Rite Way Heating Cooling & Plumbing

I can’t believe they are closed on a Saturday.
We traveled all the way from NW Marana to pick up furnace filters. This is a terrible inconvenience.
On top of it, we were in front of the store and saw people there. We called the number and it bounced to another state!!!

Try them for PLUMBING also! I had a clog that I could not unclog, nor could 2 handymen nor 2 other plumbers, but Chris & Marty with Rite Way would not give up, used a number of different size snakes (seems they had more available than other companies) & even though a mishap occurred as can happen, a broken toilet, they were able to UNCLOG me FINALLY & installed a new toilet before leaving. Can finally shower again!!!

Called for an initial check on old unit. They showed up when they were supposed and got my unit running great. Will call them with any future issues.

Rite — Way is the WRONG WAY — Paul informed me the system was not salvageable, stated the coolant level was ok and tried to sell a whole new system for $ 10,000 to $ 12,000 that is $ 3000 to $ 4500 above typical prices I was seeing after some web research.
The disturbing part is 3 people spending that much time fabricating a story to get me to buy an overpriced system. Paul was so nice & seemed trustworthy, Joe Loughney arrived and made the sales pitch… his face fell when I said I would get other estimates.
Next I called Perry — Chris arrived promptly and told me it was low on gas added 2.5 lbs cleaned the heat exchanger and my AC was running in top condition.
It may be a simple thing but gives you a sense of their approach Rite — Way told me that the dryer vent screen was plugged up, Chris from Perry just cleaned it out and never mentioned it.
Always get second opinions and multiple estimates.

They installed our expensive heat pump about 8 years ago and did a good job. We were using them for twice a year maintenance checks. They convinced me about 2 years ago to pay about $ 250/​year for twice a year checks which include free draining of the hot water heater. The first time in for that the technician tried to tell me I needed a new $ 1000 water heater and showed me a «spot» on the inside, which he said was an indication of imminent failure. The water heater, covered by warranty, was fairly new and I knew it was fine, so declined. He did not rest all the cap correctly and we had a leak all over the garage floor. Another plumber came and assured me that the spot meant nothing and the unit was fine. Several other plumbers have told me the same. Of course it is still running well. Too bad some people don’t understand that ultimately honest, good service pays of the most.

I have been using Rite-​way for as long as I can remember. They put our AC unit in 10 yrs ago and I think we were using them before that. Since the AC unit installation, they have been coming out approximately every 6 months to service the unit. The techs are always nice and personable. John D., who came out last, is very friendly and thorough in the service. He is the first one I have ever noticed that vacuumed and flushed the condensation tubing. I will continue to use Rite-​way for all of my AC needs.

We were remodeling our home and needed to install a second A/​C system. We were referred to Riteway by Costco — that was the first sign that this was a reputable company. Kevin (from sales) came to our home and was very professional, talented and knowledgeable. He convinced us to also replace our existing (ancient) A/​C system which would save us in heating/​cooling costs. Kevin took care of us expertly and helped us get an interest free (for 3 years) credit line so that we could afford to replace our existing and install our new A/​C units. On installation day, the manager showed up with Kevin and the installation team to make sure everything went seamlessly. Weeks and even months later we requested to have someone come look at the unit (we were concerned that perhaps the new unit was a little noisy) and Riteway was easy to reach and responded immediately sending technicians and even the manager to hear our concerns and resolve them to our satisfaction. We had a great experience and would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and reputable company to handle their heating/​cooling needs.

Our first time using this company … this technician was recommended to us particularly. We went through the company scheduling to be placed on his schedule. The contact with Rite Way was very nice, and the scheduler was quick, professional and extremely pleasant. Paul was on time, calling to let me know when he would arrive. He was great … helping to educate us about the unit in this house we have recently purchased. He did a thorough inspection, indication which [parts he tested, why and what he recommended. He actually detailed the interior of my gas furnace! the thing is now spotless. He gave us detailed options for service plans, information about parts and maintenance schedules and why. Since we are coming from PA to AZ, the requirements are different for our heating and cooling needs. I will be confidently calling this company again for AC service in the spring.

This is the first time working with this company. My AC went out a couple of nights ago and I had originally contacted another company to come out and fix it (A&M heating and cooling) and they didn’t even show up. I called Rite Way and within the hour someone was at the house ready to go. They were extremely polite and professional on the phone, and the repairman «Andrew» was fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs their AC units fixed.
And as we all know, Tucson is the equivalent to the surface of the sun in the summer. I have become accustomed to my lavish AC lifestyle.

Be weary of sales people masquerading as technicians!
I had a problem with my heater not kicking on properly and called Rite Way. They told me it would be a $ 77 diagnostic charge. When the technician came to my house he tested everything but could not find anything mechanically wrong. He then proceeded to BS me about how the filter that I had was not a filter but a piece of packaging that supposedly should have been thrown out when they installed the heater 11+ years ago. This is false. It says in the owner’s manual that it is a permanent, reusable filter. It even says how to clean and reinstall it which we have done each month for the 11+ years. The technician then told me that because I have left what he called a «pebble catcher» in instead of a paper filter (which wouldn’t even fit) all these years I would need to spend $ 1700 to have the unit cleaned. He then proceeded to try to convince me that it might be time for a new unit for $ 10,000!!! The funny thing is, Rite Way has serviced our unit in the past and other technicians cleaned the permanent filter and replaced it.
The issue I called about was never diagnosed. I am sure they are great when you buy a new system but I am left $ 77 poorer and still no idea what was wrong with my heater.

Because I could not find the name of the company we usually use I called and had Rite-​way inspect our heat/​cool on 11−5−12. The technition came up with parts needing replacement totaling more than $ 1480. My wife was able to find who we had used prior, we had them out and were told that everything is fine and no work needed at this time. Interesting — time will tell who was right but I am betting against Rite-​way for the time being.

I would not use these folks if they paid me to come out! I just moved in, and no hot water. Called them and was told $ 65 diagnostic charge. Fair enough, a house call fee. I SHOULD HAVE ASKED THE PRICE BEFOREHAND! I knew the elements on the HW heater were burned out — not big diagnosis, so I asked them to replace them for me, and while they were at it I needed a toilet flapper and an ice-​maker line for the refer. Two guys were there for MAX 1.5 hours (one guy would do) They jury-​rigged a toilet flapper (TOTO) which leaked a week later — $ 45.00 Ice maker line — $ 149.00 Solid gold? Two water heater elements (about 10 min to replace them, $ 39.00 each at Home Depot) $ 276.00 each, or $ 552.00 for both. Total bill $ 811 and $ 37.43 tax, for a grand total of $ 848.43! Lets see, retail price for the materials, $ 108, diagnostic fee $ 65, so labor was $ 500/​hr! These guys are a solid RIP.

I called Rite Way at 7:30 at night, requesting service ASAP. The call lady said that a service person would have to call me back to give me a quote. I hung up, and a few minutes later received a call from the same lady again, who told me that my service would be overtime and any and all materials/​parts would also be OT charged. Diagnosis would cost $ 125, and no work would be included. Im not completely foreign to the world of A/​C repair, so I asked her if she could quote me on the price of a few hypothetical repairs. She said no, and that quotes would only be given upon a technician coming to my house and charging me $ 125. I told her that I was not interested in their service in that case, and I would encourage you to do the same. I have a good nose for bullshit, and am a business owner myself. This company WREAKS of it. Look at the other reviews, even the good ones mention their questionable methods. If you need 24 hour service in Tucson, call 24 hour heating and cooling, (520) 250‑0716. They do not hide anything from you, their diagnosis fee is $ 30 cheaper than Rite Way and includes the first hour of work. They did work on my business A/​C a few months ago when it went out and did an excellent job (though the technician was a little tardy, the work was expedient and the technician was friendly, informative, and knowledgeable), and now Im having them do my house too. Best service in Tucson, by FAR, so don’t waste your time with these jerk-​offs. They’re after your wallet and nothing more.

These guys are the bomb. Brian came out and diagnosed a bad capacitor, replaced it and had the A/​C back on in no time. So impressed I signed on for their service plan (which on an 11 year old house is a good idea). When it comes time for replacement of system, it’ll be them too. Highly recommend their professional work.

Riteway came out and «fixed» our ac unit. 2 weeks later it was still leaking and we called them back out. The original tech had not opened up our unit the first time and noticed that the pan had cracked. They told us if they couldn’t find another pan they would have to replace the boiler and the pan and that it would cost about $ 1,800. On top of this the techs bad mouth each other, saying the other ones are not doing a good job, they should have done this, etc. The owner was of no help and could care less if he lost us as a customer, which he did. Do not use this company.

These guys ARE great. My old AC unit was close to death and the
tech told me he could fix it for about 1K but that he really recommended replacement. (I knew it needed replacing and was
just trying to squeeze more time out of it).
Chris was their 2 hours later and was patient explaining all my options. The deal was done and 2 days later my new unit was installed. Techs were hardworking very thorough and very polite.
I have used them before and will use them again.
