History

Established in 1988.

In 1988, Eldercare Systems began offering care management adult daycare and soon expanded the service to include homecare. The daycare operation was closed in 2003 and the 50&Better Center was opened to serve the Tucker community. Ellie Schmittinger, owner and founder, has been in the field of aging since 1979 and became a caregiver in her own home to both her mother and husband from January of 2004 until October of 2010. She is proud to have kept them both at home avoiding nursing home placement; they both died at home as the had requested. After that personal experience, she feels that she has learned the business from both sides and brings much of that to the way Eldercare operates its business, especially with regard to couples and multi-generational households.
