Flash in the Past

I cannot fathom enough words of praise when it comes to my FitP experience. Completely worth every penny. I would do another shoot in a heartbeat without having to think twice. I am hyper-​critical of pictures of myself… To be so enamored with my pictures that I keep staring at them is embarrassing, but the truth! All thanks to Ramsey and her artistic skills. Do yourself a favor and book your shoot as soon as possible!

Holy Pin-​Up Girls Batman! I booked a shoot as a 5^th Wedding Anniversary gift to my husband and he asked «Well what am I getting you?» I looked at him and said «You’re getting me a vintage pinup shoot!» After the shoot I can think of no truer words. Honestly I think I’m getting the better end of that deal!
Ramsey, the photographer, and Kelly, make up artist, are incredibly charming and personable. I seriously walked in for my photo shoot and felt like I had known these lovely ladies my whooole life. They were easy going, sweet, and very helpful to someone who was unsure of the process.
I told Ramsey I love Bettie Page but had no clue what to wear but that I liked reds/​blacks and she pulled a ton of options, had me try them on and helped me pick out what was the most flattering. We ended up doing two outfits rather than just one because she liked them both so much. I also got to pick out props for the shoot. I chose a leopard print chair because rawr right?
I also felt fabulous in my makeup and asked Kelly what she was doing while she was doing it and she talked me through everything. She was so good, in fact, I signed up for one of the makeup/​hairstyle classes the next day! They offered me makeup wipes afterward and I think I replied «Who’d ever want to take this off?!» I think this may become my regular treat!

I contacted FITP to arrange a shoot for my wedding gift for my soon to be husband. It was a great decision! Never have I ever had so much fun in front of a camera! The downtown location is an adorable spacious studio. I truly felt as if I was taken back in time for a few hours. I loved looking at their vintage collection while trying potential outfits on and it was awesome that there was an old movie playing during my time in the studio (The Seven Year Itch — lol). Both Lindsey and Ramsey were great to work with and they made me feel comfortable and beautiful. Lindsey did my hair and make up wonderfully and even let me keep my fake lashes! Ramsey helped arrange my attire and photographed me. Thank you ladies — you rock!!! I am sad that I will be moving from Tucson at the end of May but I will definitely be returning to FITP during one of future visits to Tucson!!!

What a cool funky shop right here in Downtown Tucson. Oh my, if your’e into yesteryear than this is the shop for you. What a trip down memory lane. Saw some clothing that my Mama wore in the 1940’s and l950’s that are here in excellent condition and ready to wear. Lovely hats, and purses galore. You can also have some pictures taken in these oldie clothes. What a nice combo and photos and adding some zip to your wardrobe.

I’m not usually at a loss for superlatives, but oh. My. God. This place. THIS PLACE.
Treating myself to the Flash in the Past experience was the single best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
The owner of FITP is an absolute sweetheart. The whole process is comfortable and also extremely professional. She knows what she’s doing! Also, I HIGHLY recommend getting your hair done. It lasted three days!
Ladies, don’t wait to do things you want to do. I waited four years to get my pictures taken because I wanted to wait until I had lost weight or for an occasion or for a special someone. Life is too short for that nonsense! Do something that makes you feel good RIGHT NOW.
I could write a novel about how much fun I had and the pictures turned out to be GORGEOUS. Go! Have some fun and support a local business.

This is a great experience. I paid extra to get my hair done and it was totally worth it. My makeup was flawless and even though I am not used to wearing makeup they made me feel and look amazing. I even got to keep the false lashes after. Once I actually got in to taking the pictures Ramsey made sure I felt comfortable even is some of the poses weren’t the easiest to keep while taking pictures. They have an amazing selection of vintage clothes, shoes, and props. I haven’t seen my pictures yet, but I am really excited to see them.

I have been here twice, both times I had excellent experiences with the gals! I’m not going to lie… I am pretty self-​conscious and had some trouble with my first shoot (thanks to me being overly critical of myself). Ramsey is such a sweet person. She made me feel so comfortable the entire time. She’s very creative and you won’t ever be disappointed. Highly recommend, esp as gifts for significant other ;) This has turned into an obsession. Already counting down the days until I can return and already have my outfit picked out. Thanks :)

I can’t say enough about what a positive experience flash in the past is. Ramsey is über professional and relaxed and has created a fun and safe environment. She was very prompt in scheduling and staying in contact. She was also very flexible and full of ideas and tips during the session.
The hair artist that she hired managed to turn my stick straight hair into glorious victory rolls (that actually last multiple days afterwards!). The look was perfect and the photos beyond delightful. Plus, considering the amount of work in preparing/​styling, providing wardrobe and photoshopping the products are surprisingly reasonably priced. The results are truly a piece of art that will be cherished.

What a fun experience!!! Ramsey is so fun to work with. She makes it super easy and guides you really well on exactly what to do. Also, you can try on as many outfits as you want and they do your make up and put a wig on!!! You really feel transformed and the pics turned out fun!!! I had a groupon so it wasn’t too pricey either, but I have heard it can be without the groupon. Overall really fun!

Flash in the Past was five stars from start to finish. Ramsay was a joy to work with from booking all the way to picking up my photos at the end, and made me look and feel like a gorgeous movie star. Not only is her entire collection almost entirely vintage, but she’s got an incredible eye for style and even if you have no idea what look you’re going for, she can pick out something extremely flattering for your body shape.
I already purchased another package as a gift, can’t wait to see my friend get her pics done! :)

Flash In The Past is an amazing experience that will give you photos to cherish for the rest of your life. I came in with my concept for a Christmas card, my costume and my hair done. But none of that is a pre-​requisite. Ramsey, the photog, has plenty of ideas and really has an eye for vintage. She has a room full of costumes and props. She has make-​up and hair artists. Her whole house is set up for photo shoots. She’s patient, she puts you at ease, and she gets the shots that you’ll want to share.
My Christmas card was a hit and everyone wanted to know who made it. Give yourself a treat (and possibly your significant other) and go see Ramsey!

I was SOOOOO impressed by Ramsey and Flash in the Past! My photos are gorgeuos and I had a ton of fun with her, make up staff, and hair stylist! I got the works! It was unmatched. She transformed this mom into a gorgeous pin up! She has such an amazing eye for photography and such talent. She should be shooting famous people! She’s that good. BUT for little old Tucon this is a once in a life time awesome incredible experience that you will never forget and the photos willnot only impress you but want to show them off to others how awesome you look. Thanks Rasey for all that you do and for hooking me up! You ROCK FITP!!!

I have had the pleasure of shooting with Flash in the Past three times. It is phenomenal each and every time. Donna does a fantastic job on makeup and Ramsey is a fantastic photographer. They do a great job of making you feel and look like a vintage movie star.

One of the most amazing experiences ever! I loved it so much, I’ve been for two sessions. I tried this studio when they ran their Groupon special. I was so nervous because I’d never tried anything like it, but I love the pinup era and wanted to go for something out of my comfort zone.
The studio is in a beautiful home in the historic district of Tucson and it’s decked out with vintage everything! The photographer, Ramsey, is totally laid back and awesome. AND she has chocolate. They bring in a makeup artist and someone to help you pose while playing old 50’s movies in the background.
They put you at ease while discussing what kind of shoot you’d like and then pull out outfits to try on from a massive, awesome dress-​up closet full of authentic vintage things. They also have tons of props! Tiki torches, umbrellas, vintage cameras, luggage, etc… whatever theme you build they have things to supplement it. I did a Bettie Page style leopard swimsuit/​tiki theme and also a travel photography inspired theme.
It really is like an amazing dress up session for grownups! I could hide in that closet and play dress up for DAYS. They transform you by doing your makeup and fitting a wig (they’ll also do your actual hair if you add that) and then the actual photo shoot is a ton of fun. This is an experience I wish everyone would get a chance to have. And the pictures? I’ve never been so happy with a picture of myself!!!
I’d really encourage anyone who is interested to just do it, don’t procrastinate. So many ladies want to wait to lose weight or put it off for XYZ, but honestly this experience will show you how awesome it is to embrace yourself as you are and work it!!!

I just got my pictures back from Flash in the Past. I am very happy with the results. I am not a photogenic person, but Ramsey (the photographer) really knows how to make you feel comfortable and get the best out of you. She has a ton of clothes to make your shoot really unique. Her make up person was awesome as well. I would totally recommend this studio, and hope to go there again some day.

Why doesn’t this place have more reviews?
I found out about this place through the grace of that Groupon special they were running and I am SO glad I did! I cannot tell you how charming this studio is! It specializes in vintage themes ranging from pinup, to rockabiliy, to retro – you name it. The entire studio is authentic in vintage pieces so there is no shortage of inspiration for your photos. The owner, Ramsey, is very passionate about keeping it pretty authentic and true to the nature of her theme, which shows in her work. I am so glad I found this place. It’s very fun and versatile, and I plan on doing another shoot in the future, there’s just too many themes to choose from! Whether it be a fun treat for your boyfriend/​husband, or as a thoughtful gift certificate for a friend, you will definitely feel empowered by doing a pinup shoot for yourself. This is a class act all the way… Pure art and I don’t mean «art» in the way that «nudity is art» way, but «art» as in «posing in a bustier and tights can be just as tasteful as a fully clothed portrait» sort of way.
You will not regret doing this. If not for anyone else, DO IT FOR YOURSELF, you will feel sexy and confident!

Flash in the Past is a vintage pin-​up style photography studio. They stay true the pin-​up aesthetic, using only vintage or high-​quality reproduction clothing items and fabulous wigs. I went to Flash in the Past a year and a half ago, at the old location, and had a wonderful time. Think full-​service treatment, from chocolate-​covered strawberries to your own personal makeup artist.
Ramsey, the owner and photographer of FITP, makes you feel at ease, helping you pose and telling you what a great job you’re doing. As a narcissist with no modeling experience, it was reassuring and made the experience much more enjoyable.
A couple of weeks later, I got my proofs. AMAZING. I showed up to my appointment in sweats, but you’d think I lived in red lipstick and lingerie based on these photos. I felt, and looked, beautiful.
I encourage anyone who wants to treat themselves (or a loved one!) to book an appointment with Flash in the Past. They offer all sorts of packages, from the basic mini-​shoot to a full suite of add-​ons.
