A consistent favorite of mine, and everyone that I’ve ever introduced to this wonderful spot. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal here in the umpteen years that I have been patronizing the restaurant.

I had the Southwest Hash with a Blackberry Biscuit and the meal was very tasty! The warm blackberry sauce was wonderful on their biscuit.

I’m giving Recipes two stars for their breakfast which is good, and so is the vanilla latte. HOWEVER, when patrons no longer feel welcome to relax and enjoy their meal and company, the restaurant no longer deserves their business. My friends and I had been going to breakfast at Recipes for years. At some point, Recipes started putting a sign on each table that said«no camping please,» has a picture of a tent on it, and mentioned other customers waiting for a table. Recipes is basically saying«eat and get out.» I have never seen such a rude sign in any other restaurant I have been in. This sign makes everyone at the table feel rushed, uncomfortable and unwelcome. Shame on the owner and/or management for this. It’s sad that a business only cares about turning tables over. We have not been back to Recipes.

Legendary brunch spot and deceptively good food in Troy. Pay no mind to the bare bones signage outside. All the creativity has been concentrated to their divine menu and sublime cooking skills. Probably the best omelette and home fries served in Oakland County. Interior is clean and well appointed with more space than you’d imagine. Anyone pulling into Kerby’s Coney next door would be wise to make the detour into Recipes. They use better ingredients here and the food is far superior in every conceivable way. Gets busy towards lunch during the work week but it flows quickly. Kudos to the brilliant wait staff who’ve perfected expeditious service with a smile. I have denounced nearly every other breakfast spot in Metro Detroit and will be dining here exclusively for brunch from now on. I’ve come to terms with the fact that it just doesn’t get much better. I urge you to try Recipes if you haven’t yet had the pleasure.

This place sucks! Ordered eggs Benedict and the muffin was so old and hard that I couldn’t cut it… even with a steak knife. Crab cake was frozen and old. The staff did nothing about it.

The décor in this place is awful, the quality of food is awful, and the presentation their of is much the same. Will not be going back here, and paying for something that is available at mainstream chain restaurants.

Great service, great waitress. Nice clean restaurant. Horrible food! The French toast looked pretty but was super soggy. The strawberry pancakes looked pretty but were sooooooooooooo dry. The buttermilk out the box are moister than theirs. I wanted the strawberry cheesecake French toast but they only have that on the weekends and not enough ingredients to make it today(Wednesday) Maybe I need to try something different but I’m not willing to take that chance. Oh well, you win some & lose some. This was a definite loss!

I’ve been coming to Recipes for a few years now and have never had a less than delicious meal. On the surface you might see a diner, but the food is way beyond any diner I’ve been to. I would put this place up against any of the brunch spots in the Troy/RO/Birmingham area — and it comes without a hefty price tag or stuffy atmosphere. The skillets and the strawberry cheesecake French toast are the most memorable dishes I’ve had here.

Tried Recipes for an early lunch today with my Mom and daughter. It was a recommendation from the employees at the bank down the street. We were disgusted. I literally started to get physically ill and vomit within 20 min of eating half of a Reuben sandwich. It’s very concerning especially since I’m 15 weeks pregnant. I’m so glad I didn’t give any to my 2 year old daughter. I’m in town visiting my family and I’m praying the rest of my time isn’t ruined due to this horrendous establishment and that my unborn child is ok. DONOTEATHERE.

Very great«mom and pop» restaurant. The chocolate chip pancakes I had were a little bit dry, but they were still pretty good. I was with a group of 10 and they still managed to seat us even though it is a smaller place. The time of day we went was fine, but I found that it was sorta weird that they are only open until about 3pm… considering they serve dinner.

Even though I lived in Troy basically my whole life, I only heard about Recipes a couple month ago(June 20, 2015). A friend took me there and I loved it! I tried the Strawberry Cheesecake French Toast as well as the California Veggie Egg Benedict! And ever since the first time, I have been taking my friends there all the time now! The place is always packed so sometimes carryout is the way to go! EVERYONENEEDSTOCOMEHEREFORDELICIOUSBRUNCHFOOD! The coolest part too, the waitress knows how to write their names upside down on the white paper top table!

Really odd place. White table clothes and very cramped. I expected something really special.nice. it didnt happen. The potatoes with breakfast were exact same thing you would get at a Holiday Inn Express or worse. Square bagged pototoes deep fried. Come on now. How hard is it to cook fresh potatoes. It was just disapoint all the way around. Kinda sad really. Place could be more

I loved this place. I like local places. It gets busy so get there like 25 min before you get hungry. I had some of the weekend specials was very good but my husband had the salmons omelet and it was exquisite. Also we had pancakes and they were great. Love their breakfast menu, they had so many options to order. Can’t wait to be back and try more of those eggs

Definately a one of a kind restaurant. They only serve Breakfast and lunch. I came for breakfast. Its a «mom & pop» kind of shop… Not a chain or corporate restaurant. The hostess was great. Waitress was great too. Very quick with greeting, seating, and service. I never had to wait for anything from the time I walked in to the time I cashed out. The breakfast menu was VERY original and had 3 or more pages to choose from. I tried the California roll omelette… it was perfect. Coffee was good too. Overall very pleased. I will definitely be back. Now the bad part… It’s not at all flashy from the outside, not too flashy on the inside either, as it is small with many tables close together… you may sit next to some one & since seafood is on the menu it may smell like a seafood restaurant. The table menus request you do not Camp Out! Long story short don’t go here if you are fussy about smells, noise, or close personal space. If you want good service with a gourmet menu go here!

Possibly the worst eating atmosphere I’ve ever encountered in a restaurant. Showed up hungry for breakfast, and showing up to a restaurant and waited 30 minutes for a table. The dining area resembles a low-budget conference room, possibly a «before» shot from«Restaurant Impossible.» The people at the next table were literally 1 foot away from me and my friend. They actually interrupted our conversation several times with small talk just because the closeness was so awkward. The waitress scrawled her name on a paper tablecloth, and proceeded to go on about the specials. I don’t remember what I ordered, but I know I took at least two Xanax to help deal with the stress of being herded in like cattle at this nightmare of a restaurant. To be honest, I don’t even remember the food — all I wanted to do was get the hell out of there. The atmosphere completely ruined my entire dining experience. Never again. I would rather sit home and eat corn flakes than endure that nightmare. Hell no!

We had higher expectations for our first as we have always heard how great this place was supposed to be. My Husband ordered Oatmeal & Egg Whites, and I ordered the Crazy Greek Egg White Omelet. Portions were average. Service was average, but we were turned off by the fact that the staff were sitting at the front table eating and counting money. And a HUGE turn off was that the bathrooms were a complete mess. That makes me think about the staff that are working and handling food in the restaurant that have to share that space. First and last visit for us.

Well I hate to revamp my rating but I have had a problem the last 2 times there. In both instances I got the hummer sandwich with fries. In both cases they forgot the onion and the fries were cold. Today the server was better than the last time but no accommodation was made for the inconvenience of having my lunch date wait while I await my remade meal. I’m just getting sick of it. One time mistake, I can see that. Second time in a row, same mistake??? Someone needs to get a handle on the kitchen quality and customer experience. Oh and they’ve added«no camping» table tents. Taking a star off for that because it is so tacky I cannot ignore it. I know they want to turn tables but have some class. Good grief.

Cute little restaurant. Many options but average on the flavor. Need a little extra zing or flavor pop to the dishes. I’d go back because the service is great and if I’m not looking for anything unique but consistently fresh & good food.

I have to say, after seeing many of the recommendations here I have to concur with a great deal of them. The food was very very good, no it’s not five stare, but it is IMHO really affordable and worthy of four. The only negative I would say is that service was a little slow — friendly — but slow. I had the Lox Benny which was very very good, in the salmon was extremely fresh. My wife had the Recipes Benedict, which other than the fact that she didn’t realize it had tomato on it, she found extremely tasty. Even the coffee was tasty. If definitely recommend for brunch, just get there early, especially if your have we’re going for in your group.

One of the few brunch places in Troy. I loved coming here as I always feel at home. Even though there can sometimes be a wait, the food is definitely worth it. I also love that they give you crayons to draw on the paper clothes on the table. I’ve gotten their eggs benedict, crab thing, and salmon thing. All are very good. Honestly, don’t think you can go wrong with anything on their menu. They are very good at substituting food, i.e. more fruit less bagel. Will definitely be back!
