Cold Snap Yogurt

Tonight I stopped in to Cold Snap, and was shocked to learn that tonight is their absolute last night open. They are closing.
I will say it a million times, people please support your local businesses.
ESPECIALLY small family ran businesses such as this one.
The owner was always terrific and sincere — and I know that she put a lot of passion and effort into trying to keep this business up and going.
People always assume that a business is going to be around. In the back of their minds they say «Oh, I will come again sometime in the future.» Then they go, and it’s no longer in business.
Please keep this in mind during your holidays. Instead of taking the family out to Red Lobster or Olive Garden (or whatever) take them to a small restaurant that truly needs your business.
So sad about this one closing.

I love this place. The «shave it» is huge and sometimes they will even split it into two cups for me. Their yogurt is always fresh and the perfect consistency and the place as a whole seems super clean.

Just went here for the first time tonight. I really wanted gelato (from Allegro of course) but settled due to good reviews and proximity. I don’t usually care for frozen yogurt. It’s just… not very good. Kind of bland, or artificial tasting, with a weird non-​creamy texture. You add a crap load of toppings so you don’t have to taste it. Not here!
This is the best frozen yogurt I’ve ever had. I was initially disappointed with the lack of variety (4 flavors), but they didn’t need more. I had the red velvet cake mixed with vanilla + granola, but I’d like to go back for the tart. It was frozen yogurt that could stand on its own in a bowl. This is to other frozen yogurts what gelato is to ice cream. And I’m not going to even pretend that it’s vaguely good for me.

There are a lot of topping options (fresh fruit, syrups, nuts, dried goods) and their Original yogurt was okay. The were REALLY generous with their yogurt, but I thought the price was a little high for a small size portion. It was about $ 3.50 but you have to pay more for each topping.
On the side they do offer a selected number of ”FREE” toppings that you can add.
Plenty of parking space and the bathroom was clean.
I regret not using a groupon now! discount. could have saved a couple of bucks.

In all honesty this is by far the best place for Froyo in Tucson! Next best well you’d have to drive 6 – 8 Hrs to San Diego for some Pinkberry which is amazing. Cold Snap they do things right with a usual of 4 – 5 flavors cause guess what you don’t have to slam people with a million flavors when your confident in the four or five you have being
. plenty of toppings to chose from with everything always being quite fresh, mochi! So try it you’ll like it.

I haven’t had frozen yogurt since TCBY when I was a kid. I remember it being almost painfully sweet, artificially flavored, and seemingly related to yogurt only in name.
So I was very pleasantly surprised by the «original tart» flavor at Cold Snap: it’s frozen yogurt. In fact, it’s frozen *good* yogurt. I tasted no added sugar or artificial flavors. I added in some toppings to give it texture and a little extra sweetness.
PROTIP: on the far left side of the counter are free toppings!

Tangy frozen yogurt that’s the real deal! Delicious & tart. I usually take some home & it’s good in the freezer for weeks. Nice staff, cool design to the place.

The frozen yogurt here cannot really be low-​fat, can it? It tastes way too creamy, waaaay too decadent to be even remotely good for you. Eating here feels like saying «F YOU!» to your diet, but — PLOT TWIST! — you were being health conscious the whole time! [/​M. Night Shayalamamlalmaman]
There’s only two machines pumping out four flavors, and two of the flavors (vanilla and tart) never leave the menu, but don’t let the lack of variety dissuade you. The frozen yogurt here is of the highest quality you can find in Arizona, and so no matter what flavor you end up with, you’ll go home a winner. Disliking this place for its few-​but-​ever rotating high quality options is like walking into a store that sells Armani and Burberry at JCPenney prices and dismissing it simply because it doesn’t have as many options as JCPenney. Or to put it into Tucson foodie terms, it’d be like saying 47 Scott is crap compared to The Cheesecake Factory because of its limited menu.
I almost always go with their tart, because the flavor and creaminess remind me of skyr (Icelandic low-​fat soft cheese that’s made like a strained yogurt). It is indeed tart, but the richness and slight sweetness go a long way towards cutting the slightly sour flavor. No puckering lips here. The toppings are all very fresh (I always get fruit), and the portions are pleasantly large. As Alysia W. said in her review, in addition to getting a full cup, they top it off with a perfect swirl.
To me, the biggest issue with this place is its location. The closest high traffic area is Tucson Mall, but it’s definitely not visible from there, and so business-​wise I worry about the place. Were it downtown or near the UA campus, this place would be packed, but as it stands every time I’ve gone, I’ve been the only one there.
My recommendation to the place: screw getting another machine for this location; try opening up a new location altogether!

My friend wanted to stop in here the other day during some errand running. I usually eat frozen yogurt out of guilt rather than for pleasure and since I was planning for some decadent Italian that night, I thought going the yogurt route would be a good idea. I was totally taken back by that first bite of rich, creamy, I’d never know this was a healthier option, fro yo. What an awesome surprise! In this case I’m glad I hadn’t read about this place on Unilocal!yet as I really did enjoy the unexpected jolt to my taste-​buds. Rich, creamy deliciousness with a plethora of toppings including fresh fruit options which I love.
I do have to agree with Leslie G, what’s up with just 2 machines? Come on, we need variety and options. Eying up the space behind the counter I decided there is definitely room for machine #3 so here’s to hoping that comes along soon.
The place is clean and bright, and the décor feels a bit «chilly» providing both a mental and physical break from the summer heat. Lucky for me, it’s not too far from work. Or maybe not lucky for me as I can’t imagine that this decadent creaminess is low-​fat. I do wish I could find some nutritional info. I checked the website but came up with nothing. I need to know if I should feel guilty eating this stuff!

Still loving this place! Had the pomegrante tart today and it was great! My daughter loves this place too!!!

Cold Snap is the definition of quality of quantity. They may only have 4 flavors at time, but they are much thicker, creamier and tastier than some of the other yogurt places around T-​town. Great topping options with very fresh fruit. Reasonable pricing as well.
Fun atmosphere with some limited seating. Easy parking and great central location. VERY friendly staff as well. Can’t wait to go back and give my taste-​buds another treat!

Cold Snap is GREAT! Wonderful tart flavors, and fresh toppings, also there is usually a selection of free toppings!

Came here tonight and it was empty, not even an associate at the counter, but someone quickly came to the front as soon as they heard my arrival [: The nicest lady ever gave me a sample of their passion fruit flavor and original tart. I’m not generally a fan of fruity flavors because I’m a die-​hard fan of how it’s supposed to be, plain! Somehow. Cold Snap Yogurt got me to change my mind! For the first time ever, I enjoyed a fruit inspired flavor. I didn’t order it because I couldn’t turn my back on my true love but I definitely loved the flavor of it. I got two toppings: mochi and strawberries. Two things different about Cold Snap? It’s not self-​serve, and they’re very generous. I was given a layer of yogurt, plenty of toppings, and (the pièce de résistance) a final top-​off of more fro-​yo! I typically prefer self-​serve yogurt shops because you can control the amount you want, and put as many toppings as you like. Shops that serve you generally charge more and put less in the cup (frowned upon!). I’m very happy with the serving size and quality of service at Cold Snap. The best thing about this place is their frequent buyers card! 10 purchases = 1 free small yogurt. This definitely makes me want to bring my business to them over BTO on Speedway. Yum, this place was decent, it was completely empty when we went though (maybe cause its the winter and late at night). I think they were just about to close and we were «those guys».
The yogurt is very thick and creamy which is always good because im always hoping for something to mimic ice cream. There are lots of topping to choose from which were fresh even at the end of the day.
Ask for a sample before you decide on a flavor because let me tell you they are some strong flavors. Make sure you can handle it for a cup full ;).

I just rode my bike to Cold Snap. The girl working there was awesome — she even grabbed some new mochi from the back. I wanted one of my friends to try mochi (rice cake that is like a gummi bear). I like a little topping on my yogurt but not much, and I hate when even sprinkles make a yogurt an extra 6 ounces! This is not a weigh-​by-​the-​ounce place. Cold Snap even has shaved ice — their fruit looks extremely fresh, so I would love to try this sometime. Also, their motif decorations are cool.
Cold Snap’s tart flavors seem to be less sour than they were last year but still tart, so that is a huge plus. Any time there are children that come into Cold Snap, they seem to be extra attentive. There is also a punchcard (I bought two yogurts and got two punches, paid $ 6, and got something far better than a gallon of ice cream — only 100 calories and non-​fat too). You can get a student discount too if that applies to you. The two restaurants adjacent to Cold Snap have closed; I hope Cold Snap stays open forever! A simply delicious treat! A nice clean space with character, very well done.
The staff and owner are friendly. The tart yogurt is so perfect, add granola and strawberries for a fresh and yummy dessert. The advantage for us is that we loved it as much as our 8 year old son!

Great selections of flavors. I normally stick to the simple flavor options but every now and then I branch into trying the other selections. Never disappointed in the choices.

As another reviewer mentioned, this really is the closest you can get to Pinkberry in Tucson. The original tart flavor is delish! Creamy and had a great texture. The fruit toppings are fresh and there are many toppings to choose from. There are also free daily toppings you can help yourself too!
The only downside really is that the flavors are pretty limited. (I only saw 4 when I came?) They have a punchcard, so make sure to ask for one if you’re a fro-​yo maniac like me.
Customer service was awesome! The lady that was working there asked if I was traveling far and if I wanted some ice to keep the fro-​yo from not melting. (:

This is for the Pinkberry fans, and they do it well. Lots of candies and sugary things to sprinkle on your yogurt, including a selection of sweet toppings that are self-​serve and free. I believe that changes daily.
I was there for the fresh fruit. I had the Original Tart flavor with cubed kiwi and strawberries. Very refreshing a humid August day in Tucson.
The other flavors were chocolate, vanilla, and the specialty flavor was a pomegranate blend.
There is an outdoor seating area and the interior has a clean upbeat feel with a bright mural and benches made from ski boards, in addition to tables and chairs.
Very friendly service and much closer than the nearest Pinkberry!

We’ve been here several times and for the first few times I just had their chocolate or vanilla, which was quite tasty. Eventually I got around to trying their original tart yogurt and WOW, it was good.
They have their nutritional values listed on their Web site and it wasn’t too bad.
