Caring Transitions

Warning! Do not sign a contract with this company. My grieving family did and we were robbed. Their contract entitles them to sell your items with a starting bid of $1, they are under no legal obligation to tell you when the sale/auction takes place, and you must pay them in advance to pick up your items (we paid $1000) and after they took their percentage we received $40 for bedroom and dining room furniture in great condition. When we complained to the company they said “Sorry but you need to look at the contract you signed.” Awful, greedy, parasitic company.

My wife and I are frequent customers of Caring Transitions and have been for a few years, enough where I thought we were on decent terms with the owners and employees. We decided to go to their sale on 06÷20÷15 in Saddlebrook, which is an hour drive for us, we really wanted a grill they had there and got up early to be the first ones there. We pulled into the house at 4am to leave our marker, we were shocked to see for the first time ever we were the 1^st people there. We waited in the truck for 2 hours until Matt and Shari showed up with the numbers and indeed we were 1 & 2. So let’s fast forward now to 8AM. As soon as Matt did his morning routine and speech he started calling numbers, me being #1 walked right up to the grill and pulled up the lid, before I could put the lid down Shari came over, slapped a sold sticker on it and said it was SOLD! How can this happen when I was the first one there? She said a guy walked in and said he wanted it as he walked in. Is that how a business should operate? So obviously we weren’t getting anywhere with Shari, so we waited to talk to Matt, who I think we have a better rapport with. He said that «he would look into it». As he asked Shari what happened she stated Andy said he wanted it. Well Andy was #5 and nowhere near the grill when I was there. Matt went and found Andy so we could talk about it and try to resolve it knowing one of us would be upset. We explained that we were there at 4am, numbers 1 & 2, I was at the grill but no one budged. So my wife and I decided to leave. Moral of the story is this place has poor business practices and tailors to their friends. Here is a little hint if you decide to shop there, find something in their photos you want and tell them you want it, don’t worry about getting there super early for a number, it’s wasting your time and sleep when all you have to do is tell them what you want and they will run over slap a SOLD tag on it and screw over everyone else.

I absolutely adore all the sales organized by Caring Transitions. Everything is clean and well-​sorted. The staff I have met at the sales are more than helpful and friendly. The information regarding the sale is put on the website two days before the sale with lots of pictures and helpful information. I have always found the pricing fair, even when it may not be the lowest in town. You can simply see all the efforts the Caring Transition team has put into each and every sale.
The estate sale scene in Tucson is quite busy, but when I am in town, I always make sure I leave time to check out Caring Transition’s sales. It is a great company doing great work!

The first time I used Caring Transitions I was moving from my home to a senior living place. They helped with the estate sale, packed me up, moved my father and me to separate locations and when I was released from the hospital I had a place to call home. Since then they have helped me downsize and move me several times. I cannot say enough great things about their care and gentleness. Zee is a mastermind when it comes to setting up the electronics. They just relocated me from Tucson to Phoenix in two days and moved my daughter, setting us up to live together along with three pets, and all at a reasonable price. I cannot say enough great things about Ann and her crew. You guys are great!

I’ve been to a couple Caring Transitions estate sales and they seem to have better prices than other sales I’ve visited in Tucson. There are always a couple curveball, overpriced items ($ 70 EACH for a set of two old patio chairs which need to be stripped and repainted?) but that happens at most estate sales.
The staff who work the sales are a bit a of a motley crew. For every friendly, helpful and unimposing staff member it seems like there are 2 to 3 more loud and socially inept staffers standing around doing nothing or actively weirding out the shoppers. The last sale I visited, one guy was rooting around in the refrigerator and talking loudly about what a genius he was for hiding his lunch in the oven. Two other staffers were eating their lunch amid the merchandise, sitting at a patio set that was a part of the sale, and talking SO LOUDLY about gun rights and their friend’s run in with a cop who wanted to take away his M7 (that’s a machine gun with armor piercing rounds, BTW.)
The sales otherwise are well-​organized and priced consistently, so I’ll still be back to enjoy the good deals and the local Arizona color.
