Cake Tahoe

Cupcakes are AMAZING! And BIG! And filled! Doesn’t get much better than that! Although I’m trying to be healthy, I can’t help but check out the local cupcakery and see what they are working with, and this place definitely didn’t disappoint.
So many cupcake options! And they all looked decadent. Note to all that all the cupcakes have a particular filling, so make sure to read closely! I ended up settling for an Oreo cupcake. And oh em gee! So yummy! The icing wasn’t overly sweet (yet just the right amount for buttercream) and the cake was still nice and moist. It literally was like eating a softer version of an Oreo, but so much better!!!
Extra kudos for the customer service. Not sure if it was the owner, but she was super nice and helpful! And even though I came in covered in mud, she didn’t complain or gripe about it. Goes a long way in my book. And let’s just say that now I will definitely be back!!:-)

Probably the Best cupcakes I have ever had. Way better than Suzies cupcakes in SF. Every bit as good as Sprinkles if not better. Great service.

We stopped in here and the girl was friendly enough but hadn’t tried them all so couldn’t share details and there were no samples. The girl wiped her nose though thankfully after she had boxed up the cupcake we decided to try. The cake was dry and the buttercream was a little sweet but did have a good flavor. Maybe the other favors are not dry, not sure but it was a cute place but someone had left a cupcake sitting on the counter that they didn’t know about and decided to just leave it even though there were no others inside.

I ordered custom cupcakes for my boyfriend’s birthday from Cake Tahoe about 3 days before I needed them (which I really wouldn’t advise you to do, but we did a last minute trip up to Tahoe & that was all the time I had). I emailed Johanna telling her the designs I would like for the cupcakes and if it would be possible to get some custom ones made. She said yes (thankfully) & I called to place the order the next day! I spoke to Cathy on the phone & she was super sweet & helpful. The morning of pick up I got a text from Alyssa asking for the name of my boyfriend & how old he is turning. I wasn’t exactly sure what the reason for this was, since I didn’t ask for any happy birthdays to be written on the cupcake, but I went ahead and told her.
I had my friends pick up the cupcakes since my boyfriend & I went on a hike during the day (I wanted the cupcakes to be a surprise). I was so anxious to see how the cupcakes turned out because I gave Johanna almost no sort of guidelines AT ALL. But let me tell you, these cupcakes turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined! They were amazing! The detail in each decoration was perfect! The fan favorite was the glitter in the fondant for the sushi :) So much love & artistry went into making these cupcakes & I am so grateful that they turned out the way that they did!
They were also super yummy, if anyone was wondering. The favorites were the Heath bar cupcake and red velvet! :) Super moist, great frosting, and awesome flavors!

Wow, best cupcake ever and really great ice cream! My favorite cupcake place was Sprinkles in Beverly hills until I went to Cake Tahoe! It’s quaint and cute, very clean and the owner is so nice and welcoming. My must stop place in Truckee now!!!

I come by Cake Tahoe every time my family goes to Tahoe. Their red velvet cupcakes are just amazing. The cake is so moist and tasty, they just melt in your mouth. They are also beautiful with pretty frosting and cute candy toppings. Perfect place to stop by for coffee and a treat after lunch in town.

Wow that really was the best cupcake I’ve ever had! So light & fluffy and amazing chocolate butter cream frosting with heath bar crunch topping. Really cute place that a local friend introduced us to. Super delish!

Stop in and enjoy a tasty cupcake or some delicious ice cream. It’s a quaint little shop with limited seating but a huge variety to choose from. Take a stroll down the hub of Truckee as you eat your delicious treat and enjoy all the shops (and people watching. Parking in the area is limited but the walk is quick and enjoyable. I would recommend a specific flavor but each one I had was delish! I doubt you can go wrong!

Frist time here… cake was really good as for the icing was a little to much for me but over all would go back. thanks again.

Great ice cream, wonderful homemade red velvet waffle cone, a must when in downtown Truckee.

Pretty cute place! I bought the Oreo, red velvet, and a classic vanilla and I loved the vanilla the most! I wish they had som thing like peanut butter flavored! I loved their bathroom the most! Super cute and adorable with cupcakes everywhere! But it was a long drive from south lake. I don’t know if it’s worth the drive. Maybe if your board of south lake.

Ordered six to go. My first pick was a classic cupcake, which I am not a fan of. Not very moist, and the frosting was overly sweet.
I only had a bit and decided to go for the red velvet. The cake and cream cheese part inside was amazing. The frosting however, was too sweet. They should have incorporated more cream cheese.
I have 4.5 more in the box, fingers crossed that they will be great!

One of the best things about coming to Truckee is getting Cake Tahoe cupcakes!!! We crave them.
Always a great variety of flavors to choose from. We got there 15 minutes before they were closing, and there were still great cupcakes to be had. We pretty much cleaned them out!
We love that they are always incredibility lite, yet full of flavor. Haven’t found one yet that we don’t like. Not only are they super tasty, but they are beautiful as well.
Highly recommend them! Don’t leave Truckee without stopping by.

This is the kind of place you take girlfriend or your wife on a date or when you want sweets yes nice but a bit pricy just letting you know they make every morning fresh cupcakes it’s a plus.

This place is awesome! Sooooo yummy!!! Brought the kids in today and shared the split cake and ice cream oh my gosh it was delicious! Service was outstanding also! Great place to go if your in Truckee and have a sweet tooth. Clean family friendly environment, I will definitely be returning and highly recommend :)

Cupcakes were delish! Flavorful and moist. Sampled a couple different flavors, red velvet chocolate chip was the crowd favorite. Ice cream was tasty and sizes were decent. Only complaint was that both cakes and ice cream selection were limited. Pricing on par with a tourist town, SPENDY!

Had ice cream there one night and got cupcakes to go on another.
The chocolate ice cream was nothing out of this world, just basic ice cream you can get anywhere else in my opinion.
Got a banana chocolate and red velvet to go the other night. Red Velvet was the better of the two by far and had great chocolately flavor and rich frosting. Definite winner. The banana cupcake was dry and just didn’t taste good. We each took a bite and then 86’d it to the garbage.
Supposedly the gluten-​free cupcakes are great, so that may be worth a try for those of you who can’t eat wheat.

Delicious assortment of cupcakes and ice cream. The Littles got a red velvet and a confetti which they both devoured with big grins. The girls said the cupcakes were as good as Sprinkles which means a lot coming from them, they have extremely high cupcake standards. I got a toddlers size lemon sherbet and the hubs got a dairy free marion berry sorbet with a waffle cone which I crushed up to make a mock cobbler. It’s the ingenuous type of wife I am.

Fantastic cupcakes in old town Truckee. (Don’t be misled by the store name, they dont have regular cakes).
A bit pricey, but if you’re a cupcake connoisseur, well worth it.

Try the Crème Brulee cupcake with while milk, fantastic combination. I love gluten, but for those that don’t, many of their best sellers come in gluten free form. They also have ice cream :)
Limited seating inside, but doesn’t seem to be to crowded often. There’s a nice table with bench in the back, and stools along a side bar. Parking in the area does cost, but is relative cheap (about $ 1.50/hr).
Friendly staff and a happy cupcake ambience.
