I love this store. Whenever I go to Truckee I must stop by… there’s always some new kitchen gadget I MUST have. Well I used to MUST have. Now that I don’t cook that often, I have more gadgets then I know what to do with. Although every once in awhile something new appears in my cabinets? Wonder how that happens! lol They’ve got great gifts, cookware, gadgets, gourmet foods and more… don’t forget to check out the upstairs.

I came in here to get a gift for my mother for taking care of our chicken while we were on vacation. I was looking for something out of the ordinary, because she already has a million things. But, alas I found something she didn’t have. Not only is the store beautiful, but the service was completely top notch. I told them it was a gift and they offered to wrap it and they put a nice ribbon on it and a seal(sticker) from their store. My expectations were exceeded. I got a cute little Truckee ornament to take home for our Christmas tree too. Parking is paid only in front of the store, but if you go down Donner Pass Road after the downtown portion, there is a free parking lot.

Ditto to all the wonderful things people have said. I also want to add that we have asked their advice on pans a couple of times and they give great advice. For example: we went in to buy a griddle for our new rental with a weeny stove and told them we needed something that would work with said stove now as well as the nice stove in the next place. She asked us details about use, etc. and pulled 3 options out and gave us the pros and cons of each as well as personal experiences and customer feedback. It was the same thing a year ago when we bought an egg pan. Definitely worth the small local store premium. They also carry a nice variety of brands, unlike the box stores the carry only the well known huge suppliers, they have popular high end suppliers, basic brands and independent makers that produce quality but not enough quantity to sell in big box stores. This was on a Thursday morning so not admittedly not a high traffic time, but definitely great, but not pushy, service.

I had a great time with friends shopping at the Cooking Gallery in Truckee. But I then proceeded to leave my shopping bag with items from the Cooking Gallery(and other stores) in Truckee on the seat outside the store. I drove 2 hours away to my home before I realized it. When I called the store I was elated to find that a good samaritan had taken my bag into the store. I asked if they would ship me my items if I paid them and they said that they would absolutely ship them to me BUT they would NOT accept payment. I am very grateful to the good samaritan and to the Cooking Gallery. Good people like this make the world a better place to live in. FYI… My friend Hope recommended the herb scissors and they are fabulous!!! They have a lot of fun little gadgets and goodies! Thank you for the incredible customer service! I will be back! :)

Went to in to check this store out, and came out with a bagful of foodie goodies! There was so many great cooking appliances, nicknacks, linens, etc… AMAZING! And the owners are friendly, knowledgeable… and even hilarious when you get them going! What a wonderful cooking store. I purchased some summer wine glasses that you freeze — what an awesome idea to keep my Chardonnay chilled on a hot day. I hope they open another one in Reno… we could definitely use a beautiful store like this in Downtown Reno or South Creek. Thanks Michael. Love Cooking Gallery

Love this store and staff! Definitely on the pricer side, but it is a local run business abd that is expected. They always have what I need and if not will order it for me. Of course I also always find things I don’t need, but want! They also gift wrap and have registries so it makes shopping super easy. Anytime I am running errands in downtown Truckee I always pop in.

SInce it’s the holudays, this place is packed to the gills with both product and shoppers. All sorts of knock knacks, cookwares, housewares, you name it. There’s even an upstairs with more stuff. It can be really kitschy or downright serious from a cooking perspective. Id say wait for the off season and you’ll have a better time perusing and buying

Missed stopping last year when we came to Reno. Wont do that again. Truckee for shopping and this store especially for unusual and gift items. The one thing I saw as a gift item was sold out and only the small display item was left. The owner gave it to me along with her contact info so I could check back when she has restocked.

Went in to kill some time and ended up killing some $. Cute little cooking store where you can find a cute gift for anyone. I purchased these neat wine bottle cork stopper lid things, the lady behind the counter gave me a demo because I wasn’t sure how they worked. #boughtoneforyouoneforme #whoops

Shop local? Not in this case. Although this is a lovely well stocked store, their staff and management lack certain consideration for their customers, at least in my case. On my last visit the weather was horrendous with high winds and very wet snow falling. The road had not been plowed recently and was icy and slushy. I had spent some time shopping and had collected several items to purchase leaving them on the counter until I was finished, when I asked to use their bathroom. The woman that had been helping me told me that I would have to use the restroom across the street(although they did have a bathroom that I had used a few years ago). I was hesitant to do this due to the weather conditions, my age(65++) and road condition. But when you have to go, you have to go! I carefully crossed the street and did fall on the opposite curb. I was helped up and led to the building by a kind stranger(who also offered to wait and assist me in getting back). When I got back into the store my party was paying for their purchases and when it was my turn, I told the woman that I would rather do my shopping elsewhere or online where I could use a bathroom if needed. I got a steely glare. I am a dedicated ‘local shopper’, but in this case customer care was non existent. Very much not the norm for business in this wonderful community.

Unfortunately I have to give it a star although I’d rather not… Bought a timer shaped like a little pig for $ 25 — brought it home. put it next to my stove, and within an hour of turning it on, the entire inner workings melted! To make matter worse, when I tried to return the item, I was told that they would not reimburse me, as it was not a «kitchen item»!! I would however be able to but ANOTHER defective one for cost!!! So I would have to eat the $ 25 dollars for the original, then pay another $ 12 for a new one! what a joke!!! Not to mention that fact that they admitted to marking it up 100%!!! Do not go here. it’s a rip off, and the customer service is beyond terrible!!! If you buy an item of theirs and it burns your house down, you have been warned!!!

I buy the strangest things in here. From a teeny tiny cast iron pan to a spatula made of sustainably harvested Thai bamboo. So shoot me.

There are so many adorable items that caught my eye here! All of which were unique and would make great gifts for the casual chef to the gourmet food fan. From locally crafted jams, high end cooking appliances, to fun items decorated with animal themes, you’ll find anything cooking/gift related in all price ranges. Great place to stop in on your visit to Truckee.

Like a Sur La Table but with some more personal items. Purchased a bear beer bottle opener(one you screw into the wall) and it’s pretty cool. There was only one register with two ladies working. and one lady paying slowly… so I had to wait even though I was ready. It’s okay though, gave me plenty of time to decide if a neat bottle opener was worth $ 12.99.

Kind of like Williams Sonoma but cooler because it’s independent. I spent a lot of time in here, I even bought a few things even though there was no room left in our car for any more crap after 2+ weeks on vacation, and my hubby pretty much had to drag me out. I had no idea that there was a 2nd floor however, I just learned that from someone else’s review. dangit. Now I have to drive 8 hours to go back! They have a lot of the standard cookware, gadgets, etc. that you could find anywhere but also some fun and unique cookbooks, fancy foods, etc. One downside: SO cramped.

This place is amazing! They don’t just carry kitchen items either, in the upstairs area they have all sorts of home goods. I only bought a couple of small items. I thought for sure I was going to walk out of there with something new for my kitchen but I picked up a few things and decided I could find them cheaper somewhere else.

Our community(locals and out-of-towners) are blessed to have The Cooking Gallery… a Truckee institution. I doubt there isn’t a thing that your own kitchen would need that The Gallery cannot provide. You can dash in and dash out for whatever essentials or gourmet needs you may have… or just leisurely browse. In addition to ‘pots and pans’ you will find a wide assortment of place settings, candles, gourmet food stuffs, aprons, towels, etc etc etc. The staff and owners are most attentive… it goes with the diverse and satisfying inventory that they offer. Make sure you bring your Mastercard!

You need it? Got it… You want it… yeah, they got it, and it’s hard to resist. Have fun browsing, and dragging yourself out without buying even one fun gadget… I know I had a hard time.
