George’s Heating & AC

2 – 10 Warranty dispatched this company out when one of our AC units stopped working. George’s Heating & AC called me on a Monday and said they couldn’t be out until Thursday afternoon. It’s not ideal, but I get it– it’s June in Tucson. I was home all day waiting and they never showed up. I called twice that afternoon and left voice messages inquiring if they were still coming. They never called back. I understand that things happen; you run behind or a truck breaks down or whatever, but to not have the courtesy to call is rude and unprofessional. I’m thinking 2 – 10 needs to consider who they dispatch out to their customers’ home, seeing from other reviews this wasn’t the first time and I doubt it’s the last.

We had a terrible experience with this company and I don’t recommend working with them. They were called to our home by 2 – 10 warranty to certify our heat pump unit for a home warranty. At the certification the technician damaged a valve on the unit and claimed to have repaired it. Two days later the heat pump would no longer cool. We made an appointment for George’s to return (3 days later in Tucson in July) but they did not keep that appointment. They essentially stopped taking or returning our calls. We called a reputable contractor to repair the unit and they verified that the repairs made to the broken valve were faulty and we had lost all of our freon. 2 – 10 offered to have George’s return for the repair but we no longer trust them and paid an almost $ 300 price differential for a better company to fix THEIR mistake.

This is the worst company to deal with. I have been trying to get my ac fixed for over a week. They told me they were going to order the part on Monday and have it in Tuesday to fix. We are now on Friday and they have to come back out to get the information on the part that is broken. George said the pictures they took the first time weren’t good. As if that’s not enough, the first time they came to just «look» at the ac, they told me they would be here by 5pm because that’s when they stop working. They showed up at 630pm causing me to go to work late. The second time they came out, we set the time for 830am and he didn’t show up till 905am.

Another 2 – 10 Warranty customer. Called in an order and was assigned this company. The fan is not turning in the AC, so it shuts down automatically. This in 100 degree heat. 2 – 10 labeled our call «Emergency» and when George’s called, they told us they could be out in 4 days. When I said that wasn’t going to work, they shortened it to 3 days. Given how 2−10s systems work, you’re damned if you do (switch to another contractor and possibly lose the Friday date) and damned if you don’t (wait it out and see if George’s shows up on Friday).
Not happy with either company right now.

Three stars for the overall experience, four for the tech. that came to out house, two for the first service call. This was an 2 – 10 Home Buyer’s Warranty call (and by the way they have been great.) First appt., nobody showed up, nobody called. Very unimpressive as there is a lot of competition out there. Second call, tech. showed up late but called to apologize. Mike, the tech, ran a series of tests and gave our heat pump a clean bill of health. The last company, that we hired to do an annual service, came up with a list of all kinds of issues and really wanted to sell us an $ 11,000 new system. We really appreciated Mike’s honesty and competency.

Lack of air conditioning may not seem like a real emergency but Tucson in August gets pretty hot. Our ac went out on a Friday evening and we had resigned ourselves to a steamy weekend. To our happy surprise George came out early Saturday, had the correct motor to replace the one that was dead, and got the temperature dropping in short order. We heartily recommend the service.
