Power of Touch Massage

First off Raymond has poor business structure, why would you be on the forefront of running your own business into the ground.
I purchased a groupon without looking at Unilocal reviews, poor choice on my part. I bought the 3−30min targeted massage, I reserved my spot a week in advance. The day of I received an email it had been canceled. I then immediately canceled my groupon with them, thankfully I got a refund.
I decided to purchase one for a 60min deep tissue massage. The price was worth it to try one more time. I scheduled it again, the day came for the massage and I received yet again another cancel 30min before my appointment. I decided to call this time no answer just like every other review. I even emailed hi, m no response.
I would not recommend this to anyone, you WILL get canceled on and won’t be able to get in contact with the owner.

Was recommended to come here by a friend. Made an appointment and showed up a few minutes early. Stood outside and waited till 15 minutes past the scheduled time. No one showed up. Extremely annoying waste of time. Apparently this place is competent in what it does, but why waste your time when there are other places that actually keep appointments. Currently, there are 20 reviews, 12 of them are missed appointments. That’s a 60% chance of you dicking around in a parking lot for 30 minutes and getting pissed off.

I made the appointment online, got a confirmation, the person was a NO SHOW. I left several messages and texts without a response. Don’t waste your time or money.

I called for months to schedule for my Groupon appointment no one ever answered, and I was not able to leave a message. It was about 3 weeks out when I finally decided to texted him and I finally heard back from Raymond. He had a bad attitude as soon as he learned I had a Groupon. I explained I did not want to give my credit card out for something I already paid for. So he told me I could texted him my voucher number. I made the earliest appointment I could, 5 weeks later. He has very limited appointment times available for online bookings. I thought ok this guy must be great at what he does, because he’s so busy!
He emailed me the morning of our appointment and asked if I would come ½ hour later. I did, then he was a no show for our appointment. There were 4 notes on the door all from clients who he didn’t show for. I waited a half hour, called, and texted him and he never responded. He has some good reviews, but who wants to do business with someone who treats potential clients with disrespect? In my world you don’t bite the hand that feeds you. Obviously he doesn’t love what he does enough to appreciate the people who have reached out to him. Don’t bother with this business.

I made an appointment online and had to give credit card information in case I did not show up (I would be charged $ 25). I then received a conformation in my email the day before. I arrived at my appointment promptly the next day, waited for 30 min. And the therapist never showed up. I want $ 25 for his no show. If this guy had to pay no show fees when he didn’t show up for his clients, he would probably be out of business. What a waste of my time. Can’t imagine customer service gets any worse.

Scheduled an appointment online with him. I took time off work to arrive at my appointment as that was the only time I could book since he seems like he has a pretty busy schedule. When I arrived 15 minutes early the place was dark and locked. No one was in the building. That’s fine, they still have another 15 minutes to arrive. 0 Minutes now, still no one. 10 minutes past the appointment time, no one has shown up.
Now I start calling the number he provided. No one answers, goes to voicemail, can’t leave a message because the inbox is full. Try again. No one answers. Repeat 20 times, still no answer.
The funny thing is, I received a confirmation email about my appointment the day before notifying me of the time and place and a «See you soon!» Guess that didn’t happen. No one contacted me that my appointment was cancelled, which would have been okay if they did, because I would reschedule. Now I won’t. I won’t deal with this level of unprofessional-​ism.

I heard of this establishment through Groupon, but when I showed up for my appointment the Office was locked. I called the business phone number and it went straight to The voicemail box which was full. There was no option to leave a message. Bad business.

Horrible place.
My first appointment was cancelled the day before, by e-​mail. Then I rescheduled an appointment, by on line, because no one ever answers. Then when I showed up for the appointment, no one is there!!!

Truly amazing! Raymond has fabulous strong hands and managed to get the knots out of my muscles, even the deep knots! Wish I lived in Tucson to come more often.

For starters — Raymond is just a cool dude which scores major points in my book! I was in Tucson for work (from phoenix) and decided to get a massage. I truly wasn’t expecting anything great — I don’t know anyone in Tucson for a referral. Enter Raymond — WOW. I mentioned that I drive a TON for work and I am also a crossfit athlete. He states that he works on a ton of crossfitters — Hooray! By far the best, and most extreme massage I have ever had. He knows his stuff — he knows where it hurts, where to work and how to make it better. If you’re looking for a «moisture massage» where they just rub you with lotion this is not your place. If you’re looking for a damn good, sometimes painful but oh — so worth it massage — Raymond is your guy. He did a lot of stretching as well as trigger point and deep tissue on me and it’s just what I needed. I will absolutely be back anytime I visit Tucson. He also fit me in on very short notice. Finally — his rates are incredible. I’d give 10 stars if I could — Raymond rocks!

It seems like I have had a similar experience to a few other’s. Have made appointments with Power of Touch three times with Raymond or Ruben. My first two appointments were cancelled the day of the appointment. Today was my third appointment. I waited in the waiting room for 20 minutes without anyone ever showing up. I called and it went straight to a full voicemail. The lobby is gross and unclean. There was mold growing off of the water fountain. Definitely do not waste your time with this place.

You get what you pay for.
My first appointment was cancelled at the last minute. Raymond said he would «comp» me 30 minutes for free for my next appointment. At my next appointment, he was running late. He then told me that he could only give me a 15 minute massage due to scheduling.
So, in 24 hours time he cancelled, upgraded me, then downgraded my massage time. The 15 minute massage was not deep pressure, it was painful and left bruises.
He said that my NEXT massage would be the «free 60 minutes.»
SO, I showed up for that scheduled massage. NO ONE SHOWED UP. The voice mail was full, the door was locked and I WAS NEVER CONTACTED.
Please be warned that the communication is poor, the timeliness and reliability is poor. In addition, the massage is POOR.

So I’m sitting outside Power of Touch. It’s been 25 minutes since my confirmed (scheduled online) appt. Where is my masseur? A no show? And the voicemail is full. I don’t know… what to call this. :-(
UPDATE: Before leaving the studio, I left a note for Raymond. I never received a courtesy call back. All raving reviews aside, I’m very disappointed. Eek! Methinks not.

Should rank as a 4.5 to 5 star but for some reviews which are questionable.
Raymond has tremendous stretching and deep tissue techiques, and in short, was fantastic. He provided one of the best massages i have had, and i try to go 3 to 4 times a month, and have done so for the past 20 years. I have to laugh at some of the other negative reviews i read, one being from another massage therapist who complimented him in many ways, then gave him two stars.
The other, who missed booking his coupon, and gave him 1 star as a result, thinking that a $ 10 add-​on was not fair. If you try out Raymond, you will see he is very inspired and great at what he does. He is a great fit for anyone who wants both a focused massage for trouble areas, as well as a good stretching, which i thought to be a version of the Thai massages, but even better!
I will be back, and appreciate your great work and dedication to your clients. I am sending my wife in later today, thanks for finding room for her in your schedule.

I’ve only been to Raymond once, but my wife goes regularly. He is a true professional and if you are at all into athletics or working out you NEED to see him. He will work muscles and tightness you didn’t realize you had. As active crossfitters his massages really help break down the stiffness. Along with massages he is a really great guy and fun to chat with. He is happy to put on calming music, but I prefer rock and roll and I enjoyed listening to Led Zepplin while getting a massage. I can’t recommend him enough.

I have seen Raymond for approximately 10 months now and I don’t plan on ever seeing anyone else. He is very accommodating and attentive to your needs. He protects his clients’ privacy and is very respectful! He gets to know you as a person and also gets to know your history and that is very important. Its important because he never fails to follow up and always asks for your feedback and requests. I’ve walked in telling him exactly what I wanted, which most the time will not be a pleasant massage but a much needed Rolfing/​deep tissue massage. I get exactly what I need because he makes it a comfortable environment where you can make therapeutic requests. I can literally walk in with tightness, which prevents me from lifting, and walk out being able to work out again! A noteworthy mention is that as talented as a therapist as he is, he is humble and gracious enough to give back to our community. He has sponsored events benefiting the local MDA office, the Arizona Homicide Survivor fund and continues to give to the community. This is the kind of person you want to help you in reaching your health goals! Talented.Honest.Respectful.Professional.

I see Raymond at least three days a month and have for 6 months or so. Raymond is very tuned in to what I need (which changes frequently). I am an athlete, a business owner, law enforcement officer, mom of three nearly 40 year old woman and I lead an exceptionally busy and active life. He knows that there are times he needs to fix me up with deep tissue/​sports massage and stretching so I can be effective as an athlete but is equally as tuned into giving me a massage that will truly relax me so I can re-​focus in all the other aspects of my crazy life.
Regarding his skill levels, Raymond is highly qualified. I have had many massages in Tucson but nothing that can compare with Raymond’s skill level. Most I would put in the «professional oil rub down» category versus a functional massage. When I go in and tell him my psoas is bothering me from sprinting, Raymond gets in and fixes it. Raymond keeps me moving for all the things I do and has been a huge part of helping me heal from chronic fatigue from adrenal problems that started wracking havoc on my ability to be functional and do everything I need to do. He knows what he’s doing.
Raymond schedule is busy because he’s in high demand with a large number of regulars (like me). I wouldn’t wait til a Groupon is about to expire to schedule with him then get mad when he can’t accommodate. There are only so many hours in a day. Raymond is a professional, he’s fair, underpriced for his skill level, and just a good person. Treat him right and you will have a loyal partner in your wellbeing and health for life.

I never got a massage. My complaint is customer service related. I had a groupon and tried to call to schedule an appointment 8 days before the expiration. Now I am usually pretty good at not waiting until the last moment to use a groupon; it had unfortunately just slipped my mind as I was given it as a gift. He informed he was all booked for the month of May, but was willing to offer a «generous compromise» of the non-​promotional value of my groupon and $ 10 off his regular rate instead of the groupon that was originally purchased for me. I replied that I would probably just want a refund, to which he replied in a snarky way that since he had given 12 months for the groupon, he didn’t think they would give me a refund. Well joke’s on him; I got the full amount (over $ 100) refunded and Groupon agreed that since I was calling to schedule an appointment before the expiration date, that he should have still honored it, despite him being booked for a while. I will certainly never use him, and I will be warning friends and family against using him.

As a massage therapist myself, and a very active person who happens to have whiplash pain, I was intrigued by a review I read here of Power of Touch (which seems to have been filtered now). The review was 5 star and mentioned the therapist’s fascial work. (Fascia is connective tissue, and good fascial work can be very effective in releasing long-​held tension.) I do deep, specific work and really like to receive deep, specific work to keep me mobile and with minimal whiplash pain. While I normally trade massage with folks I know, scheduling is not always the easiest and sometimes it’s good to get work from someone new, so I scheduled myself an appointment.
About an hour before my appointment time, the therapist called to confirm. He arrived on time and was very professional. He used a lot of stretching, fascial work, and deep tissue techniques throughout the treatment. His draping techniques were great, allowing him to stretch my hips and legs in various ways without compromising my modesty. There are lots of good things about Raymond’s work, but it needs to be more balanced. Yes, deep work can be very effective. Yes, he has a lot of tools in his toolbox and he is a skilled massage therapist. But today, the day after my massage, I am extremely sore, and not in a way that feels healing. I feel quite bruised in several places and have a lot of inflammation, even after icing.
Here are bullet points, because those are easy to read, with the things I liked and the things I didn’t:
— The communication from the therapist was professional and clear at all times.
— As mentioned above, the draping was great, allowing Raymond to do stretches that other therapists don’t often do.
— Raymond is strong and capable, so if you want super deep pressure, he will give you that.
— He does ask about pressure, but there were several times when I expressed that pressure was too much or that things hurt and he did not adjust appropriately.
— The work was not balanced, it was ALL deep, intense work. I felt worked on, but not relaxed at all.
Edited to add: Four days later, I still had some pain in my hip from the work. The soreness I originally needed addressed was, at best, not reduced by the massage at all. I don’t plan to call again.

Raymond is a saint! You may not think that as he is breaking up your fascia, but in the days following you’ll want to send this guy a fruit basket. His pricing for an hour-​long massage is highly competitive, he comes to your home, and like the name says, he understands the power of touch. After one session, I felt improved mobility in places I didn’t even know needed improving. However, what delighted me most was the work he did on my ankle, which I had sprained months earlier. I’m a massage-​getting regular, but nobody has managed to attack that scar tissue quite like he has. Power of Touch is my massage therapy service of choice, and I look forward to my next session!
