Malcolm’s Honey Co. specializes in honeys from the Sonoran Desert region of Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. We primarily deal in the lighter, delicately flavoured honeys that are produced in the springtime. These high grade honeys are from floral sources such as mesquite, catclaw acacia, ironwood and saguaro. In the summer we often have agricultural honeys such as alfalfa and cotton. We can also supply lower grade honeys for baking such as tamarisk or salt cedar.

History

Established in 1982.

1979 was a very good year for beekeepers in Tucson. I produced a couple of drums of honey from the few hives I had which I couldn’t sell as everyone had done just as well. So I purchased a pickup load of jars in Phoenix, packaged the honey, and went around town peddling it. That all went very well and soon I was getting calls back for more and began buying honey to meet these requests. Eventually, larger stores began calling and the business was born.
