I really like this place.
I just got a bike here, and while I was shopping around I noticed lots of other customers come through, of all kinds; an older fellow with a funky compact bike, a pair of beautiful young women, a young man who seemed wound-​up a little too tight, a trio of Mormon missionaries, and several others, and everyone got the same good service. This is despite the fact that it was very busy and they were all doing several things at once: fixing bikes, answering calls, etc. I don’t know how they do it, honestly, but I was very impressed.
It is not a huge shop, but they had bikes of just about every category on the floor: road and tri bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers, hybrids, etc.
They were doing a ton of service work, and it all seemed very reasonable, and lots of repeat customers were coming in to drop off or pick things up.
I have pretty bad social anxiety, so I almost didn’t leave the house this morning, but I’m glad I did! If *I* feel comfortable someplace, you know it’s a friendly place :)

There are several bike shops closer to where I live, but when my bicycle needs maintenance I drive the extra distance because these guys are the best. I took my bike here for a tune-​up recently and Paul fixed a frayed cable at no extra charge. If they aren’t busy, they will even fix your bike while you wait. Highly recommended.

Last week, I was fortunate to spend a few days vacationing in Tucson with my wife and her family. I had packed my road cycling shoes & pedals with the idea of renting a bike and getting in a ride or two while my wife spent time with her mother and sister shopping. I had not reserved a bike at anywhere because we wanted to keep our plans open. By Monday morning I knew I would have time to ride and I called Roadrunner Bicycles with the hope that they would have a road bike available in my size. A friendly voice answered the phone & told me that they had bikes available and to come on in. When I arrived, they had just opened and were already dealing with a few customers. After a very short wait, I was greeted by Gene and even though they were having a very busy morning, he gave me his full attention to find the right bike, go over it thoroughly (replaced a tube, adjusted the dérailleur, etc), and then set me up with a bike rack (which he put on the car). Thanks to Roadrunner, I was able to get in a couple of great rides — exploring Tucson and working off Bobo’s pancakes at the same time!
I was very impressed with the customer service and the friendly feel of Roadrunner Bicycles — a real credit to Gene and Elliot (and Nahla). I had an excellent experience with Roadrunner Bicycles and I will definitely go there next time I’m in Tucson.

My favorite east side bike shop. I’ve used them for maintenance and parts for several years. Good folk. I like that they’re family oriented and don’t have attitude.

I happen to stumble on this gem as I was visiting from out of town. I live in bicycle-​crazy Boulder, Colorado, where a bike shop HAS to be good to stay in business, and I’d rank Roadrunner right up there with Boulder’s best. I bought a classic steel Colnago and had it shipped home. It came packed like it was my grandmother’s Waterford china! Paul was awesome to deal with, and definitely went the extra mile with friendliness and service!

A friend was bringing her daughter to U of A as a transfer, and they needed a good, affordable school commuter. I called and spoke with Paul, who was great help and set aside a good choice for her. When they showed up, he fit the bike to her, had her test ride, and set her up with everything she needed. To all at Roadrunner, especially Paul, thanks for taking good care of my buddy, Meister.

Three or so years ago, after shopping for a new bicycle, I settled on the Giants at Roadrunner Bicycles. I know that bicycles are a personal taste thing. I tried other brands. I really liked the feel of Treks. They are pricey. But I found a great hybrid bicycle in the Giant Escape. Roadrunner was the only one that had such a bike. I went to six shops in Tucson metro, all the big names. They all have nice bikes and a nice selection. But surprisingly, Giant, at least at that time, I don’t know about now, was the only one to have a hybrid, light in weight, 700 mm (29″) tires for smoother and faster rolling, and narrow road tires rather than knobby mountain bike type tires.
As a side note, but in a related way, Giant is the frame maker for the big names in the business: Trek, Specialized, Schwinn, Bontrager, Colango, and Bianchi. They are the largest bike frame manufacturer in the world. Their brand name bikes are cheaper than most of the others named above. It looks like Roadrunner is the only Giant dealer in town.
Roadrunner Bicycles, though somewhat small in square footage, has a nice inventory with a wide range of models and price levels for anyone. I have been using my bike for the last three years and absolutely love it. Every purchase of a new bike comes with a lifetime maintenance agreement for annual minor tune ups (brake, chain, and dérailleur adjustment) and one major tune up (the minor tune up plus truing your wheels).
Prices on their accessories are very reasonable and they do not excessively charge on their labor, either. Service has always been very friendly and helpful. When I purchased my bike, I wanted a taller stem extension and he swapped one out with no charge.
They are located on the north side of Broadway just west of Wilmot. For you foodies, it is a few doors east from Calle Tepa and the new Paradise Bakery Café, or just a tad east of Jason’s Deli.

I am newish to Tucson When I got here I decided to pick up cycling on a whim. I was driving down Broadway and just happened to see their store. It was the first place I stopped and it is the last place I will go. These guys do old school business. When I bought my bike they gave me everything that wasn’t the bike that I would need to get home for free. To include a free mounted headlight. In addition to being proficient at their jobs and having a well stocked inventory they are interested in piping newcomers in to local cycling culture. They gave me a free copy of Tailwinds and a publication with all of GABA’s (Greater Arizona Bicycling Association) organized rides. It is clear that they are all passionate about their respective forms of cycling and it comes through in their work. I can’t say enough good things about Roadrunner Bicycles so I will just end this review with a five star rating and hope that cycling enthusiasts in the Tucson area find out for themselves that this is the best bike shop in Tucson.

I buy all my bikes here, just haven’t needed to go elsewhere. They are super friendly fixed my bike that had gotten smashed by someone who should never drive. They aren’t inexpensive but you get what you pay for!

I brought my bike in for a $ 85 «tune up» but all that was done to it was new tubes and brake pads. So after a couple days of riding the piece on the back tire breaks off and ruined the whole bike. I took it in and was told checking the chain wasn’t part of the tune up? Isn’t the chain the main part? So I’m now it $ 85 and they refuse to touch the bike… I hate this place!

I took my bike in for a tune up and had a great conversation with Elliot. He enlightened me about features on bike I didn’t know, a few products that might help make my bike commute to work easier — but NOT high pressure sales. They were really great and prompt. My bike was ready within less than 24 hours. They remembered my name when I picked up the bike and could tell me in detail all the adjustments made on my bike. It was personalized service I really appreciated. I’ll definitely return to this shop for all my bicycle needs.

Look I am all for chains and all for local businesses but when it comes to bike shops GO LOCAL. I stopped in at lunch today asked a couple questions to get a feel for their know how and brought my bike in later today.

Personable, friendly, helpful, caring, and low pressure. I have never felt so relaxed spending money and will definitely be back.

They have lots of bikes, reasonable prices, a decent accessory selection, and from the signs they even rent bikes.
Prices = Great
They are competitively priced and even if they are a little higher I would pay more just for their level of service and to keep such a great place open.
My bike was fixed, a plan for tire replacement was created, and I even finally bought a pump that is worth a crap… great experience will be back and I will send friends.

Checked out Roadrunner last week to buy a new bike. I was helped by Chip who was so nice I knew I’d be in good hands. I spent a bit more than what I intended but I definitely don’t regret the purchase. Chip took some measurements and fitted me on a road bike suited for my height. I took it for a test ride and liked how smooth it felt. However, I didn’t like its flat handlebars and asked if it was possible to replace them with drop bars Without hesitation he said it’d be no problem and he only tacked on an extra $ 25 for the parts and labor. Within 3 days I was back to pick up my bike with the new bars! If you’re looking for a new bike, want to rent one for the day or get your current bike serviced I highly recommend Roadrunner. The staff knows their stuff and they’re very approachable even to people like me who don’t know too much about bikes. Check them out!

Love this place! The only reason they don’t get 5 stars from me is the brand selection for new bikes and gear isn’t quite what i’m looking for. Otherwise FANTASTIC shop guys and customer service. Plus, they usually have a stash of older refurb bikes (more my taste anyways) to ogle. For this side of town, I opt for this bike shop above others. Bonus? The shop guys aren’t snobs and they seem to treat everyone who comes in with an equal amount of respect and attention.

Just did a 24-​hour mountain bike rental for $ 35. 2^nd day would have dropped to $ 28. Fairly sure a week’s rental would have been even a better deal per day. Hooked me up w/​a new $ 300 bike and included a nice repair kit, and a map w/​all the bike routes. Friendly and helpful.
Only thing I didn’t really like was that he stressed bringing the bike back clean a little more than I liked. Thought he meant not to bring it back filthy, but when I stopped by in the evening w/​dust, not dirt, he mentioned it again. I made sure it was clean when I returned it the next day, but figured the bike shop should take care of that. After all, it was a mountain bike in the desert, and dirt & dust come with the territory.
