Sugar Song Cakes

We had Lorie make signature cupcakes and a topper cake for our wedding and I could not have been happier with how everything turned out. We got so many compliments from guests about the delicious cupcakes she made. After the wedding, we figured out that there was a mix-​up about whether I wanted filling in the signature cupcakes (I assumed they would come with filling but didn’t specify what kind, which Lorie took to mean I didn’t want filling). Lorie was extremely accommodating and refunded part of my money so that I felt satisfied with the outcome and well-​taken care of. I think the true measure of a business owner is not just how much success they have, but how they handle failure. Lorie handled everything like a pro and I would recommend her to anyone!

Lorie, the cake was AMAZING!!! Our wedding was last week and the cake was moist, delicious and she even worked in metal flowers I had strung together into the design:) The second tier was gluten free for my husband and Lorie is a perfect mix of talent, detail-​oriented focus and easy-​going personality that accommodated changes with care, competence and kindness. Days after the wedding I was still receiving compliments and receiving requests from guests for Lorie’s information for future events. Thank you again Lorie for making my wedding day a complete success and for being a blessing and a joy in my life!

Lori made my cake for my wedding last year and I couldn’t say enough good things about the cake. She has a large selection of flavors of cake, filling, and buttercream. Someone had to fight to save the top tier of our cake to save for our first anniversary… it was THAT good! Lori hand crafted a gorgeous fondant flower that spanned the entire front of the cake. It was so much better than I ever could have imagined. I will use her for ANY special events I have in the future!

Lorie did the wedding cakes for my wedding. Wow. We had a tier cake with Mexican Hot Chocolate with Red Chili Chocolate Ganache and also Almond and Raspberry filling, like a linzer tart.
She also did my grooms cake which was the Yankee Logo. Amazing it looked just like the real thing. It was German Chocolate. It was amazing.
We got married in Flagstaff and she delivered the cake all the way up there (This was a special delivery but very much appreciated)
As far as price she is not the cheapest as I rated the price as pricey however she is reasonable for the product and you get an Ultra High End Product at a lower the Ultra High End Price.
I would recommend her again and again as she was professional, courteous, and was wonderful to work with.

My wife and I were thrilled with the cake Lorie made for our wedding. Our cake was planned principally over a tasting done at a Starbucks (as Sugar Song has no storefront). Lorie brought a large box containing a platter with samples of every cake, icing and filling she works with, along with a few new things she was trying. We spent over an hour together discussing what look we wanted for our cake while mixing and matching flavor combinations from the platter according to Lorie’s recommendations and our own whims. Lorie also came equipped with her iPad to show us cakes she and others had made in the past so we could better picture what we wanted. What I loved about this experience (in addition to the incredible flavors) was the fact that Lorie really took what WE initially wanted, gave some patient and gentle input based on her incredible talent and experience and then took the time for us to convey OUR refined opinion on what we were looking for in light of our discussion. The rest is history… she made it happen. Lorie is truly a CUSTOM cake maker in every sense of the word. My wife and I sampled many cakes at different wedding planning events and private tastings and nothing stacked up to Sugar Song in terms of taste, beauty and willingness to make our vision a reality. Other vendors said some of our requests were not feasible… Lorie made them happen. Other vendors pre paired their icings, cakes and fillings… Lorie came equipped for us to mix and match using her guidance for what flavor and cosmetic combinations would work best. Other vendors made us feel like planning our cake was color by number or multiple choice… Lorie gave us the complete freedom appropriate for a cake maker who is really an artist who has no limits. Lorie made beautiful edible flowers and an edible Chinese character (for my wife’s Chinese family) on the cake. Crafting these items is incredibly time consuming and Lorie’s pricing was more than reasonable. What I’m saying here is that Sugar Song really has no competition in Tucson. If you’ve seen photos of Lorie’s cakes, had a tasting with her and discussed her prices, the choice for your special event cake will be obvious and easy.
The end result of our interaction with Lorie was a cake more beautiful and delicious than either of us thought possible. Lorie turned our somewhat vague vision of what we wanted into a tangible work of art that we really could not have foreseen at the beginning of our planning process. During and after our reception the most common comment we got from people regarding any material aspect of the wedding was roughly «That cake was the best I’ve ever had and it looked amazing!!!» the second most common was «Is there any left? Did you save any??» The answer is that we did manage to save a bit… but we’re not sharing!

Lorie is fantastic! I immediately clicked with her and that makes a huge difference to me when picking some to create a cake for my wedding day! She does fantastic work by the pictures and after our tasting I knew I didn’t have to look any farther :)) And the best part is she had banned cake pops but when I told her my fiancé loves them and wanted them for our wedding she said she would do it for us no problem! Our wedding is in 2 months and I am so excited to eat our cake pops!

I am still soo satisfied by Lorie’s cakes! Lorie made an amazing graduation cake for me. Everyone at the restaurant raved about how amazing it looked. It was definitely a show stopper. My guests who were from Miami, Jamaica and Phoenix raved about how delicious the cake was. My boyfriend was so happy to see his vision come to life with Lorie’s help. All my guests agreed that not only was it so creative but that the cake was moist and delicious. We all agreed that is something that is very hard to find and with all the cakes I have ordered from Lorie this is something that is always consistent; BEAUTIFUL AND EQUALLY DELICIOUS. Since my first review we have had a Thanksgiving cake and graduation cake from Lorie. I just ordered a Valentine’s cake as well… If this doesn’t convince you to use her I do not know what will! She is the best of the best.

I knew before I even met Lorie that I wanted her to make our wedding cake. We met Lorie and instantly fell in love with her. She is the most down to earth, funny and sweet person. Her cakes are the most amazing tasting cakes we have ever had. My husband does not like cake but he will eat Sugar Song cakes! Her cakes are so moist and the frosting is simply pefect.
We decided on lemon cake with lemon and raspberry filling with an almond buttercream frosting. Honestly, the best frosting I have ever tasted. I couldn’t wait to eat our cake on our wedding day. Lorie created a beautiful 4 tiered cake with fresh flowers and ribbon. It couldn’t have been more perfect. She also made a grooms cake for my husband, who is a police officer. She made a 3D penguin wearing a police uniform… the cake is an orange blossom with chocolate ganache, which was also delicious.
We were so happy with Lorie and our guests went crazy over the cake! Even the photographer and our ceremony site wanted to know who made our cake! She does nothing but amazing work. I plan on using Lorie in the future and have none nothing but refer her to everyone I know!
My husband and I are still talking about our wedding cake and how we might just have to order a small round cake in our wedding cake flavor to hold us over until our 1 year anniversary because we are still craving her cakes! Thank you for making our day so perfect, Lorie!!!

Used for our wedding, everything was perfect, from the cake being exactly what the picture was to the 4 different flavors used, my favorite being chocolate mole!

I have nothing but positive feedback for Lorie and Sugar Song Cakes. I ordered our specialty cake over the internet and unfortunately couldn’t communicate via phone due to a significant time change. Lorie was wonderful about asking questions and sharing photos to suggest ideas. Together we figured out a design and size that accommodated my budget and event.
Lorie went above and beyond delivering the cake so that it was perfect when we arrived at out destination. The cake was exactly as she’d described with beautiful colors and flavors. (The salted caramel is not to be missed.) My friend was so overcome she cried!
The only improvement would have been to include more cards as we shared the cake with other customers and they all wanted to know where to get their own.
I would order again from Sugar Song Cakes in a heartbeat and recommend them for any custom cake need.

Lorie is wonderful to work with. She did both the wedding cake and groom’s cake for our wedding this past summer. I was not a bride who had envisioned my cake but gave her some general ideas. Even from a distance she helped me with the design of the cake by sending several ideas to me. Our reception was in a historic hotel and she helped us find something that fit our taste and the setting — it’s the white cake with purple ribbons and ruffle flowers in the pictures. My husband and I had already sampled several of her cakes at other events so had flavors in mind but she still made us wonderful samples.
She went above and beyond on the groom’s cake. My husband’s passion is the the NY Yankees (he grew up there, what can I say). I asked for the standard Yankee symbol with the bat. We not only got the design but it was in 3D. He had some idea but no idea of the extra care she took. Both cakes really helped to make the day.
No matter what event I’ve been to, the cake (s) have been a much discussed and appreciated part of the evening.

Lorie, the lady behind Sugar Song Cakes, is a pleasure to work with. She was generous in accommodating my last-​minute need for a baby shower cake, and she did a wonderful job.
I ordered an 8-​inch round with pink butter cream flowers and disco dust — so beautiful! Flavor was vanilla with raspberry almond filling.
There was a slight mix up with the wording on the cake, but Lorie resolved the problem quickly and was very professional in handling it.

Lorie’s cakes are so amazing that my mouth is watering just thinking about writing this review (and I am being totally serious right now!!)
I have had the pleasure of experiencing Lorie’s wedding cakes at three of my friends’ weddings. Each one was gorgeous and delicious. I normally dont eat cake at weddings (I didn’t even have a piece at my brother’s wedding!) but I couldnt help but eat two pieces of Sugar Song cake at each event.
I live in California but have many friends in AZ and that’s when I’ve had Lorie’s cakes. A few months ago I went down to visit and decided I needed to order some cupcakes while I was there… my friends and I went in on a cupcake order and got a variety of flavors. My absolute favorite is the White almond sour cream with american almond buttercream. It was quite comical when we finally did dive in and have cupcakes after dinner. Judging by the sounds coming from our mouths you wouldn’t think that we were eating cupcakes. They are THAT GOOD!
Lorie is very professional and is just an amazing person too. She is always looking into new techniques and learning new and exciting things to do with cakes and cupcakes.
I would recommend Sugar Song Cakes to ANYBODY who wants a cake that not only looks amazing but tastes phenomenal. You dont have to settle for one or the other! And you will never want any other cake!

I have had the pleasure of consuming some amazing cupcakes/​cakes from Lorie’s magical hands. I have tried a variety of flavors and each one is better than the last and they are all orgasmic for sure. I’m trying to decide which one I loved the best but it would be unfair to pick just one. I live in California but have plenty of friends in AZ that have contracted her to provide beauuuutiful wedding cakes for their weddings. 4 of us even went so far as to pool our money together and order cupcakes just to indulge in the last time I was there.
She does not back down from a flavor challenge and her creativity goes far beyond your wildest imagination. She is a beautiful human being inside and out and that shows through in the care and dedication she brings with each cake. I would recommend her to anyone and hope that she will do my wedding cake in California someday… you know, when I find the groom ;-)

We also tried one of Lories cakes at a mutual friends reception, so when it came time to plan our wedding (which was last weekend) we immediately contacted her about a cake.
She was amazing. Since she was busy being cakey in Tucson and I was unable to get down there to discuss the cake, we ended up doing everything by email. She was so through! She emailed me a few sketches and was super open to my ideas as well. In the end we got a gorgeous 3 tier cake (2 flavors) and cupcakes for our reception.
My cake was AWESOME! Alternating red velvet (everyone said it was hands down the best red velvet theyd ever had) and spice cakes. We did a baseball theme so the bottom tier had bats in fondant, middle tier had what looked like polka dots in our colors from far away (up close they were actually baseballs), and baseball stitching on the top tier. I couldnt be happier w/​how it turned out. It was beautiful and delicious.

We asked Lorie if she would make our wedding cake as we had seen and tasted a cake she made for a mutual friend. We told her we trusted her talent and creativity. We said our wedding «colors» were blue and brown and to just go for it. That’s all the direction we gave her. The cake could not have been more amazing or perfect! Each layer meant something different and personal for myself or my husband. The bottom layer had the lyrics to my favorite song as well as the song that was sung in our wedding. She did 3 different flavors to cover all tastes. The cake was SO incredible that everyone ate the entire cake including the top layer that was supposed to be saved for our anniversary. I truly couldn’t blame them! We had our 1 year anniversary last month and asked Lorie to make us an anniversary cake. She made the cake to match our wedding cake colors and made it our favorite flavor (a Mexican hot chocolate with red chile ganache… out of this world!). This time we got to enjoy and savor every bite except what we shared with her and some close friends. Oh and I forgot to mention… she is in Tucson and our wedding was in Sedona! She had to assemble the cake once she got there and it was STILL amazing!
If you want an incredibly delicious cake that will look as phenomenal as it tastes and someone who will go the extra mile to make your special day (be it wedding, bday, anniversary, etc) absolutely perfect, consider Sugar Song Cakes. You will get rave reviews from all who share in it!
