APEX MMA opened its doors to the public on September 1^st, 2008. Joey «Boom Boom» and Nicole Rivera, determined couple and MMA practitioners, founded, built, and molded APEX into what it is today with the support of awesome customers and staff. In just a short time, APEX has climbed its way to become a top training facility in the national arena. APEX is home to many elite professional fighters including Joey «Boom Boom» Rivera, Ed «Wild» West, George Roop, Chad «Gravedigger» Griggs, Eddie «Crazyface» Arizmendi, and more great fighters listed on our Team Page.

Business Owner

Joey Rivera is a long time practitioner of the sport, professional competitor, and Head Coach at APEX MMA. Joey holds a 5^th degree black belt in Kajukenbo and a brown belt in Judo. He is 9 – 1 as a Professional MMA fighter, and was a quarter finalist in the UFC’s Ultimate FIghter TV show, Season 16. Joey also is a CFFC 170 lb. Champion, WFF 170 lb. Champion, and is a decorated competitor in Judo and Brazilian Ju Jitsu. Joey has been coaching for 10 years in various martial arts including MMA, Judo, Boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and grappling (ju jitsu).
