I went in to get new tires on my hybrid. When they put my car back down, they told me the battery was bad and I’d need to have it replaced in order to leave. They told a very specific and overly elaborate story about their test equipment — a fairly crude model — indicating an internal short. I went onto the shop floor to see for myself. The test unit did indeed show an internal short… because they’d left the headlights on. I flipped them off and assured them my battery would be just fine as soon as I left, to just give me a jump and I’d be on my way. I can’t be positive they were running a scam on me, they may just be that stupid. If you want to decide for yourself, you know where to find them.
