Camp Bow Wow Tucson

I must say that the beginning of our experience was not 5 star but when we picked our girl up that is when my opinion changed. Let me explain: I called on Monday late afternoon to request day camp for Tuesday since we had used a different location a year ago the girl said she would get our records and call me back in a couple of hours. Ok I waited I called back in a couple of hours to see what she found out and she apologized she didn’t get any of my information (I wondered about that but thought they had caller id) so she would have to take my information and call me right back, which she did. The other location could not find us so we would have to do the application and have a quick interview before we could leave her. She has been left several times at different places so we weren’t worried about her attitude towards other dogs. We were met by the owner Linda she was all business, after several minutes talking to us and seeing our girl she introducing our girl to a few dogs she told us to go on it would be ok. We headed on with our day knowing that our girl would be having a good play day. After about 3 ½ hours we return and Linda asks to speak to us outside! My heart went into my throat, what had happened was when Linda went back to observe our girl she noticed a questionable spot on her so she had placed her in a pen away from all the other dogs. She advised us to have it checked out. We were at a loss I mentioned that since we were out of townwers we had no idea where to take her. She was very kind and ask us to wait a few minutes she was going to make a call. When she came back she had made arrangements with her vet to wait on us they were just up the road from where she was at. Wow what a turn of events! I must say that she is the only person in all the years that we have boarded that I felt like really took the business seriously!!! We were very very thankful that she saw the spot on our girl and was proactive and protective of her other clients. I must say that the people in this area are very lucky to have this wonderful facility to leave there «furry» children. Thank you again Linda!!! (Update spot was not anything to worry about however was something that we needed to watch)

We just finished puppy (and people) training class with Lisa. She is a great trainer. One of the best we’ve come across in our years of having dogs. She makes the class fun and we learned so much. We highly recommend her and can’t wait for level 2 class.

This review is only for Camp Bow Wow’s boarding and doggie day care services. We’ve never used their grooming or training services before.
We’ve used Camp Bow Wow to board our two 75-​pound shepherds three times this year: two 4-​night stays, and one 6-​night stay. Each time, the dogs have come back happy, healthy, and tired, so we’ll continue to bring our dogs here until we have a reason not to. For two dogs staying in the same kennel, we’ve paid $ 62/​night. It’s a little spendy, but I do think they do a good job here, so spending a little more compared to other places is worth it to us.
As part of the boarding package, doggie day care is included. This is great for us, because our dogs love to play with other dogs. (Much better than being locked up in a concrete or dirt dog run all day.) If your dog doesn’t socialize well, this might not be the place for you. (In fact, it probably isn’t, since a socialization interview is required before your dog is allowed to board there.) Also included in boarding is an elevated bed and a bedtime treat, which I think is a Kong filled with peanut butter. I believe food would be provided, but we always opt to bring our own food to avoid the… unpleasant… gastrointestinal effects of switching dog foods.
Current vaccinations are, of course, required — including bordetella within the last 6 months. I’m not sure why that is, considering that our vet gives 1-​year bordetella vaccines, so this can be a pain in the butt if we’re in the middle to end of our yearly vet cycle. However, you can get the vaccine from a feed store for about $ 10 and DIY, but it’s still a hassle and possibly unnecessary. I guess their rationale is «better safe than sorry»?
Camp Bow Wow provides about 10 webcam feeds that you can use to keep an eye on your dog during business hours. You can view them from the website or an iOS app (not sure about Android). The iOS app isn’t great, but it gets the job done. We checked in periodically during our dogs’ first stay just because we could, and the added peace of mind is nice. Webcam-​stalking our dogs and watching them play with other dogs is kind of fun.
The whole theme is a little too cutesy for me, but it seems like it’s targeted at people who would carry their chihuahua in a purse with them everywhere they go. Also, the location is not convenient at all (way out in Catalina), but since we like the place, we’re willing to make the trip (about 35 minutes each way) a few times a year. Their hours are really good (6:30 AM to 7 PM most days), so that makes up for the inconvenience somewhat.

The BEST staff. If you’re considering obedience classes for your pup then go here! The classes are great and they really do help.

I like businesses that take the customer service seriously. Since my last post the employee who offended me called and apologized. That’s not easy to do and I sincerely appreciate it. I just want to be treated like my business matters to a business and the heart felt apology is enough for me to restore my love for this business.

Very Professional and friendly staff. The atmosphere is very welcoming for dogs and pet owners. I was put completely at ease when leaving my dog, Moby, for the first time. The doggie cams are wonderful for owners to view their pets at a glance for that peace of mind. I was so pleased upon picking Moby up after his first boarding experience. Not only was he in great spirits, he was given a report card that told me about his stay and how he behaved and even the names of the dogs that he made friends with. Camp Bow Wow was our rescue dogs first positive interaction with other dogs. Not only did our Moby learn how to play nice with others, I as a new pet owner to a rescue dog, learned so much too! In addition to all these great experiences, I have to add that I love that I can schedule to have my pet bathed and/​or groomed before I pick him up. The groomers are fantastic! This is such a convenient benefit. Such a smooth running ship!
I can’t say enough positive things about Camp Bow Wow!

This place is cute with its camp themed décor. My dog doesn’t care much about décor though… We’ve used them several times and my dog seems to enjoy herself here. I like that the dogs get to play rather than be locked up all day.
The staff are exceptionally disorganized. On more than one occasion I’ve booked a boarding stay and grooming, and they either «forget» or can’t confirm the grooming. I’m not sure if there are actually two businesses here, because they do not seem to communicate at all. (And I’ve heard the groomer yelling at dogs through the closed door while I was in the lobby. Not cool.) I’ve made reservations by phone and they get the dates wrong. I’ve made reservations by email and they get the grooming service wrong. I’ve grown to accept that whatever I reserve, I need to call and confirm… TWICE.
Most recently I tried to make a boarding appointment and was told my dog’s bordetella had expired. I take my dog to the vet regularly and she is up to date on all her shots — believe me, my vet will not pass up an opportunity to charge me for something if she can! I was told that they require bordetella every 6 months, even though my vet says it’s an annual thing. When I asked about their rationale, I was told «Don’t you care about your dog??!»
You know, I’m fine with having a conversation, I’ll gladly listen to a logical explanation, and I’m certainly fine with philosophical differences. But when some dog sitter speaks that way to me, they have lost me as a customer.

I took my pup in for his first grooming and he is a handful, all of the staff came out to greet him and were so helpful and informative and so friendly! He came out beautiful and happy (and tired,)from his day of grooming and I have plans to board him there this summer.

Kelly is a great groomer. I appreciated all the feedback about Bogie she gives me. She is caring and professional.

You know the place is going to be good because they interview your dog for aggression before he/​she can board. I have boarded my dog here the last few times I have been out of town switching over from PetSmart and this place is significantly better. I can check on my phone to see if my dog is okay on the video. Daycare is also included with boarding and the play areas are separated by size and energy level. Other kennels usually includes another charge. Also on the day of check in, I am able to drop him off before work because they open at 6:30AM. Camp Bow Wow is fantastic!

We tried several boarding places before we thankfully found Camp Bow Wow. My dog loves this place. I have done the day camp and boarding for short and long trips. My dog is well treated, has a ton of fun playing with everyone, and I can rest easy knowing he is safe! I am so thankful to have a place like this to watch over my baby when I can’t! The staff also is excellent and you can see how much they love dogs when watching the web cams.

Our five year old Labradoodle has visited many doggie day care facilities when we travel, and this establishment exceeded our expectations. It is the cleanest and best managed day care operation we have ever seen! We appreciated the behavioral assessment prior to her first visit since this indicated that only well socialized and well mannered pups would be accepted. We were greeted every morning by name and our pup happily pulled us to the front door. The staff knew our car and had our pup ready when we returned in the evening with a daily report card and special doggie treat. The owner/​manager, Linda, is highly professional and genuinely concerned with customer satisfaction. She demands the best from her employees and has managed to assemble an exceptionally caring, conscientious crew that exudes professionalism, competency and love for our four-​leggers!
We were thrilled with the grooming! The groomer listened to our preferences and our pup had the best hair cut she has ever received. The groomer took notes prior to the appointment and asked us questions about how we wanted her to look!
The video-​cam allowed us to watch or pup romping and playing, and see the staff interact with her.
We will make this Camp Bow Wow a regular destination.

I’ve visited lots of kennels in Tucson, and most of them are really sketchy with apathetic staff. Camp Bow Wow was very clean, everyone was friendly, and seemed to sincerely like and care about dogs. I like that there aren’t any extra fees for normal things. The kennels are large and look comfortable. Because it is also a doggie day care the dogs don’t sit in their kennels all day just waiting for someone to come take them out.
They do an assessment on every dog before they are accepted, so there are no aggressive dogs. Then the dogs are separated by size and temperament into different indoor/​outdoor play yards. There seemed to be enough staff to actually keep an eye on and interact with the dogs. I also like knowing that everything is on video, and you can even check in on your dog on your smartphone. The prices are completely reasonable for the nice quality of care they provide.
So far I’ve just used the initial free day of daycare, my dog seemed really happy. l feel confident leaving him there for longer.
