Vip Tanning

Was in town for two weeks and stopped by here. Gave me a nice deal for a drop in with a buy one get one free. Good service and nice beds.

In my hunt to find a new tanning salon, I stumbled across «VIP Tanning». I decided to look at the reviews to decide if it was a place I wanted to try out for a spray tan.
Color me surprised when the first thing my eye sees is a straight up social network war between patron and owner. I felt like I was reading a high schooler’s FB page…
I have no idea which one of you is telling the truth. I see a girl with zebra stripes and ask myself — why would she post a picture of a bad tan if she didn’t get it at your store? It just doesn’t make sense. Regardless of the good reviews, I crossed this place off my list, and it wasn’t because of Ciara’s review, rather the owner’s response.
Look dude, I’m sure you’re cool. And judging by the positive reviews and length of years you have been in business, I’m sure that most of your customers are satisfied. However, no consumer, who has never been to your business, wants to be concerned that you will publicly post information regarding their account, schedule, etc. with your business. The fact that it kept going on and on, like every bad relationship I’ve ever been in, made me question the integrity of your business.
Anyway — I’m here to let you know you lost a potential customer because your post. Perhaps next time a «thanks for the feedback» will suffice. Not everyone in life will like you, focus on those that do.

VIP was my first tanning experience, and it will definitely be my forever tanning place. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful! The owner is always there, which is really rare for any business in general. They were there to answer any of my questions and also went out of there way to make sure I was happy with the services. The facility is super clean and there is always a smiling face there to greet you! I would recommend VIP Troy to anyone who is looking for nothing short of a great tanning experience.

This has to be my favorite place to tan.
I went in the other day with a friend and they let me give her one of my visits. I usually only do stand ups because I’m afraid of getting too claustrophobic in a bed, but the two workers there, (one being John & I forgot the other girls name sorry!) were so helpful. They were very informative about what all their lotions contain and what would fit fit me best. John also told me about the bed that was a part of my package that i could use instead of a stand up, which he somehow managed to convince me to try! And I loved it.
I had the best experience here. They’re very polite and so CLEAN. I can’t say that enough SO CLEAN. I won’t tan anywhere else, I can swear by this place.
Ps I think John is the owner. He is so knowledgable! He’s one of the best parts of this place!

Love this place. I wish I could remember the girls name who helped me out. She went out of her way to make sure I got the package and bed I needed. The owner even gave me a free package of lotion my third time in. Just a great place to tan. MATRIX BED ALL THE WAY.

Awesome salon. Basically, all the girls that reside in the city of Troy go here. They always have awesome deals going on, so you really are never spending too much money. Staff is nice and beds are always cleaned after use. Haven’t been able to buy a tanning package lately, but I highly recommend this place.

Very clean salon! They provide towels for you, bulbs are replaced often! So glad to have found this place! Highly recommend!

I posted a photo regarding my bad mystic experience at VIP tanning during the summer (I came out half brown, half white and was denied the opportunity to spray again or get a refund according to the employee on the phone). I was contacted recently by the manager (John K) via Unilocal private message who stated that «it would have been my pleasure to make it right.» I was willing to give VIP another chance so I messaged him to let him know about my experience in detail. Unfortunately, I have not heard back from the manager since his initial message one month ago and chose to post this review so other tanners can seek out a salon that does provides good service, products, AND customer service… as VIP is not it.
UPDATE ¹¹⁄₁₈: The manager (John K) has chosen to respond back to my review in a hostile way via the comments section below. I do not appreciate his decision to disclose personal details about his customers (number of times visiting your salon, etc) or suggesting I am being dishonest simply because his salon got a poor review. I hope to discontinue communications at this time but stand by my suggestion to future customers that this salon (and manager) is unsatisfactory and unprofessional.

” I called VIP multiple times within 24 – 48 hours of my spray tan and spoke to a male staff member who repeatedly said that he could do nothing about the fact that I was striped like a zebra. I asked if it would be possible for me to come in and show him, to touch it up, or spray again and get a credit after the fact since I did not want to go to school that way and was unavailable to come in when management was available (due to working and being in grad school) and he refused. Similarly, I was told that the color might «keep developing» and to just wait it out. This was not the case and I was forced to scrub and exfoliate until I was bright red that night. I would have been very happy to come in a different time but I was simply told that no manager was available and to try again later. As you can imagine, when you are two-​tone on your arms and body, time is of the essence so I never returned to VIP Tanning.”

Can’t say enough good things about this place. The owner, John is the bomb and is really helpful when it comes to making decisions about what bed or lotion to use. Becca at the front desk is really sweet and fun to talk to if you have to wait for a bed (which is rare because they have a lot of beds). The place is spotless clean, which is a huge deal to me, unlike some of the other tanning places in the area. and the tan you get from the high pressure bed is the best I’ve gotten!

Never had any issues. The staff is always nice and welcoming. Prices are great and salon is clean. I will continue to come here! Check it out!!!

Open until 10:00pm! I purchased a 2 week package, and then wasn’t available to return for a few months! They gave me full credit for the two weeks! They took their time, showed me how each bed works, and were interested in me (as a newbie) not burning!
They have great packages such as the «upcoming event» 2 week package to get ready for that cruise or vacation… And an «ultimate event» package to get you ready in only 48 hours for that hot weekend getaway!
Lots of deal on lotions too! Highly recommended!

This is by far the best tanning salon I have ever been to in my entire life. I have been tanning since I was 16 and have never had an experience like I did this afternoon. John was amazing and he educated me on the beds and lotions. Everyone working there was so helpful and sweet. I received a great deal on my package and lotion. The bed itself was just out of this world. It even mists you with water! This location is over an hour away from me and I will NEVER go anywhere else.

Wow. This is by far the best tanning salon I have ever been to in my life! The level 3 beds are the lowest and most «ordinary» and even those are nice, however, the high pressure bed reminds me of something from the future. It’s a sheet of acrylic over all dark blue/​purple lamps. Like nothing I’ve ever seen. My favorite is one step down from the high pressure bed. Every 2 min it mists your body with cool purified water and it is the first bed I’ve seen with lamps behind your head so that the bed doesn’t miss the tops of your shoulders. When the bed kicks on I feel like I’m laying out on the beach. The best service, prices, beds, and overall experience I’ve ever had, hands down.

I LOVE this place! The only thing that would make this place better for me is if it was closer to my house. I love all the equipment, the tanning prices are amazing and cannot be beat. Everyone is always very friendly and helpful. The perks of having a membership are great as well. You get 50% off all lotions ALL THE TIME. High pressure upgrades are only $ 6! This is unheard of for me at all the tanning places in my area. You also get a free high pressure visit every single month. It’s always very clean and inviting here. I have zero complaints. Nothing but good things to say.
