At Pep Boys so my bf can get something for his car. Store is supposed to be open til 8pm! Luckily he was already in because 3 mins til 8 I see an employee locking the doors already!!! What’s up with that??? If you are supposed to be open til a certain time, don’t you think you should actually STAY OPEN!!! That’s BS!

Monday evening I noticed the «Service Engine Soon» light had lit up on my Nissan’s dashboard, right away I called the closest Pep Boys and spoke with Andrew who was able to fit me in immediately. When I got there he had the paperwork ready to go, and he & Glenda discussed my options in detail so we could set about the best course of action for determining the matter with the least amount of trouble. I was lucky their Star Mechanic was on duty, who only works part-​time, because he found a difficult to detect huge crack in the snorkel air duct. It took him awhile to locate the problem, and it wasn’t easy. Manager Walter explained the issue with relative ease giving me options for repair that were doable, plus he had the courtesy to follow up in a phone call the next day. I am grateful! So as soon as the part comes in, I’ll be back. Am looking forward to receiving more great service from this expert staff. Thanks for the over the top excellent and professional customer care, Pep Boys on East 22^nd. Street!

Much different than last night, and they are open until 8pm. The people were very helpful and the store was clean.

What incredible service at 7:30PM Saturday, ¹¹⁄₁₄. I was a «lady in distress.» The staff made the necessary repairs to a failing undercarriage part at no charge so I could make the return trip to San Diego the following morning.
Many thanks! Excellent customer service goes a long way and my grand daughter, a student at the U of A was impressed as well and has found a new home for her car service.

I just recently took my car in to have several repairs done. Not getting into details but my car was not only taken care of very well but the staff there is amazing, particularly Alfred, he went way out of his way to help me and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Thank you so much for the great service!

I stopped in with a situation and the employees went above and beyond to help me. I left there satisfied and a little wiser (buttons). Walt and Glenda (good witch) had the best customer service I have ever seen .I will let everyone I know about this place and their great employees.

I’ve been using PepBoys for many years. Some stores great some not so much. This location has been the greatest for customer service and repair work. Dawn was extremely helpful in getting my rewards balance worked out to a perfect solution. Thanks Dawn.

This particular Pep Boys location is the only one I find myself wanting to go back to over and over again. The service not only continues to be friendly, but also fast! Brian Cowherd and the others are professional and know their stuff. Upon paying for any services, Mr. Cowherd always asks me if there was anything they could do to improve their service and always welcomes feedback. (That’s rare unless the person asking is the «owner» of a mom/​pop establishment) Pep Boys also offers good deals and love the mailers we receive with special discounts.
Dawn is another person whom is not only knowledgeable, but knows where everything is in the store and helps me find what I need in a pinch. As a woman, it can be somewhat intimidating to walk into a retail establishment that sells car parts and tools and try to find something I need and not know where to begin to look. Dawn was there for me and her service was great! I love this Pep Boys on 22^nd St. and plan to continue using it as my main resource for my car…

Avoid at all costs!
While on an outing near Patagonia, AZ, my self and two others blew a tire and swapped it out for a donut (T-​Type) spare tire. It was Sunday afternoon and the closest services were in Tucson. Tire shops were starting to close and I knew I would only have time to drive to just a single shop. We called around and settled on this Pep Boys. Big mistake!
We rolled up about 30 minutes before their (and every other tire shop’s) closing time. Now I had a good experience with a Pep Boys on the other side Tucson just one month earlier when I was in the exact same situation. I showed the clerk the paperwork from a month earlier and she was able to match the tire the previous Pep Boys installed.
The service technician took out my old tire and rolled into the bay. That’s when Tim, claiming to be the store manager, stepped in and compromised both the mechanics of my car as well as my life and the lives of my two passengers. He halted service on the tire siting «standard operation procedure» that all wheel drive cars must have all four tires replaced and matched.
I have gone through four separate tires four separate times with this car and it has never been an issue, INCLUDING AT PEP BOYS. We explained to Tim that we just needed to get home to Phoenix. We offered to sign a waiver. I asked if they could just put the new tire on the rim, and I would install the tire on the car. Tim refused all of these.
By this time it was five minutes to closing time, Tim sent us away knowing we would be driving another 120 miles back to Phoenix on the temporary spare tire. By doing this Tim and this Pep Boys jeopardized not only the mechanics of my car, but the safety of all those inside.

My last 3 visits– first one, had an air filter installed and they didn’t put it in right. There was a 1″ gap on the bottom. Granted, it’s not easy to put it on but that’s what you pay them for. It’s a $ 30 filter and $ 10 install. Do it right and don’t just pretend.
Next trip, tire repair (covered by their road hazard warranty) — took them well over an hour when there was no one else there. They are not fast. But they fixed it no charge. If your time is worthless.
3^rd trip, I had a gouge in a tire (sidewall, cannot be repaired). The tire wasn’t there because the manufacturer is giving a $ 40 discount (on a $ 100 tire). They order one and say they’ll have it the next day. Go in next day and they wasted over an hour of my time while they tried to find it. I eventually got to leave the keys and about 3 hours later they called to say they had it fixed (they said they’d call me as soon as they found the tire, they didn’t). The road hazard warranty on a 4 month old tire with less than 3000 miles on it got me a new tire for $ 13. And $ 40 to install. And a $ 3 disposal fee. So thanks to my warranty, I got a $ 60 tire for only $ 55 with tax. And an hour and a half of my time. And it took them 3 hours after I left to get it squared away.
No matter how many deals they offer it’s going to cost the same as elsewhere, and you’ll spend more time waiting.
Again, they do what they say they’ll do, but you’d best have a lot of free time.
Update to add after posting this review they called me and spent 15 minutes on the phone asking what they could do. They offered to refund the $ 10 I paid for the filter install since it was done incorrectly. It’s been 4 months, I’ve never gotten it. So even after the sale, they’ll call you and waste your time.

Find a long time car expert other wise it’s good to know what you’re looking for because sometimes you don’t get the right answers if it’s not in the computer database.

My car would squeak when I would drive it so I came to pep boys!
I waited for an hour before they took me into the garage and started saying there was nothing wrong with my car. I was there I knew my back tires needed to be changed out so I agreed to new tires and an oil change.
Not even ten minutes later one of the managers came to me and said that the problem was indeed my brakes. They have me prices. And the ONLY reason they are getting two stars is because of this manager, I believe his name is Tim. He realized that his worker was incompetent and gave me every break I could on my bill. And Oscar helped too for my bill.
Unfortunately it was also their lunch time. He said if I needed it done right away they could take turns, him and the incompetent mechanic, or if I would be so kind they would go to lunch together. I was not about to let this mechanic work on my car by himself. So here I am still waiting at pep boys. Been here for over three hours. This is ridiculous.
Grateful for the deal and very unhappy with the wait time and staff knowledge. The only good thing about this place is Oscar and their manager.

I’m sad to see so many negative reviews for Pep Boy’s. I’ve always been a customer with them since my grandpa started going there when I was a wee child. I brought my car in because I thought the serpentine belt was going out on my 2010 Ford Mustang. After they reviewed the noises under the hood it appeared to be a crack in my radiator housing and was leaking on the belt causing the squeaking. The service advisor had contacted Ford for the piece however they were all out and advised that they would call another company that was more expensive but didn’t charge me the higher part price. That was sure nice! After that was replaced, an oil change and tire rotation the price came out 300 dollars cheaper than Ford was going to charge me for repairs. I always get annoyed going into car stores or shops because 95% of the men working in the store dumb females down because they instantly assume you don’t know anything about cars. Luckily pep boys didn’t treat me that was and there was no judgment or strange looks when I stated what I thought might have been wrong.
If you go to their website check out the coupons because they tend to have really good ones. I printed out 10% off my service which saved me more as well.

Awesome service here and they sell bike parts also. Witch is nice cause the super stores are way pricey and its the same part. Some times its the little things like this that make my day. When said and done I will return again for the next project

I can resuscitate computers, repair ripped pants, and even re-​wire washing machines, but when it comes to cars, I’m pretty clueless. That’s why I really appreciate places that help me find the right doodads to fix my little white hatchback, and maybe even give advice on how to do the job.
Alas, PepBoys is not one of those places. Not even close.
I stopped in on my lunch break because I needed a couple of very minor things: WD-​40 to fix a sticky seatbelt clip, and some sort of putty to repair the clips that keep my trunk molding in place. I wandered around for about 15 minutes looking for the two things (and it’s NOT a big store), and got zero help. There were no other customers around, there were at least five employees milling around, and I was looking quite befuddled. I even tried to flag down at least two employees with a polite, «Excuse me???» but they just kept on going. I found something to try to solve my molding issue, but I have no idea if it’ll work.
It’s a good thing I didn’t need help with anything more complicated, like plugging in a lightbulb, because it’s pretty clear that they don’t do that. There are signs outside the store that clearly state that customers are PROHIBITED from working on their cars or performing any repairs in the parking lot. HUH? Guess I’m SOL if my car is in trouble, I buy a winshield wiper, and I want to put it on before I forget how.
Next time, I’ll head to Autozone instead. It’s much easier to get help finding things, and they’ll actually give advice if you’re as clueless as I am.

I have been to this location twice. I had to buy four new tires this year and, after calling around to a few locations, decided on this place, largely because one of the sales representatives was more knowledgeable and cordial than all the others.
Let’s be honest. When we are dealing with buying food, drinks, cars, homes and other items of this sort, people tend to expect a certain level of attention and treatment. So, yes — I was very drawn to the fact that this particular location had a rep who was very gentle in his interactions, probably quite aware that I was not nearly as knowledgeable about tires as he was.
The store is Pep Boys-​general. It looks like most every other Pep Boys location you have ever seen.
I’ve already mentioned tires, but they’ve also got your air compressors, seat cushions, car audio equipment, cables, filters, jumper cables, belts, lights, batteries, gloves, gas cans, jacks and other kinds of lifting tools, storage boxes, heavy duty and curious flashlights, iPod chargers for the car and even those scented things you hang in your car/​truck/​SUV/​wagon/​school bus/​U-​Haul.
Anyone still use those little scented things? Anyone? Anyone?
Why not full stars? OK – this place can be crazy busy! Much of the time I was there the staff seemed overwhelmed with the calls and customers coming in.
The day I had my tires changed and rotated it took more than four hours from the moment I arrived to the moment they handed me my keys — including the roll-​out inspection. Yeah, like forever folks. But this may be standard.
Good news: I walked down the street to the nearby Starbucks and, with my laptop, got some work in for the entire time they were working. So that worked out well. Also, check out that nearby Frys. They have a nice produce section and a cute little deli.

First Surprised on the negatives until I read them. Basically a few people crying because they didn’t roll out the red carpet and kiss there butts. Its a auto parts and service center not a 5 star restaurant.
I have been here a couple times to buy things. The staff is very knowledgeable, knows the products they have. Being a DIY/​shadetree mechanic I do most of my own work. I ha d stripped drain plug that I tried every known trick and googled a few more with no luck. I spent at least 2 hours on my own. So it was expected that I was going to have to replace the oil pan. Thats about $ 300 job. I also needed my spark plugs changed which requires the intake manifold to be removed which requires a gasket which no parts stores had.
Well first off they got the gasket from a dealer at a reasonable price. Did the spark plug job for less than I was quoted at other places. Then they called and told me a experience mechanic was able to extract the plug which translated into a $ 300 job only costing about $ 100. All work is guaranteed for 90 days with option of extended warranty.
They didn’t try to up-​sell, they were courteous and professional. They do service on Saturdays and Sundays. Even saved me money when they had an opportunity to get more from me. So thus when I have a job I cannot do or lack the time I will be back. Hard to find a skilled and honest service center. You get that and more here.

Wow. Where to begin. Big huge cones and signs outside advertise «Drive up for service!» More like «drive up to watch two employees on their smoke break ignore you for a few moments before telling you to park you car and walk inside to the desk?» So I did. Who do I meet at the desk? The guy from outside! He proceeds to have me sign a paper stating my oil change will cost $ 36. What?! Oh, and GOD FORBID I read the fine print before I sign… he kept gesturing to the line with the x as if I am some sort of moron who didn’t underatand what he said. Then, here’s where it got really good. He asked me to «follow him outside»…that’s right, walk BACK to my car in the sun/​hot. On this journey, I should dictate my name and address to him while we take slow steps? Thia is stupid. Then he sent me back inside after I answered 4 questions I could have answered from the inside lobby. Then, I stared at my car sitting by itself for almost 20 minutes. I managed to write this whole review while the hulkish/​bossy car man came back inside and sat down talking about how its time for him to take his lunch. OH, AND TO TOP IT OFF. This place is filthy inside and looks very rundown, from the stained and dirty floors to the dusty, splattered walls. Now its been 30 minutes and still no work done on my car. Ohhh wait, a guy just put his Diet Pepsi inside my hood. WHAT?! GET ME OUT OF HERE!

I don’t like to write bad reviews. I can’t seem to look past one encounter with a lady at the cashier after I attempted to return lights with a receipt.
However, previous visits here, the staff (mostly men) were very helpful.

Slow slow slow! The pep boys lost their pep in their step. Took the mechanic 3 hours to get our tires put on. Still need to have the battery replaced. Overpriced and underdelivered.
