I am not a local so when my Audi had a major oil leak I knew I needed some place I could trust. This is the place in Truckee or North Tahoe to go. They listened to me, understood my issues and stayed within my budget. The owner and staff are all very friendly people as well. I am so happy I found this place, and if your Audi, VW, BMW and Im sure others as well needs a helping hand to get back on the road again or just smart people taking care of it, this should be your number 1 choice to go in the Truckee area.

They are outstanding! I had a yellow dashboard light (ABS) come on while driving from the Bay Area to Tahoe. I called Avant Werks and they looked over my car, cleaned and replaced the brake fluid the next day. They arranged a one day rental car for me so we could continue with our vacation plans. The mechanic’s wife drove me to Hertz and back. I can’t imagine how the service could have been better. Simply the best experience!

Avant Werks (AW) helped me. My son had borrowed my Volvo XC70 to get from Sacramento to Truckee. It began running poorly and I was concerned that he would not be able to take it back to the Bay Area to catch his flight. Drew took the car on a busy Friday afternoon, quickly diagnosed the problems and fixed the critical ones so that my son could head down the hill. AW was knowledgeable, fast, fair and very helpful. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.

My MINI travels back and forth from SF to Truckee. I decided I should have a trusted place to service my car in both locations. I am so happy Avant Werks is here. Their prices are reasonable (for German car prices) and the technicians explain things clearly. Here is another great feature… Avant Werks installed brakes and pads on my MINI, a month later there was clearly a problem. I was in SF, and called Avant Werks. They connected me with Advanced Autowerks in SF. Together, the problem was solved, my brakes are fixed, and I did not have to drive to Truckee to get this resolved. FYI… it was a manufacturers defect! Thank you! I hope I do not have to have my car serviced soon, but when I do I will definitely consider Avant Werks.

I am new to the Truckee area, and figured that my Audi A4 would need to be serviced in Reno, until I found Avant Werks. I was a bit skeptical bringing my car to a small town private facility, but I am so glad that I took the chance. Drew proved immediately that he is an absolute authority on Audi. More importantly, he is an honest man, he gave me fantastic service at a much better price than a dealer would have offered, and he delivered my car to me, spotless on the inside and out. I’m not the easiest guy to please, but I can honestly say that I am thrilled to have found Avant Werks, and they earned my repeat business.

Drew and Jessica do a great job keeping the customer (me) happy. If you have a Audi or German car this is the place in Truckee to go.

This is the only place I bring my 2003 Audi RS6 for any service at all, and I drive over 2 and a half hours to the shop.
The owner Drew is one of the few RS6 certified techs I’ve ever heard of — he runs a great shop, cares for customer’s cars as if they’re his, goes above and beyond any chance he gets, has great staff, helps with the cost any chance he gets, etc.
It’s always a very well coordinated effort to get other vehicle accommodations — they’ve driven me to the local car rental place and was given their company discount, saving me quite a lot on the rental; Drew has even met me halfway from my house with the new shop loaner car.
I could go on and on about this shop, as it’s literally the only one I take my car to, and only speak highly of Avant Werks and everyone there.

I was trying to leave Truckee for the Bay Area when our 530xi wagon lost an ignition coil. We returned to Truckee to stay the night, and I called AW the next morning. By 4 that afternoon we were back on our way home.
Basically these guys (Mike in particular) were professional, courteous, and delivered as promised. Mike also shuttled me back and forth to my house, saving me a cab ride.
I’m glad to have found a «go-​to» place in Truckee.

My Subaru 2003 Outback needed some love in the detail apartment. The car definitely needed to be waxed on the outside and the inside could use some tlc from the bike stains it occasionally received.
I looked on Unilocal and didn’t realize Avant Werks did detailing. Granted I have a Subaru and these guys specialize in Audi’s and VW’s so I wasn’t sure if they would even detail a Subaru, but after a pleasant conversation I was on the books for Christmas Eve.
Being that it was Christmas Eve they gave me a Christmas special which was generous. At the end of the day I called in asking if they could pick me up. Mike was more than happy to and when I arrived my Subaru looked like it just came off the lot.
I don’t think the outside had ever been so shiny and the interior which I thought was darker had been lifted to its original light color. Driving away I noticed that small details and was quite impressed and look forward to giving these guys my business in the future.

These guys are amazing!!! I was frazzled because my car had to be towed in right before Christmas. Mike was knowledgeable, kind, and really funny. They checked out my entire car and created a «report card» so I wouldn’t have any future surprises and made the necessary repairs that same day. The entire staff is super friendly and being a woman I often feel like I get taken advantage of when it comes to car repairs… not at Avant Werks! I even got an early Christmas present (thanks guys!) I will only be taking my car to Avant in the future.

We love Drew and his team at AvantWerks. Been taking our A5 there… so conveniently located in Truckee! Glad to learn they are one taking on British cars as well! Our 1998 XK8 is in there now. Drew is thorough and knows his stuff. Work isn’t cheap and sometimes takes a little longer, but we have complete confidence in the quality and they communicate well.

I just bought my pre-​owned Volkswagen Eos last year and naturally I drove it to Tahoe. I was due for an oil change so I brought it into Avant Werks since it’s a 1,000 mi roundtrip drive from Las Vegas. Apparently, that was not all it was due for… Andrew scoped it from hood to boot with a detailed description of all that he worked on, which came in handy when the dealer tried to tell me I needed services. I feel 110% secure with my pre-​owned car purchase now that I knew everything is up to date and in proper working condition. I drive to Tahoe about 3x a year so I just got another oil change and a few factory recommended services again at Avant Werks. I completely trust Andrew and his team, I feel confident when my car is in such extreme conditions.
And who doesn’t love a repair shop that cleans your whip?

My Cayenne had a moment while on vacation and Mike and team came recommend. They worked quickly to help us get back on the road and the car is working great again (and at a reasonable price). The guys stayed late to pitch in on the repair and get us back to camping. Much love.

I called and made an appointment to have my car tune for a stage 1 fully loaded APR tune. I spoke with Andrew and he informed me the whole process will require about 2.5 hours to complete and test. I agreed and arrived at 1pm. As I patiently waited, some unexpected problems appeared that caused the tune to freeze half way through. I ended up leaving my car there overnight. Andrew called me the same night to update me on the situation. The following afternoon, I got the some good news that my car was completed and I picked it up after work.
I know sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. Avant Werks have been extremely helpful and accommodating. Since they couldn’t get my car to work, Andrew paid for my rental car and Mike drove me to the destination to pick it up. The following day, Mike picked me up after I dropped off the rental and Avant Werks gave me a discount, $ 100 off labor for the inconvenience. These guys stand by their work and it shows. The shop is clean and the staff is friendly. You can bet your money that if you put your trust in Avant Werks to work on your car, they will get it done right.
It’s been two days since getting my car back and it’s a dream to drive. No problem with it so far (knock on wood) but I know if there’s anything wrong with it due to installation, Avant Werks will take care of it. This is my first time at this shop and I will tell you, it won’t be my last.

Great great garage. They fixed our coolant system with thigh time and budget restrictions so that we could get our plane on time. They know our vanagon better than any mechanics we had seen before. Go there they are awesome!

Great Experience and excellent service at a reasonable price.
Drew and his team really looked after my 03 Jetta that was a bit of a mess and could not pass smog.
It is hard to believe it is the same car, it looks and drives as good as the day I bought it 10 years ago. Will certainly recommend and revisit Avant Werks in the future. Friendly, reliable and trustworthy.
