Elements in Balance

Got a prenatal gift package here and was not dissapointed. Do not usually venture this far north on 4^th but now will have to get there more often. This little spa/​salon offers Aveda treatments and products. There is an Aveda school here in town, but if you want the more professional approach, head on over here. I was warmly greeted and met with the people providing my services up front. Very professional and attentive to my special needs that day. I think what I liked most about this Aveda expereince, is unlike other Aveda places I have been to, there was no pressure to re-​book another appointment or to buy any of the products. The staff was happy to see me there for the service. It made me feel very comfortable and eager to come back. IF you havent tried Aveda services before, you must go! You arent just paying for a massage or haircut, you get an entire expereince every time you step in.

I came to Elements for a 90 minute Chakra Balancing Massage which was nice, but the massage was only about 60 minutes. I was in and out (paperwork, undressing, dressing) in 75 minutes flat. I told the receptionist and she offered to take $ 20 off, and was accommodating when I told her I was only willing to pay for a 60 minute massage, which was $ 40 less. It’s a shame — I’m a generous tipper and the lack of time cut my tip in half.

I had never been to this salon before, but a friend recommended I try it out. The receptionists were so warm and welcoming. Maria cut my hair, and she did a great job! Not only do I love my cut, but Maria was also such a nice person and really great to talk to. I will definitely be back. Awesome service. Thank you!

The weirdest and perhaps worst massage of my life but the facial and pedicure were both outstanding and done by wonderful human beings.

Ooookaaay… It has been some time since I have been back. It bums me out to have to write this review, but I must. I was constantly in there for a number of things– product, spa treatments, cuts, color, etc. I also referred everyone I knew. There is no system of keeping track of the referrals, which is unfortunate as they were very rude to my good friend when something had gone wrong with her hair. That was the final straw for me after I had dealt frequently with rude receptionists, but was willing to overlook it for the quality cuts. Customer service is the name of the game and not keeping track who comes in/​how often and makes referrals is a BIG mistake.

I am reviewing my whole experience. Massage was the weirdest experience I have ever had… BUT…Maria was amazing. She was easy to talk with, laugh with and really just sit back and relax. Maria gave the best pedicure I have ever had, and i have had many!
The facial was outstanding! Calm, quiet and SO relaxing. Satya was un-​real!
The services weren’t what gives this place a 5/​5, it was truly the people!

Last time I came here, it was actually for a blowout! You can do those here – you don’t have to drive up to a place like Heat (and it’s the same price). I was going for a job interview out of town, and my stylist conditioned and styled my hair so that it would stay smooth for my interview the next day in a very humid state. It worked perfectly! She was patient, because I have a lot of hair. Like, A LOT. She took extra time to make sure it was all dry and straight, and didn’t charge me extra (which some places do). Nice! The included scents were very relaxing, too, for pre-​interview jitters. I’ve gotten my hair cut here, too, and liked it.

I sent my dad and brother here recently for a cut, and theirs wasn’t quite as good. My brother has the same genes as me in the hair department… big hair. His bangs looked a little too thick and crooked after the cut, and the back of his head was tapered a bit too much, even though he asked the stylist not to over-​taper. My dad’s looked nice, though.
In sum, dynamite for women’s cuts and styles, but perhaps not as consistent for men’s?

Let me preface this review quickly — I worked in the beauty industry in New York City for the past 8 years. I am incredibly picky when it comes to beauty services and products. Like, obnoxiously picky… and i think Satya is amazing.
Needless to say, I was skeptical about finding a salon/​spa with equivalent talent here in Tucson when I moved here a few months ago. I went to Wax Werks with a friend for brow waxing and the girl (I say girl because she couldn’t have been more than 19) annihilated my brows (and my friend’s brows too). Three months later, after my brows had mostly grown back, I was terrified of having to find a new place but I knew it needed to happen — my brows were shapeless and unruly. I work downtown so I decided to try somewhere close by and found Elements in Balance. I wasn’t super stoked on going to an Aveda salon because in general they have a pretty generic feel to them and subpar products but I do know a lot of Aveda graduates and I do know they train their people well. I called them up and booked a brow wax for later that afternoon with Denise. The woman on the phone was polite, friendly and helpful. I arrived and was greeted by the same friendly polite woman who booked my appointment. She offered me tea or water and Denise came to greet me right on time. The waxing service was wonderful — aromatherapy, great consultation and a very technically skilled professional. I was so happy. When I went to the register to pay, I tried to book my next appointment only to learn it was Denise’s last day! What a bummer. I let the receptionist know that I’m picky (I truly am) and that if they didn’t have anyone has good as Denise, to just let me know so I could go elsewhere. She assured me that Satya would do an amazing job. So I booked a brow wax with Satya. 4 weeks later I had my appointment with Satya and it was fantastic. So fantastic I decided to book a facial with her. The facial was fantastic. Though I have to be honest, I wish the product line was not Aveda, I’m totally willing to accept it because Satya is just that amazing. Extractions with minimal redness, calming energy and she’s very knowledgeable. I’ve had 4 appointments with her so far and am certain I will continue to be a regular loyal client. I know I said it before but I have to reiterate, she has the best energy, my services with her are so calming and relaxing, I literally fell asleep last week during my facial and peel.
So why didn’t I give them 5 stars? The décor of the salon is pretty awful and dated and yeah, I wish the product line was of higher quality.

How should I even begin? First of all, you walk in to the salon & spa and are immediately greeted with a smile and a friendly face. The «Aveda» aroma is pleasant and doesn’t smell like your traditional «salon» and you’re not bombarded with synthetic smells or acrid odors. That, I like. The receptionist always asks whether you would like some tea or water while you wait for your service. Shortly there after, you’re greeted by your Aveda professional.
When I get my haircut I usually go to either Bridget or Danielle. I’ve had Allison cut my hair too and they are all nothing short of amazing. There are times where I’ve just walked in and they’ve been able to squeeze me in to their busy schedules, but I would highly recommend making an appointment first. All three are very attentive when it comes to finding out exactly what you want and you can never be overly specific with your style and cut. They always wash my hair before and after my cut which is nice and only use the best Aveda product on my hair.
I’ll admit, being a guy, I was a little reluctant at first getting my haircut at a salon, but my wife turned me on to the idea after she had a very pleasant and relaxing experience there. And, active duty military get a discount too! That’s always a plus. I would definitely recommend this salon if you’re looking for a relaxing atmosphere and enjoy the company of genuinely nice people. The ladies at Elements in Balance are awesome and I can not wait to go back there.

Elizabeth the nail tech is amazing. She does such a neat, perfect job at both manicures and pedicures. As an added bonus, she is great company: so funny and kind! Definitely see her if you’re looking for great services!

I love this salon! The front desk was positive and friendly. My stylist was Annette, she gave me an amazing haircut that is perfect for my crazy curly hair. She really listened and understood. I love Aveda products which is a plus, they have a great selection. A great shampoo and hand massage went with the cut. I left feeling like a million!

This salon is a great Aveda salon. My best friend went to this salon when we went to the UofA, so when I moved back to Tucson and needed a new hairstylist, I looked on Unilocal and went to some friends for advise. I finally decided to go with Elements in Balance.
Tip: check-​in offer! I don’t want to say more in case they change it or delete it but they had a fantastic check-​in offer! It’s great to see businesses that are active with their social media.
And to the important part — my hair stylist, Bridget, was wonderful! I came in with my hair embarrassingly up in a pony tail and left with flowing locks of beauty. Thanks Elements in Balance!

The first time I visited Elements was for a brow waxing. It was not my first choice but it was close to where I live. Would I return for waxing? Maybe.
However, totally different story for the hair services. I made an appointment for a haircut and arrived with a very specific idea of what I wanted. However, the stylist, Danielle gave me some suggestions and I decided to went with it. Hell, she’s the expert right? Right. I love my haircut! I went shorter that I intended and she gave me a more blunt cut. I usually don’t like this combination as it makes me look younger than I want (I have been told by multiple people that I look seventeen as it is). However, the layers around my face make the whole look appear more adult. Bonus: Hair services come with neck and hand massages. Double bonus: $ 10 off ANY service with a Unilocal check-​in.
I highly recommend Danielle. Love my hair and love that this salon is on Fourth. Looking forward to my next appointment at Elements.

This is for eyelash extensions only.
Had a fill done here and massive lash loss followed soon after. False lashes were glued to two and sometimes THREE natural lashes. When these clusters fall out, you get gaps.
The ratio of false lashes to real lashes should be 1:1 to avoid this scenario.
I am currently scrambling to get some Latisse to try to keep my existing lashes in their growth phase so they don’t fall out en mass and make me look like a newborn marsupial!

Sometimes I wish I had a gaggle of elves to help me keep my life in order, really. I guess they don’t need to be elves, they can be fully realized people. What I am getting at is sometimes things like getting my ‘do did get lost in the shuffle of the mundane everyday tasks that plague me. Luckily I have friends who are kind enough to point out my mop do and when it needs to go. And luckily Katrina is always willing to squeeze me in with Allison who is quick like lightening at getting me in the chair and out the door in under an hour! And given what people have been saying about the shorter haired me, my head is like a walking Unilocal review!

I have had a hair cut and a facial here. Both have been great and relaxing! Bridget was my hair stylistic, let me tell you she knows what she is doing my hair looks fantastic! She really listened to me and gave her opinion.
Katrina gave me a facial. It was super relaxing and effective. I’m a big fan of using all natural products and am glad that the facials they use actually work! My face is super soft and feels so much better! Can’t wait til my next appointment!

After my last eyebrow wax experience (which was NOT at Elements in Balance), I was really, well, scared to try it again. Here, you’ll know why. .
I thought if there any place that I would be willing to try again, it would have to be here. I spoke to Satya and again explained that I had really sensitive skin. She remembered me from my facial and remembered about the sensitive skin. We talked for a while and she explained about this type of wax. It’s a hard wax, so it hardens and there are no strips to yank off.
I relaxed and Satya was showing me the shape she would give my brows. All the while she was asking if it was alright. She really understood that I didn’t want super thin brows, or pointy, or super arched. The shape she explained was perfect and exactly what I wanted.
OK, so wax time. Satya and I were talking the whole time she was applying the wax. Yes, she’d let me know when it was coming off, but I just felt a quick little sting. Not the face ripping pain I’d felt before. It was a nice surprise to see I still had skin. So, the wax came off and there was no burning! Oh, I could have cried just for that!!!
I love Satya, I love this salon, I love their waxing, I saw Irene in the lobby and I love her too. It is such a relief to know that I can actually get a brow wax like a normal person and not have to hide my face afterwards. I’m so happy! I left here with great eyebrows and even some book recommendations from Satya. THIS is why I’ve been coming back and plan on continuing to do so!

My 100^th review! So today I had a wonderful massage from Patrick. He really made me feel so comfortable and relaxed! Some places only massage you for 45 minutes, but I really felt like he really took the whole 60 mins. I left there feeling refreshed and relaxed.
The staff was very friendly and the place felt really warm when I walked in from the cold weather outside! I was also listening to some of the hair stylists and their clients, I felt that they really do listen to what their clients want. I am wondering now if I should try and get my hair done there too!
I will go back! And I will tell my friends!

Very great experience. I got my hair cut at Elements in Balance, and the experience was all around awesome.
Everyone there is so focused on customer service. I felt great when I left: refreshed, relaxed, and super cute. I definitely felt comfortable and focused on while I was there. Plus the salon uses Aveda products so you can feel good and green as well.
All in all, I highly recommend for the overall positive experience!
