Pionic Pizza and Pasta

Cool concept and like how they offer both wheat and white crust as options. You can customize the pizza however you like and price is reasonable. My pizza was not bad but the pasta we ordered was awful. The chicken they carry is not fresh at all and you can tell had come out of the freezer. The pasta sauce was pasty like out of a bag and the pasta did not get fully cooked either coming out of their pizza oven. My wife was mad I brought her here and will not return… oh well

Found this place while searching for good pizza here on Unilocal.All I can say is the reviews speak for themselves. The pizza, pasta, and salads are all great. You get to create your own special pizza right in front of you, including your choice of crust, sauce, toppings, and cheese.

This place is pretty awesome! You get to make the pizza as you go, just like that subway with pizza. Also very family friendly. Quick and professional service and the ingredients are super fresh. Will be back for sure! Let’s keep these type of places going.

Totally reviewers pieology on accident instead of pionic. Every employee went above and beyond and was really delightful. Pizza was amazing and I’m sorry but was better than pieology. I’ll be back again soon, yum!!!

Unlimited toppings are amazing and overwhelmingly wonderful! Not only where there many topping to choose from, but a variety of sauces and cheeses. The pesto sauce was fabulous and they do not skimp on toppings. All this yumminess for only $ 7.99 a pizza pie. My hubby finished his, but mine was also lunch the next day. It came to the table very quickly and their assembly line was fast also. We enjoyed the fired crust, but it was not our favorite crust, as it was all premodern, not hand stretched.
We will defiantly go back and have already recommended it to friends.

This place was disappointing, the calzone was so cold on the inside that the cheese didn’t melt and the mushrooms were raw. The pizza was mediocre but then again it’s not hand tossed, you can’t expect a good crust from a machine pressed dough. The toppings were good but the lack of crust on the edges was very very sad.

I was really impressed with this place. For a long time I was really unwilling to get on board with the whole «build your own pizza» movement, but after a gift card to Pizza Studio from my work, I decided to give the idea a try. I have thoroughly enjoyed it for several months. That is, until a friend informed me that she had tried both Pizza Studio and Pionic, and she distinctly preferred the latter. Now it was on my list.
Not long thereafter, we made the voyage. I was immediately impressed with a number of things. First and foremost: a real fire pizza oven where the pizzas are cooked directly on the surface (ie no pan). This was my primary complaint with Pizza studio because their system of perforated pans does not get the crust crispy enough to hold the toppings. Second the toppings options are more extensive here. Not necessarily better (there are advantages and disadvantages to both), but there are more. And lastly, we came during happy hour which meant that my wife and I each got a pie and it was only $ 12. That’s roughly what I would pay for one at Pizza Studio.
Did I mention that it was delicious? It was. Apart from an employee not knowing what a random mystery meat which turned out to be prosciutto was (it is in your bin of items, I sorta expect you to know what it is), the service was fast and friendly. I definitely will be back in the near future.

So, apparently this «build your own pizza» thing is becoming a trend. A trend I am liking, and I’m wondering how nobody thought of this before. I have been to a different build your own pizza place before, but my friend said that this was far superior, so on a day that we both had a night off, we ventured out to eat here.
It’s really comfortable in here, and the staff was friendly, even if they were a little confused about the toppings. A few of the things I liked about this place, more than the previous place, was that the artichoke hearts are really small and shredded instead of big chunks, so I got artichoke on more of my pizza. They had WAY more sauce and topping options, like alfredo sauce. You could get an egg on your pizza, which I did, and it was delicious!
Also, they put their pizza in an actual wood burning oven instead of the screen thing, so the pizza got cooked all the way through. Of course, if you pile on the toppings, like my husband did, the pizza still flopped over a little, but mine was cooked a little crispy, which I like a lot!
We went during happy hour, so for two pizzas made with a lot of toppings and to our exact requests, it was $ 12. That’s a pretty good price! We didn’t get drinks or anything, but each pizza fed us a couple of times. I’ll be back for sure!

The idea that I can choose any and all ingredients to make a pizza my own sounded great, and the price, how could I go wrong. I chose the white dough, a mixture of regular and spicy sauce, then I added mozzarella and blue cheese. Black olives, jalapenos, tomatoes, pepperoni and buffalo chicken on mine. I really like thin crust and I’m glad I remembered to take a picture. I asked for some fresh basil to be added after it was cooked (they forgot that part and I had to ask for the basil.)
The finished pie was brought to our table in just a few minutes. After I added the basil I tried the pizza. Awesome! But, for me it was missing something. As I ate I thought about what was missing and realized that almost 100% of the time I order pizza with either Italian sausage, or a spicy ground beef, the sausage being my favorite choice. Not enough meat choices for me and if they can offer a spicy chopped chicken, then either sausage or ground beef would be easy enough to add… the reason I’m only giving 4 stars. Bumped up to 5 stars after finding the sausage! If some more interesting meat choices were offered I’d give 5 stars any day of the week. Even so the pizza is very good, and you make it your own so if it tastes bad, it’s pretty much on you.
We will be back, and I can’t wait to eat here again.

I’ll lead with a positive assumption. The pizza looks really good. I didn’t have it.
I was in Tucson for business and craving pasta. Pionic was very close to where I was staying and with all the positive reviews… why not?
I was firstly disappointed that they only offer one type of pasta — it’s penne or bust. I was secondly disappointed to watch the guy dump my pasta out of a bag. He built my dish (in which I could choose my sauce and any number of toppings) in a skillet and then put it in the giant pizza oven. It actually beat me to the cash register so, as I’m trying to pay, there is an employee walking around the restaurant with my dish, calling my name.
I asked for water and was given a small plastic cup but found the water out of the spigot to have a terrible after taste and so I went back to the register to buy a bottle of water. I was the only customer at the front needing any form of assistance. The cash register attendant was busing tables and at least a half a dozen employees proceeded to walk by me in both directions and stood behind the counter waiting to oversee their specific area of responsibility without so much of a, «Can I help you?» or ««She’ll be right back to ring you up.» When I finally raised the water bottle and asked if anyone was able to ring me up or if it had to be the person on register for the evening, I can’t tell if I was relieved or disappointed when a woman standing nearby (who had passed me three times) said, «Oh sure, I can help you.» The one positive was how polite she was in the exchange… once I asked for help. Not my idea of service.
The pasta was too al dente and the sauce was just ok. The yummy looking roll they placed on the tray turned out to be super cold. How about sticking that in the oven for a moment while you’re at it?
If I had kids and was looking for an inexpensive pizza place, I would try it again but the pasta and (while pleasant but inefficient) service just doesn’t cut it.

This place is super good! The atmosphere is nice, the music is good, the food is AHH MAZING! Of course it should be, your the executive chef! It’s all your own creation, you just tell them how you want it! I opted for the basic crust, Alfredo sauce, black and green olives, chicken, chorizo, roasted red peppers, sundried tomatoes, jalapeños, all dosed with a couple stripes of buffalo sauce! My mouth is watering just writing the review and I’m still sitting in the diner! Did I mention this place is locally owned!!!

This place is great. When u first have it I was not too impressed but it grows on you and it’s my go to place now :). I can enjoy the entire pie and then some myself. I enjoy the crust and the ability to choose your own ingrediants.
For vegan lovers they do offer daiya cheese which closely resembles mozzarella in my opinion. Great place

Gluten-​free people: THIS IS YOUR PLACE FOR PIZZA. (It costs $ 3 more, which is 100% worth it for the extra work they do.)
If you have a gluten allergy they take an extraordinary amount of care to make sure your pizza is gluten-​free. They change their gloves, use different utensils, and MOP OUT THE OVEN.
YES, you read that correctly. They fire all the flour-​filled crusts first and then mop out the oven so there is no flour left. It takes an extra minute or two but that is nothing compared to the care they take to create for you.
Oh, and their pizza is delicious. The «create your own» style is so awesome because I can just throw anything I want on it and not worry about extra charges. One pizza will serve two people, even if it looks small and deceiving.
You can also order ahead if you know what you want and it will take even less time, but I am in and out of here with my pizza in under 10 minutes.
I am glad this is in my ‘hood because I will definitely be stopping here frequently.

Wow, ouch … Scott the owner said to come in and he would make a pizza with a more solid crust. And I would know how to order in the future.
I went in just a little before 8 pm.
I told one of the kitchen staff that I was there to see Scott. I saw him tell Scott.
I waited for almost 15 min … Scott was making pizzas, then he cleaned his area, turned around to talk with staff, went over the kitchen to talk with diff staff …
So I walked out … extremely poor.

Came here for Friday happy hour and the place was happening for 4:45p. The reason is likely because you can get an unlimited-​toppings personal-​sized pizza for $ 5 and a pint of beer (local craft brews!) for $ 3.
It’s an assembly line setup where you tell multiple people the type of crust you want, the type of sauce, veggies, and meats. I wanted ovoline mozzarella and the woman suggested I add some mozzarella so it melts nicely, and that was a nice touch of service. Then it comes out to you in (as advertised) as little as 90 seconds.
The pizza itself is what I would consider a step above decent-​quality frozen pizza. Not terrible, but not Brooklyn or Bianco standard. The high temp oven makes the thin crust very crispy, and the bottom even has a little charring, much like classic brick-​oven style. One pie is enough for a single serving if you’re hungry enough. If you took the rest home, you’ve made two meals for $ 2.50 each, which is a steal for pizza.
The only cons would be the early happy hour going from 2−5p, and the outdoor seating facing a busy stretch of Campbell making it a noisy experience. Otherwise, a good concept if you’re in the mood for a fast pizza fix. I’ll be back for round two.

The restaurant is very casual with an opening garage door to the outside patio.
I really enjoyed their pizza and all the choices you have to make it special.

This place is simply amazing! The pizza is fabulous and so are the salads. I love that you can put what ever you want on the pizza and it is one flat fee. Load your pizza, salad, or pasta up with anything you want and as much as you want!
Pros: the ambiance is amazing, the staff is super friendly, I love the outside seating option, I get the wheat crusted pizza and you cant even tell it is different then from the all purpose flour crust, the bathrooms are even amazing!
Cons: Jeez nothing I can think of at this time :)

How did I live all these years without Pionic?! My coworker told me about this glorious pizza place after she went and thought it was something I might like. Oh, was she so right. I came here with several coworkers a couple Fridays ago for lunch and my pizza loving heart left ever so satisfied.
For just $ 7, you can create the pizza of your dreams. But really, can you even put a price on that?! Start with your crust-​regular or whole wheat, then pick your sauce, then get cheesy, and for the really fun part – veggies and meat! You can even get toppings put on after it’s baked, like basil and arugula.
If you’re not a fan of pizza (how?!) there are salad and pasta options.
My only regret is not thinking of the idea for Pionic myself!

I’ll give it a meh — the other reviewers noting this is like a Chipotle for pizza are 100 percent correct.
The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the new place very clean and well set up. I just wasn’t really blown away by the food. That’s not to say it wasn’t good, but maybe there’s something to be said about recommended combinations. When left to my own devices, I’m pretty boring.
I will say the price is right and it’s pretty darn fast — so I won’t put this place up against Bianco or Falora, but it’s good for what it is.

This is going to be a great success.
We had our free 12″ «personal» pizza and soft drinks today for their Grand Opening. «Personal» in quotes because that is one big personal pizza.
The pizzas are baked quick somehow in their special 800 degree oven. We got our pizzas within 5 minutes after ordering in spite of it being swamped. The pizzas are thin crispy crust style. For $ 7.45 you get unlimited toppings for pizza, pasta, or salad.
I had a piled high pizza. My unlimited pizza was regular crust, red sauce, mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, artichokes, red peppers, olives, cherry tomatoes, extra mushrooms, red onion, and bell peppers. I ate it all. My crust remained crispy through the whole pie and didn’t get soggy.
It was really a tasty pizza and hit the spot. I highly recommend you go online and check their menu out. Then go and have a great pizza.
