Skyline is an institution, so you’re bound to end up here if you’re in the area. They know how to do Cincinnati style chili + pasta + onions + LOTS of cheese = comfort food at its core. They have a drive-thru, and package everything surprisingly well to be enjoyed at home!

Having recently moved to the area, Skyline was a brand new adventure! Wow! The Troy location is receiving 5 stars because not only is the food excellent, fast, hot, & very cheesy– the mgmt & staff are the friendliest people ever! Hats off to you all!

I have always heard about Skyline Chili but today I finally had the opportunity to give them a try. TOTALDISAPPOINTMENT. The food was cold and bland, the french fries were soggy, and the«hot» dogs tasted like they were just taken out of the package and slapped in the bun. I have no idea what all of the fuss is about. I think they’re also overpriced for the portion size let alone the deficiency of quality. One star was given only because you have to award at least one to write a review.

If you’ve never had cincinnati style chili this is the place to be. Forget that nasty stuff that has a star in its name. The Troy Oh location has a good staff and great management. Quick service and great food.

Well first of all I have to preface this by saying most people either love skyline or hate skyline. I am a total LOVER! I grew up in Ohio so it was always a part of my childhood. However, this review is specifically for this Skyline«Branch.» I am not sure I have ever visited a restaurant with employees who are so friendly. They are incredibly quick and helpful. The thing I like most though is that they are SO friendly. They will joke around with you and make you very comfortable for your dining experience. The manager at this branch is a role model to all food industry workers. And judging by his employees he must take great pride in his work and must be very picky about the servers and workers he hires. I was just in Troy last week and look forward to the next visit so I can get my fix!

This Skyline’s always has very friendly, helpful, and welcoming employees, even if you’re just going through the drive-thru. And they don’t skimp on the cheese!

If you love chili, then this is your spot to eat. These folks will put chili on anything with cheese. Fantastic! The food is great and the service is awesome. Make sure you get a bib

Great service. As a first timer I was greeted by the manager. That doesn’t happen often at fast food places. Most meals are reasonably priced. I did find the chili by itself priced a little high, $ 5 for a ½ pint with cheese. Some of the more substantial meals are priced at $ 5.

Today is my second visit to this location. This visit was just as pleasurable as the last. The quality and speed I have come to expect from Skyline is alive and well here. In addition, this is a very clean facility and staffed well. Shirley took care of me today and was stellar. All the employees were courteous and welcoming. The food was great and the environment as well. Kudos Skyline. Well done.

This was our first time to a Skyline Chili. Although I think Michigan Coney Island chili dogs are better(I might be a little biased), the customer service here was hands down the best ever! Very friendly and welcoming staff.

Wow this is a surprise venture. It’s been many many years. Vision & aroma suggests. I’m over due. Tomorrow may feel different. I was offered the recommended bib. Don’t remember this accessory. Start with single Coney Dog w/mustard & onions. Dog buried in bun by sweet chili shredded cheese. Stacked high. It’s fabulous 5-way chili regular. What a sight. Delightful again the cheese was inviting. The favor was sweet. Extremely rewarding. Thanks for the trip back to my youth.

I would like to give the place five stars, but ultimately it is fast food. That being said, it is very tasty regional fast food and the service and cleanliness are better than lots of mid-priced restaurants. Skyline focuses on Cincinnati style chili and coneys. The chili is basically spaghetti with a meat-like sauce that clearly includes cinnamon and possibly clove. It is normally topped with a mound of finely shredded yellow cheese(real, I think). That is a «three way» — these dishes are also called«ways». There is a four way(with chopped onion) and a five way(chopped onions and beans). A coney should not be confused with a hotdog from Coney Island — it is a small hotdog with the same chili. While all of this may sound weird, it is actually pretty addictive. Bibs and unlimited oyster crackers(not sure why) come with your meal. The place is spotless and it is full service(plus drive through). The staff is unfailingly friendly and in a genuine In-N-Out Burger kind of way. As it turns out, if it is your first visit, you eat free(a coney or med. chili or both)! Crazy, right? They even gave my dad a special ceramic dish as a gift. It is probably in the top ten restaurants of any kind for staff enthusiasm and graciousness.

Its a «Greek» chilli on dogs, pasta, wrapped in a barritto, etc. Good taste and not overly large portions. Served fast and very friendly staff. Clean and their operations well oiled.

Having grown up in Ohio so I love Skyline Chili. I always look for Skyline Chili when I am traveling through Ohio. And, without exception, this is the very best Skyline location. The management and employees here are amazing, awesome, excellent, outstanding… all of the above. If I am traveling anywhere near Troy I will go out of my way to visit this location. I have visited here early in the day, late at night, lunch, dinner, snack time and it is always excellent. Once I stopped here during a miserable ice storm and ended up staying for hours. I ended up feeling like I had been a guest in someone’s home because the staff was so friendly and accommodating. OK, so it is just a chili place… but I promise that you will always feel better after eating here. This Skyline location is an example of what GOODMANAGEMENT can do, whether it is a fast food restaurant or finest restaurant.

Long time Skyline fan(circa 1979) and the Troy restaurant is the class of the area. They make me believe I am back on Ludlow near UC. All you are missing are the older Greek guys serving up the meals of my early days at UC. A staple at family night. I make sure to get it wet as they must have complaints about the runnier chili from amateur Skyline fans. Impeccably managed and the staff are the best. It is an example of how a restaurant is MADE by the management and staff. This exact same location was on the verge of closing after opening and the new management turned it around completely. Just wish you were open at 11PM on weekends so I could relive my late night college Skyline runs. :)

I LOVESKYLINE!!! I grew up in Ohio, but moved to Utah when I was 17. Every time I go home to visit my family, I make them take me to Skyline. Usually more than once. Usually on the way home from the airport. Hey, a girl needs her fix. What IS so special about this place? I cannot tell you how many times I have been asked that. All Skyline’s are great. But This Skyline is the greatest. First, the Cincinnati-style Chili. More about that in a minute. Second, the manager, Mike. He is the best! Every time I’ve been in the past few years, he comes around and talks with you as if you have been living on the same block in the same neighborhood your whole lives. He honestly makes you feel like family. He’ll bend-over-backwards to help, bring you a «bib,» give you a refill of your drink to-go, give you extra cheese or sauce, give you something new if you don’t like your order, the list goes on. Best of all? I took my beau from Utah there with me this past Christmas and they give first-timers a little first-timer treat bag! All these little extras make you feel as if you are experiencing something great… a little secret gem in the midwest… not just eating somewhere new. What IS Cincinnati-style chili? Oh my friends. My friends! Only in Ohio can you top your spaghetti with Chili. Only in Ohio are beans not automatically included. Only in Ohio can your tastebuds dance about like the Rockettes — high-kicking in perfect fabulosity. As Wiki states it, «Cincinnati chili(or „Cincinnati-style chili“) is a regional style of chili con carne characterized by the use of seasonings such as cinnamon, cloves, allspice or chocolate. It is commonly served over spaghetti or as a hot dog sauce, and is normally of a thin, sauce-like consistency, unlike most chili con carne.» Want a three-way? Totally acceptable here. Four-way or Five-way? It’s all up to you. Straight from Skyline’s website: 3-Way Chili: Our signature dish… steaming spaghetti, covered with our original, secret-recipe chili and topped with a mound of shredded cheddar cheese. 4-Way Chili: A 3-Way with diced onions or red beans. 5-Way Chili: A 3-Way with diced onions and red beans. My personal favorite is the chili dog. They are slightly smaller than a normal hot dog, which makes them more palatable, in my opinion, and nestled in a soft, not-too-much-bread bun. The dog is topped with the signature Cincinnati-chili, your choice if you want a touch of onions and mustard(you DO want this) your choice of the most delicious freshly-shredded cheddar you’ve ever had OR a concoction made with habanero cheese for the spice-lover, and you can also add their signature hot-sauce, which I highly recommend in moderation. My beau has had me try hot dogs and chili dogs all over the place — from Las Vegas to Cleveland… but nothing satisfies me because nothing beats Skyline. I have never, ever, ever(did I mention never ever?) been disappointed with my order at Skyline. Remember to never let it get cold — it is way tastier fresh. You are missing out if you ever pass through Troy, Ohio along I-75 and don’t stop here. Big time. Do it. Now.
