GAP’s mission is simple: Stand in the Gap for those in need.

People need hope, help & healing to navigate life. Through the practical expression of God’s love, and partnering with our community, GAP can impact one life at a time with destiny.

GAP Ministries, a 501c3 nonprofit social services agency since 1999, stands in the gap through the following:

* SPLASH Houses: Fourteen (14) family-style group homes in NW Tucson for children 0 – 21 in the custody of the state due to neglect or abuse

* MERGE: a program to help teens and young adults discover their potential and age successfully out of foster care into independent adulthood

* BOOST Community Resources: warehousing and distributing food and household necessities to over 90 Southern Arizona nonprofits that serve the needy

* ROOT 52 Community Kitchen & Food Truck: Reclaiming highly perishable food that would otherwise go to waste, while reclaiming lives through culinary arts training and certification

* Holiday of Hope and Backpack-2-School: collaborating with businesses, churches, government and civic groups, and hundreds of volunteers to serve disadvantaged children

History

Established in 1999.

Pam and Greg Ayers started GAP Ministries, which has grown to a $ 6 million budget, in 1999 out of the garage of their home. Greg, a VP in banking, and Pam, a VP with American Express, decided to make a change and use their God-given talents to make a difference in the world after the loss of a dear friend. They moved to Tucson and began feeding hungry families from a pantry in their garage, and then opened their home to children in the foster care system, adopting 4 of them. GAP now cares for over 300 children annually in 14 residential group homes with a family-style model.

GAP also partners annually with school districts, businesses and hundreds of volunteers for a collaborative program called Backpack-2-School, and has given out 45,000 backpacks in 8 years.

GAP is a Good360 Redistribution Partner, allowing us to warehouse and share food and basic household items with over 70 local nonprofits serving the needy. In 2013 GAP gave over 1,000,000 pounds of food to partner agencies.

GAP Ministries has grown from a pantry and a handful of children cared for in their own home to a 25,000 square foot 4-dock warehouse and 14 residential group homes caring for children in the custody of Child Protective Services.
