Sheridan’s Frozen Custard

My husband and I loved Sheridan’s custard — I, the chocolate, he, the vanilla. It was a bit pricey, but generally totally worth it.
We discovered during a pregnancy craving that it had closed, via the signs on the doors and windows. Oh no!

I should have wrote a review for this place much sooner. I have been going here religiously every Sunday since moving to Tucker two months ago. Was attempting to try everything on their menu. I had their red velvet concrete, turtle sundae, raspberry fudge sundae (their sundaes were amazing), as well as a few other varieties. Their chocolate custard ice cream is soo rich and creamy and delicious. Went back this past Sunday with hopes of trying their dirt n worms concrete, and was met with a sign «We are now closed. Thank you Tucker for your support!» Say it ain’t so, Sheridan’s! :(

I really don’t like this place, but I keep going back. sounds pretty stupid, yep it is! I don’t find that the custard has any taste, and perhaps it’s meant for people to load it with toppings, but I’m a toppings free kinda girl that’s serious about her custard, and this place just does NOT do it for me. Being that Rita’s is gone, and there aren’t any more options, I typically come here and get a malt or something small during conehead season. I’m never quite moved, but eh– it’s the neighborhood thing to do, so when in Rome…
I DO love the outdoor only seating, but it’s pretty bad when you want ice cream in the dead of winter and have nowhere to sit inside. Eh. You’re Ok to me Sheridan, I just really don’t enjoy your custard. So sorry :(

I got the red velvet concrete which had raspberries in it. I thought it would be good, but the taste of the raspberries overpowered the red velvet cake which was mixed in so I could barely taste the cake. I recommend that if you order that, get it without the raspberries!
I ordered the dirt and worms on a previous visit and that one was so good! I love that this place is so close to my house. My only complaint it that they need to make smaller sizes! I can never finish the mediums!

Oh… so you know I went back, right? I had the chocolate custard again with cookie dough, caramel and chocolate fudge. DEAD.
And I plan on going back again. O_​o I totally forgot about the
deal for $ 5 for $ 10 worth. hehe.

After hearing all the good reviews, I had to stop by Sheridan’s when I was in the area. A big disappointment. I was hoping for more flavors than just vanilla and chocolate. Really? The custard place back home has plenty more. I decided to get a butterfinger concrete– basically a butterfinger blizzard. I did enjoy how thick the custard was. Bravo, didn’t melt so fast. However, the custard was very egg-​y and it actually unsettled my stomach by the end. Price was very reasonable. I think I’ll just keep going to Bruster’s.

First off, for anyone who knows me, I am unfortunately lactose intolerant, meaning on hot summer days when everyone is gathered at Bruster’s eating away at their ice creams, I’m the one sipping on soda. sigh…
But then I discovered Sheridan’s. and knew, that this was as close to I can get to heaven. Since they have custard I can stomach this (literally). I love the create your own concrete (fresh strawberries, graham crackers, NY cheese cake and walnuts please!!)
The place should be more packed, or maybe I am always craving Sheridan’s at off hours. But I love the fact that they have a drive-​thru (oh how many times I have been here at night in my pj’s!). The service has always been great, patient and helpful.

Maybe I’m just not a custard fan. maybe i ordered the wrong thing… but I didn’t think Sheridan’s was all that great. Got the cookie dough concrete and the server put in wy too much cookie dough. The quality of the cookie dough was the premade little balls, it wasn’t real cookie dough… I felt like i was digging for the custard in a frenzy of little cookie dough comets… custard was good but i just think i had a really bad cookie dough experience.
Service was aloof, not the friendliest… the cashier gave me the most confused look when i presented my phone for the Unilocal check-​in offer. she figured it out after asking a few people but wasn’t too nice about it.

Sheridan’s offers the best frozen custard that I have found to date in the Atlanta area. It’s certainly not the best I’ve had, but it’s good enough to tide me over until my next trip back North.
Food: Sheridan’s specializes in a variety of frozen custard-​based desserts, from cups and cones to milkshakes and concretes. The major flavor options are limited (vanilla or chocolate), but there are at least two dozen different topping choices, including chocolate, candy, and nuts. The one thing I do find odd is that they separate their toppings into «regular» and «premium» on the menu, but they’re all the same price (0.75 cents).
Service: Service is always friendly and quick, regardless of the time of day.
Atmosphere: There is no indoor seating area at Sheridan’s, so the atmosphere is limited. It’s good for a quick dessert after a baseball game or dinner, but don’t expect to sit down anywhere and have an intimate conversation.
Price: Reasonable for the quality of the product. Two scoops of frozen custard with a single topping will run you less than $ 5.00.
Other: My only major complaint with this place is the seating options. There are a few benches and some picnic tables on the outskirts of the property, but there really isn’t an area that’s conducive to actually sitting down and enjoying your frozen custard in peace. Whoever designed the place should have foregone the shrubbery that monopolizes the entire front portion of the building and opted for some tables instead.

OMG! This place kicks ass of other ice cream stands.
It was so HOT on Saturday that a cat would not even climb up on a tin roof; and I wanted something that would not only satisfy my hunger, but also satisfy my sweet tooth and cool me off. We passed by Sheridan’s Frozen Custard and decided to drop in. This place is amazing on a hot summer’s day.
I ordered the Turtle Sundae. It was so freakin’ good. Vanilla custard topped with hot caramel, hot fudge, topped off with roasted peacans, whipped cream and cherries.
I highly recommend dropping into Sheridan’s if you ever out in Tucker. It will be well worth the 1k calories you’ll inhale.

i love the custard at Sheridans. But this review is more of my recent experience there and the customer service I received.
I ordered the Warm Peach Cobbler Sundae. I wasn’t sure if it would come with other toppings as a sundae. It came out in one of their large cups with a portion of cobbler, a small scoop of custard and a big topping of whipped cream. (I’ll upload a picture).
Since I was doing drive through, i didn’t complain about the size on the spot. It half-​filled the container it was put in and cost $ 5. I went home since my wife was waiting for the ice cream.
I took a picture of it when I got home before I touched it, and then found the contact info online to ask the manager if this is what it’s supposed to look like. Basically, he told me a few things: first, the sundae cups had run out, so they were using their concrete cups (which make the sundae look that much smaller); second, that sundaes only have one scoop of custard and not two like the concretes.
After emailing the picture to him, he basically just said that the sundae was correct and he hopes to see me again at the store.
You can judge for yourself on the size of the portion with the picture. But if I’ve taken the time to contact and inquire about the poor portion size, you can at least offer a free something the next time I come in. Maybe I’m expecting too much, but I can’t believe no one else has complained to them about the size of that item. Oh well…
A few days later… the owner contacted me again after seeing I had posted a pic here on Unilocal.He said that he’d give me a freebie now, but that I have to take down my picture of a partially eaten sundae. That’s lame, since he totally agreed that the portion was correct the first time I sent him the picture. Lame!

We’ve been going to Sheridan’s ever since it opened so I can say in all honesty that I’ve never been disappointed and that it always satisfies my desire for something sweet and delicious.
For those who have never had frozen custard, it is a richer, thicker version of ice cream that includes eggs as an ingredient. It’s more well known in the Midwest (if you’ve been to Ted Drews’ in St. Louis or Culver’s in Wisconsin, you know what I mean) and the Northeast, but you can find it here and there in the South. I think they’re based out of Kansas City and I have visited one of their KC locations before.
Sheridan’s offers a variety of treats with two flavors of frozen custard (vanilla and chocolate) as the standards. You can have items such as fruit, candy and/​or nuts mixed with it to form a «concrete» (think of a DQ blizzard but much thicker). One of my favorites is the caramel pretzel crunch.
They also have sundaes, shakes, smoothies and other variations to choose from. We’ve ordered the cookies and cream frozen custard pie before and wow… it’s amazing! The strawberry shortcake sundae is a tasty treat for two (unless you hog it like I tend to do). Seasonal items like the pumpkin pie concrete (YUM!) and the current lemon bar concrete keep the menu from getting boring.
Sheridan’s also consistently scores highly on its health inspections (yes, the nerd in me notices these things at every restaurant I go to) and the staff are always friendly, happy to answer questions. They even have an e-​mail club you can join so you get occasional coupons and news on the latest specials.
So if you find yourself in Tucker, check it out. You’ll probably see me in the drive-​thru. :-)

WHO KNEW CONCRETE COULD TASTE SO GOOD? I love to go to Sheridan’s frozen custard. The place is always clean, friendly, and fun. And, the treats are consistently great — especially the seasonal specialty concretes.
My all-​time favorites include Pumpkin-​pie concrete (Fall) and Red-​velvet-​cake concrete (Winter). Wedding-​cake concrete is my Summer favorite but I think they seem to have that one most anytime of year. Now it’s Spring and I just tried the new Lemon-​bar concrete and it was also excellent!
Everyone I’ve taken to Sheridan’s seems to love it and they all seem to go back again. This is definitely a must-​try dessert place!

I followed my fellow Unilocalers today, and just went to the closest ice cream shop near me. Luckily it was Sheridan’s Frozen Custard, which was flowing with great reviews. I ordered the frozen turtle, a sundae with hot fudge, caramel, fresh pecans and vanilla custard, topped with cherries. This was a work of art and I enjoyed every bit of it!
There is a bench here if you can’t make it to your car, and they also have a drive thru, but no entrance to the store. This sundae cost me just under 5 bucks so it’s got comparable prices. I highly recommend giving them a shot!

Needless to say, any frozen or sweet confection is on my list to try. Well, I tried Sheridan’s and… the new obsession begins. Can I just tell you that the Razzle Dazzle is the closest thing to God I’ve seen on this planet? Ok maybe that is a bit dramatic but still.
The texture of frozen custard from Sheridan’s is unlike any specimen I’ve ever consumed. Creamy, dreamy, plush, delightful and so fulfulling are the first words that come to mind… Add to that fresh, giant and sweet raspberries and some of the thickest and dreamiest hot fudge this side of Willy Wonka’s river and you will have one of the most decadent and breathtaking confections ever!
The folks that work there are always super pleasant, there is great music playing, the place is neat and clean and the prices are reasonable!
Gotta run, heading to Sheridan’s for my 5^th time this week…

I was excited to check out this place from seeing all the great reviews. I ventured out with my two nieces for some custard dessert and was rather disappointed. It’s not like the custard from the north like I was used to.
Upon reading the reviews, I was thinking, «Finally a place in the south with a variety of frozen custards!» but to my disappointment, they only offer two custard flavors: vanilla and chocolate. Then, they have a variety of toppings and mix it in a blender with the custard to get the different flavors.
I ordered the almond mocha and the almonds were rather stale. The custard melted really fast which was another downfall. This place is okay if you’ve never tried frozen custard before, but I probably won’t be coming back.
I’ve been spoiled in the north with phenomenal custard and this place just doesn’t compare. I’ll stick to the froyo joints (plus it’s healthier) lol.

I first had frozen custard in a small town outside Indianapolis, where the whole place seemed like a Mellencamp video come to life. In a town that All-​American, there wasn’t much to do. Until I found Ritter’s frozen custard, that is. The stuff was so heavenly, I ate there every night I was in town.
So when Sheridan’s opened up in Tucker, where I was working at the time, I couldn’t have been happier. Tired of eating at suburban fast food joints for lunch, there were some days where I’d just go get a Concrete from Sheridan’s. It was almost as good as Ritter’s and better than most of the crap food in Tucker circa 2005.
When I stopped working in the area, I stopped going to Sheridan’s, but recently returned after seeing in-​laws in the area. After the first few spoonfuls, I began wondering why I hadn’t come back sooner. Cause the custard was as rich, creamy and fresh as I remembered. And the mix-​ins for my Concrete were equally fresh, certainly not the stale bits of candy you get from Marble Slab and other places. Without exaggeration, I can say you’ll never want a DQ Blizzard when you can have one of Sheridan’s Concretes.
But tonight, when my wife and I made another visit, I found my new favorite: my wife’s Royal Turtle sundae. It consisted of super creamy vanilla custard topped with hot fudge and caramel sauces, toasted pecans, and a couple of cherries. While that may sound rather pedestrian, I can assure you it wasn’t. After having a taste of it, it made me regret the delicious Concrete I’d ordered. It was that good. In fact, if you don’t like it, there’s probably something wrong with you.
So there you go, a worthy reason to go to Tucker. And if you already happen to be there, it’s definitely worth a stop. Expect a long line, slightly inept service and some of the best soft serve you’ve ever had. No lie.

Simply the best I’ve ever had. Period. Fresh. Very Flavorful. Simple flavors and yet not empty. Creative options at a very reasonable price. It reminds me of the 70s-​early 80s version of Carvel ice cream. Made fresh everyday.
I simply don’t understand why they don’t have more locations. It blows the competition away.

My friend Ginny first introduced me to this place about 3 years ago and I had completely forgotten about it until today when I happened to be in the area. I was making some marketing calls at nearby businesses and I decided to stop in for a quick snack.
I had a «Pumpkin Concrete» which is a delicious blend of custard and fresh pumpkin pie. YUMMY YUM YUM! It was sooo good and I think I might be addicted. See you there tomorrow!
