Pantano Riding Stables

I met my daughter here to help her feed a friend’s horses. Wow. They called the police te: my car at the entrance. The friend forgot to tell us to sign in our there would be hell to pay. Rude.

Went on the one hour trail ride with my two granddaughters, ages 8 and 10. The trail guide, Dylan was wonderful! He was patient with us and stopped so we could get a photos as well. Before the ride we were given a short tutorial as to how to command the horse with certain moves and how to be safe on the horse. Overall it was a grand experience and I would do it again. Take your youngsters on this ride with no concerns, they are great.

Our guide Tom was very responsive to our needs. He was knowledgable and patient with both me and my daughter. She was thrilled to ride where I was nervous. We had a fantastic ride in great weather and saw wildlife.

Our Girl Scout troop scheduled a 1 hour trail ride to earn our horseback riding badge. The girls were a little nervous, most of them having never been on a horse before.
We were assigned 1 guide and 2 wranglers (forgive me but I’ve forgotten their names). All three were amazing!
Our guide had experience in working with Girl Scouts and was even familiar with badge requirements! He took the time to go over things and everyone was carefully matched with the appropriate mount. One of our girls was extra nervous, and one of the wranglers took extra time to make her comfortable and rode next to her the entire ride.
The experience was wonderful and safety was of a top priority here. Everyone enjoyed a peaceful ride, and the only comments I received (from adults and girls alike) were requests to go again.

We had a great time. We had a party of 10 there was some confusion as to how many, but it was handled professionally. We took the wagon ride and dinner afterwards under a full moon. Everyone was fed even though the reservation was made for 7 and we actually had 10. We will definitely go back.

Have gone on private park trail rides and private lesson rides and enjoyed both. The folks are very nice and patient. Looking forward to riding at their new location soon.

We called for a reservation and everything seemed fine. However we showed up and an operator showed up, but thought one on our party was the guide. She was wearing chaos cause she worked on a ranch before. The operator left and when we called, the owner realised what had happened and would send him back for our ride. At this point we did not feel comfortable and cancelled our ride. In the end the operation seemed poorly managed compared with other outfits we have used in the past.

I trailer my horse regularly to the Sahuaro Monument in Tucson. My friend and I were arriving back at our trailer when a wrangler and about 6 people were taking off on a ride. He was a guide from Pantano Stables. The last young girl in the group, who weighed all of 80 lbs., was on a mare that could barely walk. I told the wrangler that the mare was lame and shouldn’t be ridden. He brought the mare and rider back, tied the horse to the trailer, called his boss, and told the girl to wait and someone would pick her up. My friend and I waited with her as she was apprehensive about waiting alone. Someone from the stables showed up, after about 20 minutes, and I told her that the horse was lame. Her response was that the horse had foot problems and they were dealing with it. That horse had no business being sent out on a trail ride. After the woman left, I looked at the mare’s feet. She was barefoot. The mare’s feet were in terrible shape. Additionally, she had an eye infection with a yellow discharge coming from her left eye. Flies were all over it. The woman took the young girl back to the stables but left the mare tied to the trailer. The riders were on a 1 ½ hour ride so she was tied up that long or longer.

Alex and his lovely horse Platinum led the trail ride while my horse for the day, Trampis, closely followed. The trail was gorgeous and Alex pointed out native vegetation like the «jumping cactus» and boroughs where one might find a ground owl.
Alex did an incredible job explaining how to lead my horse and was kind enough to stop mid trail to adjust my saddle. Safety first!
The horses are extremely well mannered and the stables are filled with adorable critters like a miniature bull.
I will defiantly be returning on my next trip to Tucson!

We are here from Phoenix and wanted to take the grandkids horseback riding. I chose Pantano. The youngest child was a little apprehensive about riding alone but we were told they don’t like to ride double. Our guide, Alicia, was great, confident, interacting all thru the ride and assured our 6 year old would be completely safe, as she was. She loved it! So did our 12 year old grandau and her friend. Hubby liked the military discount they give. I went along just to be with them but it wasn’t too bad. Dusty but eh, so what — its Tucson! This was the highlight of the whole trip. Girls love horses! They are already talking about coming back.

Took a horseback ride here; the process is very fun and enjoyable. The people there are pretty friendly and they do a good job showing beginners how to ride a horse. While out on the ride, the wranglers were very helpful and entertaining. They engaged with everyone well and made it fun and even educational.
My girlfriend suggested docking a star because the latter half of the trail is quite dusty. I overruled her. It would have been OK, and really wasn’t a big deal, but we did smell a bit of dust coming back. Didn’t bother me but YMMV.
Overall, a nice experience.

This review is for the Halloween Haunted Hayride held here in the fall. My family and I went out this past Saturday after dark prepared to be spooked and thrilled at this ride. Although the website said that the price was $ 5.50 per person, it was actually $ 6 per person. I didn’t think this was a big deal, but I’m sharing this for those people that pay with exact change (some people there had been told it was $ 5 per person, so that’s all the cash they had). The website also recommends that you make a reservation, but that didn’t make a difference when we were there. The people that are in line without making a reservation go to the same line to wait as those that had already reserved. I’m guessing that if it gets too crowded, the people with reservation take priority.
So, we paid and waited for the next wagon to arrive (about 15 minutes). Prepare for about a 20 minute ride. They try to fill up the wagon with as many people that can fit, so also be prepared to sit pretty close to your neighbor. There was a teen boy on our wagon that was talking to his mom across the wagon saying how scared he was and it got to be a bit annoying. I guess that’s just part of the deal, right. I’m going to describe the ride, so if you don’t want it spoiled, skip the next paragraph…
So, we’re riding along and it’s DARK. Very dark. The wagon driver tells us to watch out for drunk drivers veering off Houghton when right them a truck’s brights go on and it honks at us. Right about this time I was thinking that if there really was some sort of creeper, this would be a great place for him to come stalk and scare. Throughout the ride, various ghouls and monsters would pop out from the desert. A zombie jumped up on the wagon with us, a witch was trying to yank out the children, a guy with a chainsaw was chasing us, but the topper was the headless horseman galloping alongside our wagon.
My daughter and I were having fun screaming and laughing while at the same time trying to get the «monsters» not to touch us. My son, on the other hand, was super scared. After about half the ride, he got between me and my husband, held our hands, sat at the floor of the wagon (off the hay) and decided he’d spend the rest of the ride there with his eyes closed. Of course I took a picture. I’d say that this hayride is geared towards families without very young children or groups of friends in the mood for a fright. It’s not super scary, but it’s fun when the people on the wagon get into the creepy spirit. I don’t know if it’s worth $ 24, but I’m glad we went and I at least now know how it is. For an additional entrance fee, they also host a haunted maze which my son didn’t even consider entering for a second. I don’t like the monsters touching me, so I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed that too much.

Was out last week for the sunset ride with my husband it was great! Family owned business everyone was very nice. I was impressed with the condition of the horses as well as the care they took to keep riders safe.
You even get to ride to the top of Magraw’s Cantina and back down.
