I came in last Fall after hearing a fluttering noise near the front left tire in my car. The mechanic quickly figured out the problem within 15 minutes of my arrival and they decided to charge me only a fraction of the diagnostic price since it was a very minor issue. I was supposed to pay around $ 90 for a full diagnostic test and was able to walk away with the problem solved for only $ 30. My appointment was also on schedule and the employees were very friendly.

Fast, efficient and CLEAN! I brought my car here for an oil change and it was the smoothest experience ever. Todd was a great help and very friendly on the phone and when I arrived I was greeted with a smile. They even had a shuttle to take me home AND pick me up while my car got worked on. Everything was very low-​pressure and I felt like I truly got that old-​fashioned customer service and care that’s so hard to come by nowadays. Highly recommended and I will be here in the future!

Our car broke down right in front of Jimmy’s. I am from Boston and knowing nothing of the repair shop we pulled in with the car smoking…
The service was excellent. They diagnosed the problem, had the parts and fixed our vehicle in 2 and ½ hours.
During our wait my mother was amazed by the clean bathroom and the complimentary shuttle service.
The price was reasonable and when we were ready to go we were given flowers. Staff is polite and helpful — explaining all repairs to my elderly Mom.

Brought my car here to have the crankshaft position and cam sensors replaced. The staff was friendly and they did good work. My car runs fine now and they didn’t try to push anything extra on me or have any hidden costs. However, I feel that their labor is too expensive ($ 98/​hr), and they insisted on running a $ 100 «diagnostic» on the car, even though I told them up front that the car was spitting out error codes for those two sensors, and their overheating was consistent with the problem I was having. The diagnostic is basically paying for an hour of labor, though, which is fair because they do a full inspection of everything on your car with detailed write ups of other problems they found that you may not have known about (which were all valid in my case, not made up to squeeze money out of you).
This place came recommended by a friend, and my car was not driveable, so I let it slide, hoping they’d at least be thorough and then if there WAS something else causing the problem, they’d find it. After the $ 100 diagnostic, they told me exactly what I already knew and had told them right off the bat: «Yep, your sensors are the problem.» A good repair shop will either A) Do a FREE diagnostic or B) Take the cost of the diagnostic as a discount off the price of repairs, thus providing incentive for you to get the work done at their shop.
The parts themselves were about ten dollars more each than they would’ve been to buy them from the dealer myself, but Jimmy’s defended the slightly higher cost by saying they had a better warranty. Okay, twenty bucks, not really a big deal. They charged about an hour of labor to install the sensors. Maybe that’s a little inflated, but I had done research before hand and everything I read about the problem said that the location of those particular sensors in my car made them a HUGE pain to get to and that it was a relatively difficult job even for the automotively inclined. So I figured it was worth the $ 100 to have someone else do it. Still think I could’ve gotten a better deal elsewhere, and if it weren’t such a small, non-​labor intensive quick-​switching of two parts, I shudder to think what the final cost would’ve been.
Originally, I gave the place a lower rating purely based on price, but their inspection was thorough, they did what I wanted, and after experimenting with other shops, I’ve yet to find one that’s much better price-​wise in this town. So I went from two stars to four. If the labor were more like $ 60-​$ 75 per hour instead of $ 100 and if they deducted the diagnostic fee from the repair costs, this would be a five star joint.

I have an appointment’ at 10:00 a.m. For some reason (I don’t know what happen, they don’t really explain to me) It took them 4 hours to diagnostic my car.
Of course they provide free ride to my dorm.

I bought my car for 6K, Jummy offer me $ 1100 to «maintain» my car.
Did you think I am stupid enough to spend $ 1100 to «maintain» my car?
Then I went to FireStone, They fix + diagnostic my car within 3 hours
Guess how much it cost…$ 385…They only replace two cylinders, and they told me everything are fine.
I show them the Recommend replacement I got form Jimmy… Guess what they say
They say all I have to do is to replace two cylinders, I don’t have to replace anything other then the cylinders.
Really?

First i want to say that the staff was very pleasent and nice. However i would be too if i was going to not listen.
Also, from EVERY auto shop I’ve gone to with the exception of Jimmy’s they have charged a diagnonstic fee which is removed upon getting work done at their shop. When I got my total despite my getting work done the diagnostic fee was still there. To me that is really poor work ethic because the diagnostic fee is like a deposit for a tattoo if you get the work done the price is knocked off the what’s done. That was a real blow to my pocket book since they were needlessly draining my savings for their greed.
i got the work done there I took it in for three reasons:
shaking (a broken engine mount)
an auto zone 26 (a selinoid that needed replacing) (*read update)
and a draining battery which i stated three times was not the battery.
The first two issues that they fixed are awesome. no complaints (*read update). I’m confident in the work warranty. I think they did good work. But when they called to tell me what was wrong they stated I had a bad battery. I had a warrenty on the battery so i opted for them not to replace my battery. Mostly because IT IS NOT THE BATTERY that is the issue. They were satisfied with the diagnosis so they didn’t care to find the actual problem. They didn’t listen, and that is what really irked me. So i got my battery issue handeled and low and behold it wasn’t the battery I’m having an electrical issue just like I said it was. So now I need to find a dependable mechanic that will LISTEN and hopefully work with me since Jimmy’s broadway excessivly charged me despite my getting work done there.
Update:
So I went to auto zone to at least take solice in not having the code that was yelling at me be on. Nope the code was still on in fact the part that they replaced for that code was valid for a diffrent engine all together. They fixed something that probably wasn’t even broken… what did the code have to do with? The issue that was draining my fraking battery!
So if you like being rolled over and still wind up with needless repairs and excessive charges then this is your place. but I suggest you RUN.
at least they smile as they frak you over.

Took my car in for a tune-​up and an oil change, left with a 1300 dollar bill for transmission work. The transmission still leaks and I still haven’t had my oil changed. The owner will gi ve you the guilt line of «oh, you don’t have to get this fixed, but I wouldn’t recommend letting your mother drive it, you could get stuck…» line of BS.
Super slick auto mechanics — over priced — subtext of dishonesty. Total shame — I was really looking forward to finding a good auto mechanic here.

I had my car in another shop and called them because I felt the first shop was giving me the run around, but I should have just left it with the first people. My car needed a new or rebuilt rear differential.
Dave told me to bring the car over immediately, he would take care of me, he knew how to fix the problem.
When I got there they told me that they needed to run their own diagnosis on it for $ 120, even though the car had already been diagnosed by someone else who I paid $ 20 to make the same diagnosis. Fine, I thought, they have to run their own diagnosis to stand behind their work.
I was apprehensive to do this because at this point I had been toying with the idea of just trading the car in as-​is and getting something reliable. He told me that he would diagnose it quickly, and that if I did not want to go through with the repairs he would put it back together, fill it back up with grease for the fee. He told me the repair was a same-​day repair. They told me they’d call me by the end of the day with news, since they closed for the weekend and it was a Friday. I stressed to them this was very important, because my car had broken down right as I was packing up to leave town for the summer and I had already ended my lease in my home – I was staying uncomfortably on a friends’ couch and losing work by waiting for my car. 5:25 rolls around, no phone call. I call back and Dave is not available, but a receptionist tells me they couldn’t get a diagnosis and will call me first thing Monday morning. I politely say ok and wait patiently all weekend.
Monday morning rolls around and I get no phone call. I call them around noon, and they say they’ll call me back after lunch. I wait until 3:00, no phone call. I call back and they say Dave is gone again (at this point I haven’t even talked to him once since he urged me to take my car out of the other shop I had it in because he would take better care of me.)
I finally get a response out of them by having my husband call at 4:30. They tell him they won’t know anything until first thing Tuesday.
Tuesday comes around and the same exact thing happens. I get no new news that entire day and have to call them each time.
Wednesday comes around and the same exact thing happens in the morning, I can’t get them to call me back. I cannot get an answer out of them, I have no diagnosis. At 12, I tell them this is completely ridiculous and I need to know. They have blatantly lied repeatedly about how long this would take!
Dave called me back finally when I became firm and told me it would cost $ 2000 to fix the car with a used differential. I tell him that I can’t afford to do that to an 11-​year old car – I will take the car back and trade it in and get something reliable.
At this point Dave tells me that because of their diagnosis, the car is now completely inoperable and cannot be driven off the property. I ask him to explain and he says that since they opened the rear differential, the grease had to be thrown away that was in it, and to replace the grease is «very expensive.» I remind him, angrily, that he told me in the first place they would fill it back up and have it back in the condition it was brought to them in if I didn’t want to go through with the work, now what does he expect me to do? He offers to pay to tow it tomorrow. He then continues to talk about how he might be able to get another quote on the car by tomorrow for a cheaper price by rebuilding the differential instead of replacing it, which may be around $ 1000. I say ok, fully planning on just having him tow it back to me and getting it out of his possession.
I buy a new corolla in the meantime because I absolutely have to leave town.
I have to call Dave AGAIN in the morning, and he tells me that they can do it for $ 1000 now… after I bought a new car based on his $ 2000 quote. I’m put in a bad situation because I have to leave Tucson immediately, so I either have to pay to tow the truck to Phoenix and have my dad deal with it, or have this shop just fix it for $ 1000 and sell it after. I decide to let them fix it because $ 1000 is not bad for the job, but that I would only pay that, they say it’ll be quick.
I leave town and leave my dad in charge of picking it up. They actually sent the car to another shop to do it. They began work on it on Friday, 5 – 20.
The job is not done until Tuesday, 5−31… and I had to call them back yet again to get that news. The shop they took it to would not answer my phone calls either, until my father-​in-​law called for me. I left them a thorough message and they did not call me back, but called him back immediately when it wasn’t even his car.
All-​in-​all, 1-​star experience. Gave an extra star because maybe they are actually nice deep down and just terrible with timeframes? But I can’t help but feel I got scammed into leaving my car there when they obviously didn’t have the time or consideration to treat me as a priority.

if there’s one thing i value from a mechanic, it’s honesty. and i truly feel like i got that from Jimmy’s. I got an oil change, ac tune-​up, and my cv boot fixed. Everything was done quickly and affordably. The customer service was great!

Free oil change! well sort of. I had some work done on my car way back, which I was overcharged for. They made a note and that credit gave me a free oil change today! A great surprise since I only drive my car once a week.
But more importantly, they have someone who actively documents and records their work. This is an excellent characteristic for a business.

I saw all these amazing reviews on Unilocal and also saw the 2 for 1 oil change special on here. So I decided, what the hell, let me help out a local shop and see what all the fuss is about. I was not expecting to get into the debacle that I did. I initially brought my car in just to get an oil change but I later discovered that Jimmy’s dealt with extended warranty work. I had a broken radio auxiliary jack so I asked them to see what they could do. At this time I was dealing with, what I thought was a normal nice old man named Dave. As per usual, he contacted the extended warranty and they said that if there was an internal issue they would cover it entirely. But if not I would have to pay for the diagnostics and repair if I decided to carry through with it. Dave contacted me later the next morning and told me the good news that my radio did indeed have an unrepairable part, and that the extended warranty would cover. After my oil change was done, I decided to pick up my car until the warranty radio was received by Jimmy’s. My brother and I got dropped off at the shop and I started talking with Dave and he told me my bill was $ 75. That immediately confused me because I thought the oil change was only $ 35 and the other work was supposed to be covered. At that point my brother and I started to question Dave about what the additional $ 40 charge was for. Dave started to get extremely uncomfortable and was reluctant to give us any information on the unaccounted for charge. The only thing he could tell us was that there was some labor that the extended warranty would not cover. To me, that simply did not sound right so I asked him to see some paper work or a physical copy of the work done. As soon as I asked for that, Dave’s face and demeanor completely altered and he became enraged. He started to yell at my brother and I and told us to get off of his property because we were trespassing. I tried explaining that we had been dropped off there and had no ride and obviously our car was in their shop. He just kept yelling and said we could come back tomorrow to get our car but that he «can’t deal with [our] shit right now.» He then threatened to call the cops, which he did. We walked across the street and waited til the cops came and we explained the entire situation. The cops were extremely understanding and helpful, and they allowed us to pick up our car. Needless to say, I had a terrible experience at this shop.

I completely despise doing any maintenance or repairs to my car. It usually ruins my day but Jimmy’s seriously made it better! I left that place happy for once! I went in for an oil change (which is a great price, by the way, for what you get and they fixed a front light bulb at no charge. They didn’t even mention that they had done this… just noted it on my service report!
Then they noticed my tires needed to be replaced but instead of trying to sell me some on the spot they made a recommendation for another tire place where I could get a better warranty. Unlike places like Jiffy Lube where I feel like they’re trying to scam me all the time they made their recommendation, educated me, and left it at that.
This was my first visit to Jimmy’s but definitely not my last. They knew everyone that walked in the door though and were very kind to everyone.

Phenomenal. I had my cars taken care of last week and took advantage of their AWESOME Unilocal offer of buy one oil change, get one free. They have this adorable little PT Cruiser that will drive you wherever you need to go while they work on your car, and the driver was a retired mechanic that worked at Jimmy’s for decades before semi-retiring…he was a riot. Then they went above and beyond when instead of sending the PT Cruiser to pick me up at the end of the day to come get my car… they had somebody drive my car back to me! (All the way to Sabino Canyon). Congrats Jimmy, I’m def going to become a regular as long as I’m in Tucson and will definitely be spreading the word on your great service.
The only small negative I experienced was the female working the phones… she is not very friendly at all, a complete contrast to everybody else I encountered working at Jimmy’s.

Going to Jimmy’s is like going to to your hometown mechanic. They recognize you when you walk through the door, talk to you like they know you and listen to your questions when you ask them; most importantly, they do great work on cars.
I had to take my car in for a number of reasons this time around and they were able to explain the problems the car had better than the dealership ever has.

My car was totalled by an illegal driving a big white 1976 truck. I got a hefty insurance payout but was left with the burden of fixing my car. The accident happened in January; my air conditioning stopped working in August. Wanting to give my baby the best service available, I took her to Jimmy’s Broadway. Everything from the initial phone call appointment setup to the shuttle that picked me up to get my car, was outstanding.
Jimmy’s Broadway Automotive Service has a website with a great interface and obvious thought into the web design. You can write your information down and submit it to the server and they’ll call you the next day to book an appointment.
They offer a free shuttle service. This is not a van that runs once an hour; they have a PT Cruiser that will take you back home after dropping off your car and pick you up when your car is ready. Or they’ll take you to work. Or, in my case, to the university.
Everyone is friendly! Customer service must be driven into these people because I don’t know anyone who lives in Tucson that is that nice. They’ll talk you through their work and they don’t pressure you into buying anything.
They have wonderful goodies on their front counter: plastic maintenance folders, pens, keychains, magnets, and chocolate covered mints. These are not paper thin magnets that pizza chains hand out– no, they are high quality thick magnets that I took 5 of and now decorate my fridge.
They have a lot of coupons on their website. Old people discount, student discount, make-​your-​appointment-​online discount, and other specific auto care coupons.
