Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge

We have a four month old husky mix and we were unable to bring her to the house we were staying in. We were taken on a thorough tour of the facility which was clean and well thought out.
The dogs can play outback in a supervised area
The cats have a little area for themselves
I would bring my dog back here without any hesitation. She actually was happy to go back when we took her out one day. I think that says a lot

Found this place on Unilocal and could not be happier! Called on a Friday afternoon and although they were very busy, they were able accommodate taking in our dog for day care the very next day. They were so kind answering all of my questions over the phone and made me feel at ease bringing Bailey there the next day sight unseen. When we came to drop her off everyone was so excited to meet her and the place was extremely clean. When we picked up Bailey she was exhausted and happy! They even took pictures that we could look at on Facebook which was such a sweet touch. Will definitely bring her back and recommend them to anyone!

Our Koda is only a five months old frenchie puppy. He just had a minor surgery last week. Steve and other staffs were extremely helpful in setting us up and taking care of our puppy. He came home exhausted and happy. Koda had a blast so we are very very happy as well. Looking forward to come back!

These guys saved us from having to drive all the way home since our hotel changed their pet policy. I called last minute during the holidays and they were able to accommodate my Frenchie. He had his own suite with a TV and a sofa. He spent 2 nights and when we would pick him up during the day he seemed happy and rested. Can’t say enough about the staff and they showered my little guy with love. Will most definitely be back.

What a place! We dropped her off to try it out overnight because our new ski lease doesn’t allow dogs. Our dog Daisy absolutely loved staying here! The owner, Steve was extremely helpful in explaining the services and offerings which made us very comfortable leaving our pup in his staff’s care! You can even «break them out» meaning you can have in and out privileges allowing you to check your animal in and out of the lodge anytime if you want to take them somewhere and return them!!! This is great for us when we are going to be around town and want to spend time with the pup!
She got so much attention and love and came home exhausted which means she received all the play time a 2yr old lab can handle! Can’t wait to come back for our next weekend in Tahoe!!!

Good, but expensive. I have used this place many times without any problems, except for a lost blanket. Did I mention it was expensive?

The staff was extremely helpful when we booked, explored our options, but then later needed to cancel because of an emergency. Based on their phone service, I will definitely consider them when we return to Tahoe/​Truckee. We live in the SF area and have a dog that sometimes needs to travel with us. I’m only giving 4 stars because we’ve not actually had our dog there yet, but have had multiple conversations with staff including Steve, Cassidy, and some another female.

I was so impressed with this establishment, especially the Operations Mgr Cassidy. We usually find someone to watch our small Tibetan Terrier/​Shihtzu mix (Tashi) but we needed their services. We took our dog out for long hikes during the day, and used the lodge as the evening doggie care. We booked a premium room since we’ve never taken our dog to a kennel before and he was adopted from a shelter. We got the loveliest, most detailed report and how he ate, got along with people and other dogs, and behaved on the first night. We were like nervous parents sending their kid to camp and the staff (especially Cassidy) got that and was extremely patient and thorough. We definitely recommend this place and will likely use their services again. People there seem to use it a lot for doggie care during the work day, but also for extended stay. Everything was clean, smelled clean, not crowded — lots of outdoor play space and appropriate play group time.

Actually surprised that the average is only 3.5 stars here as our experience was nothing less than stellar. Nice facility, friendly, caring staff and excellent customer service. I like the various options available depending on your dogs needs.

So thankful to have a safe, secure and home like setting to bring our Cooper to every week! He loves all the staff and we are so comfortable dropping him off for his weekly day care play dates and the occasional overnights. Our pets are so very important to us and you make us feel like you honestly feel the same way. Couldn’t think of taking him anywhere else!

I have three dogs. I paid for a room with a tv and extra treats. When I picked my dogs up they were sitting in a dark room no tv and urine soaked beds. WAS NOT HAPPY! They did offer a small amount of money back but that does not cut it! If I had not insisted on walking back to get my dogs no one would have known the difference. Just how long did my dogs sit in urine? How long were they left in a dark room that was half the size of the room I was showed that they would be in? The one bed was so wet that when I picked it up the urine streamed down to the floor. I would love to give them the same treatment they gave my dog!

Upon arriving to this facility I was a bit skeptical because it was wedged in between a appliance store and auto body shop… I was greeted warmly by the staff and was taken on a tour of their facility, as we walked out to their outdoor play area, the auto body shop was shooting paint thinner fumes out and directly into the play area of the dogs (not good for humans or dogs to be breathing in), the people that were working at the shop had these huge masks covering their faces. (Sighn that no one should be breathing that in) that right away made my mind of not boarding with them. As we were leaving we drive threw the back because the kids stayed in the car and wanted to see were all the dogs play, as we drive by Their was a employee (female with long red hair) smoking in the play area with the dogs!!! What were to happen if a dog fight broke out??? Are you going to risk dropping you’re cigaret and possibly giving a dog the chance to consume it or are you going to hold it and risk burning a dog with it while you separate them??? I can only imagine what els is wrong with this place if their employees are smoking in the play are with the dogs! It must have poor ownership and horrible management. They are truly two faced because they look awsome at first and everyone is nice but I got a peek at their second face! Ended up boarding with country k-​9 they were the best at what they do over there. I feel bad for all the people that board at truckee tahoe pet lodge, I specially feel horrible for the dogs that stay there!!!

We have three Shetland Sheepdogs and after poor experiences with pet sitters decided to board our furry children while we were away for two weeks. Upon a tour of the facilities, we were awed by the cleanliness and loving attitude of the staff. We reserved the Old Greenwood suite since it was spacious enough for all three to stay together and purchased the Olympic play packages. When we arrived to pick them up, they were all bathed, happy and better behaved at home. This is a quality operation and I would not hesitate to board my pet here. Now we now have our dogs groomed at the Pet Lodge and that experience has been excellent and reasonably priced. We no longer need to drive to Pet Smart in Reno for grooming!

We reserved a seven day stay for our 9 year old Shih-​Tzu Spike who had never been boarded. He is a special needs dog who has a brain tumor and requires phenobarbital at exactly 6 A.M. and 6 P.M. to prevent seizures. Steve and Garnett assured me that their was staff on hand that accommodate us.
The impression I got from the staff is that they love their jobs and that the pets come first. We received a call one afternoon that Spike had run out of one of his medications. They were willing to substitute an alternative which demonstrated the staff was on top of things.
We had experienced car problems on the way up so we did not arrive until after 7 P.M. which made their extended hours on Friday another plus.
Special thanks to Garnett. This was the first time Spike had been boarded snd she was very helpful in helping us decide what kind of activities, diet would be best for Spike.
We arrived to pick Spike up a week later and he was a very happy dog. You could tell he had been well taken care of.

My dogs have been coming here for a few years now when we come to Tahoe to snowboard. The booking process for daycare was really easy and they even called for me to get the updated shot records from our vet. That was one less thing I had to remember to do and I really appreciated it.
The hours are great (Friday pick up time was 7:30pm!!) and when we picked up our «kids», they were happy and then promptly fell asleep. That always happens when they have a fun day. :)

We reserved a doggy daycare spot for our day at Squaw. The reservation process was easy, and the staff were very nice. When I called, they even told me about a coupon in the free local Sierra Sun newspaper for a FREE day of daycare if you’re a first-​time customer. I was very impressed that they told me about this coupon. As a result, we were able to get a day of daycare for our dog & paid exactly $ 0 for it!
Upon arrival, we were offered a tour of the facility but declined it due to time constraints. The daycare setup consisted of supervised playgroups in the morning and afternoon, with a midday siesta/​naptime from 12−2pm. When we returned to pick up our pup, she seemed happy and content. Despite a day of rain and snow, she seemed surprisingly clean still!

I really like this place! The location is super convenient for those hitting the slopes in Tahoe and their hours are also great. Everybody is friendly and our dog Maui is always pretty happy when we get there, which shows that she also likes the place.
We left Maui at Truckee-​Tahoe Pet a few times already, for both boarding and daycare. So far I have no complaints at all. From getting reservation and other stuff done online to sending her vaccination info, everything was super smooth.

We take our dog here when we drive over from San Francisco to go skiing. She is always tuckered out and well groomed when we pick her up. Nice to know she’s taken care of and close by while we hit the slopes!

We dropped our English Bull Terrier off this past weekend since the Resort at Squaw Valley didn’t allow pets — we were very satisfied with our decision. I was happy that they accepted Ty, since the Bully breeds are discriminated against by so many places. He was welcomed, and they assured me that he would be allowed to interact with the other dogs.
I feel bad that so many reviewers gave negs due to the pricing structure. It suited us fine. We dropped him off on Friday night, and picked him up Sunday morning, and were allowed to «upgrade» his play package for Saturday only. Makes sense to me… why pay for services on Friday and Sunday, that would not be used? Also — wake up people, this is 2013, shouldn’t we support small business that are trying to make profits? Also — why complain that is in an industrial area? Also makes sense. We drove around back to check out the play area — and saw the staff with the dogs outside — so they are doing their jobs!
Ty was happy to go in and happy when we picked him up. We though it was pretty cute that he received a report card for his visit! We are looking forward to our ski trip next year, and will definitely use Truckee-​Tahoe Pet Lodge again.

My wife and I pre called to set aside a couple of spaces for our beloved pets for the evening. The person on the phone was pleasant and we were already in the system.
We arrived at the location for the first time and it is set in an industrial park, sandwiched in between an appliance repair shop and what looked like a utility company yard. We walked in (w/​two cats) and i was silently struck by the sound of barking dogs coming from the back (no problem if you are dropping off your dog). We were greeted by two young women, the blonde was the one that chose to help us. That is where our experience quickly took a turn.
I see myself as a patient, friendly, but down-​to-​business fella. I try not to be affected by others attitudes and moods. But hands down, in front of us was one of the most unpleasant individuals I have ever come across. Snide, unhelpful, unwelcoming, and simply put — rude.
We came in with our pet records but the ones we immediately found in our folder were expired. Instead of a helpful attitude, we received annoyance and curt response. This was about the time I noticed the blaring music coming from a half a foot in front of me from the computer speakers. We all like music but her attitude plus this music shouted her lack of professionalism.
Near the end of this exchange a fellow walked in behind us. At this point I am on the phone, trying to get records from my vet. I have been on hold for five minutes as she is blankly starring at us. She has not yet acknowledged the gentleman in queue. This goes on for a couple more minutes and my wife finally turns to him and politely says «you can go ahead», where he is finally acknowledged. After being on hold for what seemed like an eternity, I turned to my wife and said let’s just take the cats to our regular boarder’s sister location in Sacramento.
Bottom line, even if we had immediately found the right paperwork, I would not of felt good about leaving our pets here. You want to feel secure about where you leave your beloved friends. The reception alone spoke volumes. We will find another place we can trust our animals to.
RESPONSE TO STEVE:
My wife and I absolutely understand the requirement to provide proper documentation of vaccination. In the past, we simply have our vet send information to our regular boarders directly. We should have done this in advance this time. We were told by reception to bring our paperwork in (no problem). Probably just a bad set of circumstances. A portion of our records slipped out of our folder, and we encountered the wrong associate for the circumstances. In retrospect, I was livid after the experience and colorful in my description, but I assure you accurate. I am sure your facility is just fine behind the counter. Our complaint was in regard to reception. I hope you understand our sentiment. I am sure plenty of your customers are absolutely happy with your services. We wish you the best.
