had to send it back due to it tasting«old» and mushy. She then ordered«cocido» which was much better. My sister ordered a «caldo de pollo» it was awesome. I would definitely order that next time. The chile verde my mom ordered was also tasty. Here’s the problem, the tip is automatically added to our bills(we got 3 separate bills) but our server DIDNOT mention that. Sadly, the service was not good and 2 people in our group left a tip not knowing it had been included. SOBEWARE!!!

I give some of the waitresses 1 star and the food 5 We eat there about 5 times a month and take people there all the time… Last night The waitresses acted like they don’t speak English. I ordered 2 tostada ceviche and the really bad waitress that I can’t get along with no matter how often I go there wanted to charge me 19.99 because I wanted my fish in a Togo cup… finally convinced the other waitress that I just wanted 2 tostadas not the Ceviche by the pound. I wouldn’t write this because they are our go to place when we aren’t sure where to go, but some of our party does speak Spanish and they treated them like crap too. Sunday night we went there for menudo and the other staff was friendly and laughing with us… So why do the weekday waitresses treat me like I’m not there when I’m there 2 times a week.

Been here like 12 times. Could it be better? sure… But for what it is and where it is. A great buy for a pretty dog gone good lunch or dinner. Tacos were good, came to the table fresh and hot. Enchiladas the same freshly made and hot. I am not a fan of their enchilada sauce but it is good enough… Service is always good and friendly. The wait staff has been there a long time and know the food very well and can suggest meals. They also get to know you if you are a regular– It will remain as one of our default places to stop and eat

Pros: was seated fairly quickly. Food came out quickly Chips were very good. different than your«run of the mill» mex resturaunt chips. Bean dip Salsa looked different but was very good. I believe I tasted Frijoles and Green Chiles. nice take on a salsa. I didn’t try the Salsa Bar. so I can’t rate it… Go figure Cons: service stunk. It was as if the server had forgotten we were there, and there is only about four other people in the restaurant. One of the other servers(shorter gal w/long dark hair) had to got our waitress for us for more iced tea. She was at the bar gabbing with other employees Had Green Verde combo. Had different taste than other Chile Verde’s that I had tried in the past but in in a more positive way. I will try them again to see if service is better than what I experienced.

Wow they have really raised the prices! And the service today was not good. It’s no longer a good value for money.

Man, I have been on a streak with being disappointed on Unilocal reviews. This place had some good ones. To Start this place is dirty. The Table we sat on still had fresh salsa spilt on it, and other wet spots. The floor was visibly dirty, pieces of chips and dirt. I ordered the sampler plate that has a hard shell taco, enchilada, and chile relleno. The sauce poured over the chile and enchilada was just tomato sauce thickened with flour. The meat from the taco was very salty. The lattuce they topped the dish with was obviously old. The waitress was this stereotypical(sharpie drawn on eyebrows) Latina with gum in her mouth and the aggressive attitude. Never checked in on us, only to leave the check. The prices aren’t bad. Overall, the service I don’t care for, the dirty table somewhat bothered me, but the food quality is the main reason I am not coming back here.

Normally, I would give them 5 stars, but all the inconsistencies are ruining it for me. I always get the chimichanga de chile verde. Sometimes it’s about 8 inches long, but today it was five inches long. Sometimes they forget entirely to put the sour cream and guacamole in the box. Today we were lucky to receive about 1⁄3 a teaspoon of each. This is a $ 9.00 dish with no sides. And, for the first time, the chile verde tasted a little odd and dry. We have both been making frequent trips to the bathroom since lunch, if you get my drift. I’m not going back… there are way too many other options for Mexican food in Tucson.

This is for the Sierra Vista location — friend and I went for lunch and we were seated outside, which was fine as the inside seating was super limited. We placed a very simple order from the lunch menu(a burrito combo plate and 2 tostadas); it took them one hour to bring us our food. The waitress did not provide any update on why it was taking so long(pretty sure she forgot to turn in our order) and did not return until she was bringing the food out. I might have overlooked the bad service, had it not been for the subpar food, I waited an hour for two burnt up tostada shells and some cold fish thrown on it??? In fact, the couple who was seated 20 minutes later after us, actually received their food before us, super disappointed in the food and the service was awful. I will not be returning and nor would I recommend this establishment to anyone unless they were my enemy and I wanted them to have a bad lunch/dinner.

For the price and the amount of food you get they get 5 stars from me. Me and my buddy that works at the Ford dealership come here for lunch and it’s well worth it.

Like consulting Pythia beneath the Castalian spring, I saw my mortality in the brick red chorizo oil. «Don’t do it. Don’t do it…» «It will be delicious… delicious« Echoes of an ageless battle between good and evil, between righteous and wretched… Who am I kidding? Chorizo and queso blanco melted together with fresh jalapeño? — I dove in with floaties made of soft warm flour tortillas! The Choriqueso at Taco Giro is delicious. Dirty dirty delicious. I’ve read this theory before(John M’s review of Birrieria Guadalajara) that the scarier a Mexican restaurant looks on the outside, the more delicious the food will be on the inside. I gotta believe this to be true, and this certainly is the case for Taco Giro. The restaurant is located on a semi-sketchy stretch of 22nd street, right next to a DQ and a Guero Canelo. The parking lot is rough, the neighborhood rough– but inside is some pretty tasty Mexican food. Chips and magical refried bean sauce were brought to our table quickly. FYI, you get your own salsa from the salsa bar which has both hot, mild, and fresh tomato-onion-cilantro, pickled onions and roasted jalapeños. All good stuff. (I mention this only because I stared at the empty bowl that was brought out with the chips… for like 5 minutes. It bugged me. What the hell is this for? Where is the salsa?) Oh. Get your own, gringo. I ordered a Bohemia… cold. No glass no lime, as intended. My wife and I shared an appetizer of Choriqueso which comes with a small side of guacamole. My only gripe… only two yummy flour tortillas to gobble this molten love mass down. I’m sure I could have asked for more, but I didn’t want to be that fat kid. My wife ordered cheese enchiladas, which she enjoyed very much. She is a self proclaimed Mexican food snob, so when she says it’s good– it’s good. I ordered a shredded beef taco, cheese enchilada, rice and refried. All good– classic Tucson Mexican chow. Service was good and pleasant, so thank you Lucía! Taco Giro also serves up some mean Mexican seafood, super cheap fish tacos on Tuesdays, and some badass breakfasts– all with a full bar! Taco Giro you are a keeper.

Have driven by for years and finally decided to try. Cute restaurant and the staff is super friendly and attentive. Excellent pork chile verde burrito. get it with sauce and cheese on top. One of the best I’ve had! Hubby had a combo plate #21 — cheese enchilada, chili rellano & crispy carnitas taco. Yum! In our 2nd visit we tried the queso fundito… it was just ok. Liked the touch of added jalepenos but it seemed microwaved and it was clumpy and greasy. We will stick to la parilla suiza for our queso fundito cravings. All in all we enjoy the food here and will be frequent visitors!

Hmm… the inside is painted like a cave and when there is a large, loud party or two, it echoes like a cave and conversation is impossible. Dinner here the other night with Hubby and Mom was a compromise. Mom wanted to eat at restaurant that I refuse to go to, so I suggested here instead. This is better than that place, but not by much. Their menu has expanded since the last time we were here and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. We didn’t try anything from the seafood side of the menu, but the flavors of the old side weren’t as good as they had been. I got the basic cheese enchilada and beef taco. The taco was fine, ground beef, shredded lettuce, yellow cheese. The cheese enchilada was oily as if it sat too long in the baking pan. The beans have lost the good lardy flavor they had in the past. Hubby got the tampiquena. He liked it, but it wasn’t anything to remember. Mom got a cheese enchilada, beef taco and a tamal. She liked her meal, but not as much as if we had gone to the other place. Our waiter was attentive. He was very friendly. Especially after we had to change tables to accommodate one of the large parties that came in. I ended up sitting in a corner and was unable to hear any of our conversation for the rest of our dinner. We’ll have to think about coming back here in the future.

True to my review, I came back again. I couldn’t wait to try something else! This time, I had the Huervos Rancheros, which was perfectly cooked and filling! The salsa was tasty and I tried enough of the fijitas to say that it was very good. The Guacamole was very creamy and delicious. The language barrier made asking questions a little confusing both times, but they are nice and try to answer your question. I’ll just post photos as I keep coming here and only update my review if anything about this place changes. I am so glad to have found Taco Giro and will continue to eat here!

We have frequented this joint on and off the last 7 years. It is very popular with a true following of regulars. Their prices are solid for authentic Mexican food(they do have american type menu items as well) They open at 7AM so they have a very nice breakfast menu with authentic items such as Chilaquiles(my favorite). We have been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and never had a bad meal. This past visit — I had the Chilaquiles and the hubby had the Huevos Rancheros. BOTH delicious. They start you off with chips and this amazing bean dip which tastes good even at breakfast! They also have an incredible self serve salsa bar with homemade sauces. The service is always incredibly friendly. This is a REALLY good Mexican restaurant. Nicer than taco shop level… their food is as good as fancier Mexican restaurants. Yes, we are fans for SURE.

Many, many times I have been at this spot but always to get a DQ. Never knew what a great little Mexican restaurant this was until a friend insisted we go for lunch. I loved it. Very relaxing and welcoming. Friendly servers who checked on us frequently to make sure everything was OK. Generous servings of tasty food at a great price. Salsa bar is delectable and goes with the bean dip they bring to your table. I had the cheese enchiladas offered as a lunch special and they were very tasty. It feels like it’s a neighborhood favorite, especially with the Happy Hour from 6 – 10. Not too sure about that dramatic cock fighting painting over our table but there it was. Looking forward to my return.
