I think people do not review when they have a positive experience because we all love to complain and blame others for our teeth problems and our childrens teeth problems. My daughters cavities are a combination of her fault for not brushing well and my fault for not doing it myself, that being said: I was told at a previous dentist that my daughter had four cavities. We made an appointment to have all four filled. When we got there she said we were filling three and pulling one and putting in a spacer. I chose to leave because I could not see what had changed during the week between setting the appointment and arriving for it. After the bait and switch appointment I back burnered finding a new dentist. Resigned to the reality that she was having a tooth pulled and three others filled I made an appointment with Dr. Zhu. He found room in his schedulefor me in less than a week after my call. I expressed fear over my small child, who at eight weights sixty pounds, anesthetized. He asked that I have her fast in case she required anesthesia but offered to play it by ear. When we got there he greeted us himself. The doctor spent the majority of the time we were there with us. He patiently and kindly read her new xrays to us. Showed me where her cavities were and it turned out there were only three. This is a big deal, the other dentist was ready to fill teeth that did not require filling, i had told him she needed four teeth filled. He could have easily charged our insurance for an additional tooth being filled, as the other dentist intended on doing, due to my ignorance and not being able to read xrays. Plus, he showed me how the worst cavity she had was in a tooth that was still salvagable and only required drilling and a cap. My daughter cries when I brush her hair, she cries when I brush her teeth, she cries about stubbing her toe and eating her vitamins. He was so kind and gentle with her, patient and reassuring, I was shocked. I have never seen a dentist or doctor of any kind explain to a child exactly what he was doing step by step. He told her how proud he was of her, how good she was doing and what a special girl she was. She is a total sissy and made it through a shot in a tooth, three drillings, two caps and one filling without a tear or a complaint. No need to be anesthetized. She is no longer afraid of the dentist, already has commented on how she can chew again and how much more confident she feels to have no more cavities in her mouth. To my credit, I did prepare her as best I could and threatned and bribed her combo. i told her she needed to be good so he could do the best job he could. Maybe if other parents were proactive in informing their kids as to what is going to happen and their expectations for behavior, the kids would get better results. We are going back for their cleanings for both of my children.

We came here for an extraction leading to an implant for my daughter. When we got there, he refused to extract the tooth, stating that he wanted to go the«more expensive» root canal route. The truth is the implant was way more expensive for me, but the root canal would pad his pocket more. After refusing to treat her infected tooth, he attempted to perform costly fixes on other teeth, letting the infected one remain untreated. It really felt like he just wanted the money to do a root canal, something we were not willing to do, and did not want to perform the extraction because it was less money in his pocket. When I began to protest that she was in pain and needed the extraction so we could move forward with the implant, his staff gathered around me, darting glances at each other and staring me down, like I was some kind of criminal for asking him to reconsider treating her. At the end of the appointment, he let my daughter leave in pain and did not treat her at all. He was 100% willing to ignore her emergency in favor of treating her other minor issues. The only one who benefited from this appointment was Dr. Zhu.
