Cosmo is an excellent boot fitter. My wife had a new pair of Fisher Vacum’s and he tuned those in for her perfectly. They fit her like a glove. I needed a couple of adjustments on the toe and heel of my boots and got both of those dialed in. The only bummer was that he forgot about the hair dryer heating up my boot and it inadvertently melted my power strap. Not a big deal because they are easy to replace but he does get distracted a bit at times. Otherwise, as far as small shops go, you can’t do any better.

If your ski boots are hurting you, you have to go and see Cosmo! My shins were killing me and he doctored my ski boots up and now they are perfect! This man really knows what he is doing and has all the tools to fix whatever your problem is!

I was really looking forward to a boot fitting here based on all the great reviews. Apparently, this place doesn’t need my business. I left several messages before I finally got a call back and made an appointment. A week later, when I arrived at the scheduled time, no one was there. I waited 30 minutes and still no one. I left another message asking for another appointment, thinking maybe there had been a misunderstanding. Now a week later there has been no response, no explanation, no apology.
Cosmo may have a gift with boot fittings but he lacks common courtesy.

Cosmo is a brilliant man. My feet and ankles are as weird and angular as they come. He took my painful boots and within an hour they fit like the best boots money can buy. I highly recommend you consult with Cosmo before you buy a pair and if you’ve already made a purchase go see him to get them to fit.

Wow! Cosmo knows feet and he is an artist. I bought a pair of Fischer Thermofits. Just looking at my stance Cosmo made the canting adjustments that are helping me make better carving turns. Just be prepared to spend a bunch of time at his shop. He is an artist and artistry takes time!

They do not keep regular hours.

Pat is a boot genius. I was referred to him by friends who are on the National Ski Patrol. That was a good enough endorsement for me to give him a try. I have now purchased custom footbeds and ski boots from him. I never knew my boots could be so comfortable AND deliver the power I need to ski fast.
Most impressively, Pat knows feet as well as he knows ski boots. I have had a problem with odd foot cramping for years. I have seen multiple docs, including orthopedic specialists and podiatrists. No one could figure it out. Pat took one look at my foot and literally put his finger on the problem. Now I know what the issue is – and how to solve it.
One tip: be sure to make an appointment and allow plenty of time for Pat to work his magic. The place can get crazy busy on weekends or when the snow is good.

Cosmo has a fantastic reputation, and was recommended to us by a co-​worker who was fitted by Cosmo a number of times when he lived in the Tahoe area. I made an appointment to see Cosmo Fri afternoon for a new boot fitting. He rescheduled our appointment at the last minute, due to a unplanned family commitment. However, when we arrived for our appointment the next day the shop was dark with a note that he wouldn’t be back until the next morning at 10 am. I called him, and still haven’t received a response. Perhaps there was a family emergency or I suppose he’s busy enough that he doesn’t need our business. We were incredibly disappointed at the unprofessional behavior and of course even more disappointed that we returned home without new boots.

Cosmo knows his stuff. I have VERY wide calves, and can not fit into any brand of regular ski boots. Cosmo spent a good amount of time with me and fitted me just right. To be honest, I was a bit leery after the fitting, thinking that the fit was too small. But he strongly suggested I go for a few runs & try them out, and he was absolutely right. I wore my boots all season last year, and never had to return for ajustments. They were perfect! I also had Cosmo adjust my snowboard boots, and again, he was GREAT. We’re lucky to have someone as skilled as Cosmo in our community.

After 7 visits for adjustment, the boots I bought here still cause me a lot of pain. Initially, Cosmo was trying to get it right. Eventually, it seemed like he just gave up. He was never willing to properly address heel pain. One visit, he waved his «magic hammer» over the boots and told me that can help. Not a place I would recommend.

Gotta give a shout out to Cosmos Footwerks in Truckee. My ski boots were stolen last year (that I bought and had custom fitted from Cosmo) and he just majorly hooked me up. I was already a fan after my last experience there and after today I will never go anywhere else. Thanks Cosmo!

Cosmo helped me get my alpine touring and telemark boots fitted during the winter of 2012 – 13. He gave me a great deal, spent a long time working on the fit, and was incredibly knowledgeable. I really appreciated his help. I was really impressed with his skill. Thank you!

Cosmo is a great guy and true craftsman. He’s correctly fitted me into 2 pairs of ski boots (downhill/​resort and backcountry) as well as a pair of hiking boots purchased elsewhere. I am extremely satisfied with his customer service and craftsmanship.
Recently, I took a pair of heavily used «climbing skins» to Cosmo, and he successfully replaced several rivets, and used his heavy duty sewing machine to fix a tear in the tail of the skin. Cosmo gets the job done right, and is a great resource to the Reno-​Tahoe-​Truckee community.
I also here he does a great job at sharpening knives and cleaning chimneys and air ducts.

Cosmo knows his stuff. His entire focus is on finding the right boot and fit for you. It is a completely uplifting experience. I was there yesterday for the first time, looking for new boots and walked out with new footbeds and adjusted old boots. I’ll be back.
Just be sure to book an appointment. That way his time is devoted to you, whether it is for a new boot or for adjustments to old ones.

I stopped by his shop with some worn boot liners to ask about replacing them with Intuitions. I didn’t have an appt, and my young daughter was in the car, so I didn’t have a lot of time. Here was what happened:
1. Cosmo fit me in between several other people despite the fact that he was busy
2. He let me know that my liners were not top quality and were packed out, but instead of just telling me the problem, he grabbed some much better new liners that came from another boot & put them in
3. The replacement liners were MUCH better
4. The charge for the replacement liners was $ 50 instead of new Intuition liners (which I was asking for), which would have been over $ 200
5. The entire process took less than 10 minutes
6. I had forgotten my wallet — Cosmo just said «Ski in them, then pay me.»
So — he understood the problem, knew the details of my boots, was willing & able to come up with a reasonably priced alternative, and let me pay him later.
Frankly, I was blown away. I didn’t need extensive bootwork, he just gave me what I needed & sent me on my way. I will be back to visit Cosmo for sure & will recommend him to my friends.

Cosmo was fantastic. My fiancé and I were in town for a few days and he squeezed us in. He has an incredible passion for his craft and the custom fitting went really smoothly. On top of his expertise he is a wonderful person.

I am a Tahoe local and long time skier. I have been fitted at Starthaus and at Snowind, both always listed in the top boot fitters nationwide.
Today, we decided to look for some boots for my girlfriend, a beginning skier who has been renting. Gave Cosmo a call and he was available, so we headed over to Truckee. I can’t say enough about the service and, even more surprisingly, the value we received for our money. She ended up with a pair of boots and footbeds she loved, fit perfectly, at a good price, and total confidence that Cosmo will stand behind them in the future. I was so impressed that I may go get a new pair myself.
Don’t waste your time elsewhere. I’ve been to them all and this was by far the best experience!

Not even remotely surprised to find that Cosmo has all five-​star reviews. I am a relatively new skier and have been renting boots in various brands & sizes for a couple of years, but never found ones that I could really ski comfortably in (and most were super painful). A hardcore skier friend who had also had a lot of trouble finding comfortable, well-​fitting boots recommended going to Cosmo’s at least to have him look at my feet & make some recommendations for what might work.
We stopped by after half a day of skiing on the off chance that he was in & barely caught him. He was starting to close up for the day but happily agreed to stay open & fit me. He started by taking several different measurements of my feet & the flexibility in my ankles both weighted & unweighted, then said he thought he had a pair that would be a good fit. After doing a little more measuring of my feet in the shells and determining that they would work, he heated up the foam liners & then had me put them on to mold them to my feet, then added a heel lift & a pair of Superfeet orthotics to customize the fit even more. Once the fitting was done & I had them on, he had me clip in to a pair of bindings bolted to a platform to see how they flexed when I leaned forward, sideways, etc. Finally, he used a laser to check how my knees aligned with the boots when I moved, & said that I might need a slight adjustment on the right side to deal with that, but I would probably have to ski in them first & see how it felt.
The only charges for all of this were the price of the boots (discounted, since they were last year’s model & it was the end of the season anyway) & the orthotics. All of the boot work & the rest of the customization was included, and he said that if as I skied in them I found they needed any additional work or re-​fitting, it would all be complimentary.
Cosmo has clearly been doing this a LONG time & has an absurd amount of knowledge about feet, boots, & how the two work together. I would highly recommend him to anyone, particularly if you have weird foot issues or have otherwise had trouble finding a comfortable, well-​fitting boot.

Cosmo is the best! I’m an expert skier, a former racer and now prefer skiing out of bounds. A good fitting boot is THE most essential equipment, far away more than any ski or ski outfit. Over the 40 years I’ve been skiing, I have not met anyone with more knowledge of the human foot & what a good ski boot fit is like and that includes several good orthopedic surgeons.
What makes Cosmo great is his personal tireless efforts centered on the individual. Where other shops may have 2 or 3 boot fitters, with Cosmo Footwerks, Cosmo IS IT — he is a craftsman. So if there is a line of people waiting to see him and he is pressed for time or has other priorities, then someone’s service may take a hit. But if you schedule with him, be on time & be patient you will come away with happy ski feet — priceless!
More than anyone I known in this sport, Cosmo stands behind his work. You can come back as many times as needed to get your fit right. Not only does he continue to work with you but he remembers your particulars, even if it was some time ago.
Pat is a true gem in the ski world. He does great work, charges a fair price to all (not just locals). If you go to see him, call ahead and scheduled a time when he’s not so busy. If necessary take a day during the week, you will enjoy the shop and Truckee when it is not so crowded with weekenders.

I am an aggressive skier with lots of foot issues who has been buying ski boots and having them fitted by Cosmo for about the past 20 years. Until then I had suffered with discomfort, shin bang bruising, and foot/​calf agony on the slopes. Cosmo spends the time with you to select the right boot for your foot and fit it perfectly, taking into consideration all the variables that go into that fit. He guarantees his work so you can come in time and time again to tweak them if necessary. He is a true expert whose knowledge of foot physiology and anatomy enable him to make you and your feet happy. And, for the record, he has quit drinking.

Cosmo is brilliant– 4^th generation boot guy starting with his great grandfather making shoes in Italy. He understands feet, he is an avid skier and totally gets it. Even if your feet are «perfect,» having a pair of boots custom fitted makes all the difference in the world. And going to see someone who is knowledgeable, thoughtful, takes his time, and is passionate about his subject is such a rarity these days! GO SEE COSMO!!!
