A & M Shell

Still the best place to take your car. I thought my van was dead (or dying a quick horrid death) and dropped it off Sunday night without an appointment. I didn’t expect to hear from them until later in the week, but Monday night I was called and my van was ready to go! Although it is dying (a slow death, I probably still have a year or so left) A&M was able to get it up and running for $ 100, where as another shop charged me $ 600 a year ago for the same problem. They will never tell you that you need work done that isn’t necessary, and understand when your goal is to have a safe, reliable vehicle and not a perfect, zero issues show car. I am so grateful for A&M Shell!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful A&M is! From Cathy in the front to Douglas running the show in the back, and of course the owners, Mr. Mendez and his son Arnold, are without a doubt an incredible team. I recommend them highly and as a single female would go nowhere else. I know I’m always going to be taken care of with top notch mechanical skills and customer service.

Awesome service! Came in last minute for an oil change because my appt time wasn’t going to work out as something came up and they were willing to squeeze me in promptly. The sweet lady at the counter was very nice and gave me recommendations on places I could go to get some AC while I wait. They called to make sure I was okay with what they were doing as options were discussed. The staff here are really awesome and accommodating! First class service and will def come here again.

I recently took my car here to be serviced after reading the other great reviews from Unilocal.My experience was no different. After calling around to the other repair shops in the city and being quoted outrageous prices for a timing belt repair, I thought I was doomed and should just scrap the car. However, this was my only means of transportation so I persevered and found A & M Shell. The price I was quoted was actually more than half off the price quoted by many of the other shops where I inquired. I was told exactly how much it would be, and when they found another problem when changing the timing belt, I was called and asked if I wanted to move forward with the repair and told how much the new repair would cost. They do nothing without you knowing the cost and why the repair is needed. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. I will be going here for any future car troubles as long as I am in Tucson. Thanks A & M Shell!

Finally a place that doesn’t make me feel like I’m being taken advantage of! Their quotes for my timing belt replacement was HALF of several other places and they were friendly and thorough. I highly recommend this shop!

If it wasn’t 130 degrees out I would climb the tallest mountain to sing my praises for this company!!!
If you have every had your car fixed at a less than satisfactory place, please go here. The management is friendly, honest, and cares about the customer! My price came out lower than was quoted (which never happens to me at car repair shops), my car is fully functional, they were courteous and did everything within their means to make sure I walked away fully satisfied. This just doesn’t happen anymore these days.
If you want awesome service and a wonderful family business that will have you wanting to invite them to Christmas dinner, A & M Shell is the best kept car repair secret.

I have to continue the trend of five stars here. I have been looking for a good oil change place/​mechanic in Tucson and after a string of bad experiences I finally found this place.
I called Saturday morning to make an appointment for an oil change and they fit me in at 2 pm. I brought my car there and they immediately brought it in to work on. The people were SO incredibly nice and friendly. Arnold, who I spoke to on the phone, was also really nice. Got an oil change and tire rotation for $ 40.
Great place!

The good people at A&M Shell are just that… good people! They are honest, passionate about their work, and compassionate with their customers. Everybody who works there always has a smile (well, I have seen Jay frown a bit). They all follow Arnold’s example… customer service is their business. They have treated me so well that I will never take my car anywhere else for service.

So I pull into the station, and I’m getting out to fill up my car.
And this dude starts to run quickly over to me.
And I go a little on alert. STRANGER DANGER!
And this nice, friendly dude meets me as I get out of the car and says «can I help you?» «Er… just filling up my tank?» «This is full service, would you like me to fill it up for you?»
Oh! They still have full-​service stations? Awesome!
Many times I’ve thought how nice it would be to still have full service… in the evening hours, or when I’m in a hurry, or when I’m dressed nicely. I didn’t need full service this time, but I’m sure there will be a point in the future when I will!

when people ask me to refer an auto shop, i always bring up A&M shell.
they’re friendly, have a great neighborhood feel and keep an exceptionally clean shop/​gas station. i appreciate that jay in the shop has let me watch what he’s doing to my car and had the patience to explain the procedures, too. i have taken my nissan truck and subaru wagon here, all to good effect.

My BMW oil change was going to cost me $ 300.00 at the dealership. I went to A & M Shell, bought my own oil and filter and was charged $ 34.00. They are very knowledgable and fairly priced.
