Living in New York and Philly for 6 years, I might not be an expert at pizza and cheesesteak, but I am not a noob either. I have only tried their pizza so far, and HOLYSMOKES it is the real deal. What sets this place apart as a real New York style pizza joint is their crust. The crust is the perfect balance of chewy and crisp. The inner thin side is slightly chewy while the panside crust is like a crispy rind. SOFREAKINGGOOD. As for the décor, it is dated but clean. Actually looks like genuine New York pizza places that have not been ultra gentrified and real estate developed to look like a crappy new McDonald’s. If you want gourmand pizza, go to one of the top rated ultra fancy pizza places in SE Portland. For genuine, delicious, traditional New York pizza, look no further. This place is a Tualatin gem.

As I have now tried all the pizza places in Tualatin, can say the this is the best in town. It’s still greasy and over prized but it’s the best option when you don’t want a national chain. Also they have some great sandwiches and fries too.

absolutely the best pizza we have had since we moved here from New York. the food here really makes me feel like we are having a delicious piece of home. I couldn’t recommend this place enough for anyone on the west coast who wants to have a little taste of New York or any New York transplants like me and my husband who are missing a little bit of real pizza and hero’s.

Excellent Philly’s and Ruben! Pizza is also super good! If you like spicy stuff, the spicy mayo for the sandwiches is really good! Nice staff, clean restaurant. We will definitely be back again soon!

Wow what a Cheesesteak! I’ve been meaning to come by for the longest time and finally got around to it. Little traditional pizza shop in Tualatin that turns out some amazing sandwiches. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it didn’t disappoint. A baguette roll stuffed with steak, onions, peppers, mushrooms and provolone. Best part? It’s a foot long! Guaranteed to make you full off of utter deliciousness. The pizza looked pretty good. They were boxing up some deliveries while I waited for my sandwich. I’ll give it a shot as well as every other sandwich on the menu!

For the price, I really thought it would be better. Honestly, I had been craving a reuben since seeing them at an airport eatery in San Francisco on my way to Oregon, and when I found this place on Unilocal,I thought I’d try it on my way back to the Portland airport. The food at New York Ruben’s is just as expensive as it was in the San Francisco airport, and it didn’t seem better at all. The reuben was like a sub with the addition of hot pickles – it wasn’t a traditional reuben sandwich and that alone was disappointing. I had to put my own thousand island dressing on it, which wasn’t the best in my opinion either. I also ordered fries, but I didn’t like the batter on them – I’d rather they just served natural cut fries, crispy with salt. The place was pretty empty, and I can understand why it wasn’t busy. However, there was a dirty table there the entire time I was in the restaurant. I could see that only one guy was working, but it was a bit disgusting. I’d recommend finding another place for sandwiches – there has to be somewhere better in Tualatin.

Went at 11:10am to grab a sandwich for lunch because I work nearby. Door was still locked so I knocked and the guy made eye contact with me. He was helping a customer who had come in the entrance on the other side of the building, so I waited. After the customer left, the employee picked up the phone and started having a conversation. I walked around the block to the other side of the building and came in. I know that restaurants get busy, I’ve worked in them… but it’s 10 mins after you opened and there was only 1 other guy in the store. who was leaving. Open the door so I can get in dude… Come on. Got an Italian sub. It was just salami, cheese, raw white onion, and jarred hot peppers. Not very good. And for $ 9 I expected a little more. At least it was big. Better off going to new seasons or jersey mikes, both across the street. Service– 1⁄5 Price– 1⁄5 Food quality– 2⁄5 Food quantity– 4⁄5

I got a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. I expect plenty of meat and onions. This was a revisit of the old Wendy’s commercial«where is the beef!!!» and onions. The Costco frozen philly had more toppings and tasted better. I won’t be back to try anything else it was so bad. They do serve a variety of other things.

I used to come here on my lunch breaks all the time. They have pizza by the slice which is so good. It’s got a great crispy crust, you can’t go wrong with any kind. They’ll heat up the slices for you to-go or there’s always seating available. They of course have full pizzas to order and salad. They also have sandwiches. Check this place out if you’re looking for somewhere new in the area.

So I’ve been around long enough now to sniff out the better NY pizza in town(see Fino’s, Escape From NY, etc.) and I did have a bad experience involving old, cold pizza on one of my last visits so I’m docking Reuben’s a star. I haven’t been to Tualatin in a couple of years, but if this place is still open I’m sure it remains your best pizza option there.

Honestly their food is delicious. If only their employees weren’t so rude and dull. Maybe if they were a little more accommodating to their customers they wouldn’t have lost one of their few regulars. A 20 minute delivery was dragged out to an hour. The owner of the shop told me to stand outside and look for the delivery girl in a silver or blue van. Very helpful. And when the food finally did arrive. The delivery girl had the nerve to tell me «next time why don’t you just come in»

Came here today with my boyfriend for lunch after reading reviews on Unilocal! The woman at the front was extremely nice and friendly! We ordered a cheesesteak, meatball wedge, and a slice of pizza. She suggested we get the lunch special which included half sandwich, fries and a drink. The sandwiches alone(not in the special) are a foot long! So I was happy she made the suggestion! Both sandwiches were amazing! I got the meatball sub which was just perfect. The marinara alone was just to die for. My boyfriend loved his cheesesteak and the pizza slightly reminded me of the pizza I got in Vegas at New York New York… Sooo you know it’s good! Will definitely be back!!!

I have been back here about 3 more times after my initial visit. I ordered a large pie for pickup. I was told it would be ready in about 20 minutes. When I arrived the pizza was in it’s box on a heater. The box was so hot I could barely hold it. I got home in about ten minutes. The pizza was already cold. Hmmm, after looking at the pie I could see this was NOT a fresh made pie but one that had been sitting out most of the day and re heated. Are you kidding me? I’ve been eating real ny pizza most of my life since I had my first slice back in Brooklyn NY in the late 60’s. What a damn shame, no wonder the place is never busy. The pizza when made fresh is actually very good but I will not be back. SMH!

Ruben’s is awesome. Excellent NY style pizza — huge and cheesy and just the right amount of toppings. One piece is enough for a modest appetite and two pieces is enough for just about everyone else(and bonus — you can eat the pizza just like you would in NY — folding a slab in half and going to town!) I’ve also had several of their sandwiches, and never been disappointed. The Philly cheese steak is fabulous, the Ruben is awesome, the eggplant parm rocks. Eat here if you are in Tualatin. Certainly eat here if you in Tualatin and considering PieOlogy. Ruben’s is a local, non-franchise, awesome pizzeria. Great to support a small business that makes such excellent food!

This is the place to go for pizza at lunch. Big fat floppy slices– lots of garlic and herbs. I’m a cheese pizza person and their cheese slices are just perfect. I can’t finish 2 of them. Honestly I have never had anything but the cheese pizza and salad. The salads are also really good and fresh with lots of toppings. Highly recommend Rubens.

I thought I had updated my review a long time ago. It is true, on my first few visits the pizza looked sad. It was sad I wasn’t eating it! I have ordered many slices over the last year and they are almost allays tasty and fresh. One night I went it kind of late and the slices looked a tad bit old. I was hesitant to order, but asked for two peperoni, two cheese, and two of the veggie. After what seemed like a long wait to warm some slices the owner brought out a freshly baked pizza with a few slices of each style I ordered. That is great service. Now I don;t expect that ever. I would never ask for that. but fuck me if I wasn’t very appreciative. That had been a shit day and he brightened it right up.
