Mario Tailoring & Alterations

He was more interested in trying to be a salesman than a tailor. Instead of helping me get a perfect fit on my jacket, I tried on a revolving door of suit jackets from his shop. Found another tailor in the end.

I went in to get a button fixed on a suit jacket and was helped right away. He fixed it free of charge while providing friendly, excellent service.

This guy is awesome! You won’t find a more honest business man and excellent tailor. The suits and coats he sells are top notch. I used to go to Men’s Warehouse and never will again — I can’t believe I used to wear those high priced, cheap suits. His prices are very fair and he does amazing work!

I couldnt be happier with the professionalism Mario exudes. His craft and his skills are superior. I am now set on a tailor. He is a great man with excellent servive. Thanks again Mario!

Although I’ve never bought a suit from Mario yet, I have had my tailoring done from him a few times!
I had a costume suit for Halloween, where the suit fit but the pants were clown pants! He said, «Are you going to wear a jacket?». With the complete re-​cut he was going to have to do, he was worried about any imperfection showing… which there were none… and I won 3 costume contests that night! WIN!
I enjoyed his work so much, I took my wedding tux into have him do the alterations. Whether it’s a $ 99.00 suit, or a $ 1000.00 suit… the wear has always depended on your tailor. Does he, or does he not, know how to actually CUT a suit ONTO your body… not just some mannequin. Mario absolutely does!
The man has a lot of skill and talent, works quickly, the prices are reasonable… and MOST importantly: He will make you look FABULOUS!

Mario is by fat the best! I’ve taken suits, pants, and an overcoat to him for tailoring and he never disappoints. His work is beyond perfect. Recently, I took in two pairs of pants that I had tailored before at another location and wasn’t really happy with their work. So I took them to Mario and it now looks like the pants were made to measure. He took two pairs of pants that had a regular fit look and made them into comfortable slimmer fitting pants. Before I took them to Mario, I felt like I looked sloppy, not anymore. Another thing I like about him is that he always gives advice and tips. He’s honest and tells you what you need done and why. Needless to say I’ll be taking more and more of my clothes to Mario and I recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic tailor.

I had an oversized bomber jacket that needed to be slimmed down. the jacket itself was hard to work at. Thick, wool fiber, double layered construction, and overall, just NOT meant to be altered. Now this is where Mario comes into place! Mario’s prices are very, very reasonable, however, for this one, he had to be blunt with me, it will cost alot. I decided to went for it, and 2 weeks later, BAM! I was speechless with the finished product!!!

Mario is a quality tailor who knows his stuff. Slightly overpriced in my opinion but well worth it for the quality of work. He’s very busy but still manages to accommodate your needs. If I had the money, I would be buying suits directly from him but for now I’ll get less than Mario quality suits tailored to perfection.

Mario is amazing! I have a North Face jacket that wouldn’t zip, and he fixed it quickly and charged not a lot at all!

Unilocal did not lead me astray! I found Mario’s great reviews here and decided to go there myself and was not disappointed! He did a quick, affordable and fabulous job hemming a new dress! I’ll definitely be back!!!

I freaking love this guy. I took a dress and a skirt to him and he did a BEAUTIFUL job. Also, he’s honest. I had a pair of pants that I wanted him to take in and he was willing to do it, but explained how bad it would look. Honestly– I’ve dealt with tailors who will do anything you ask them to do, just to get the money, and Mario’s attitude and honesty is refreshing.

I live in California and was visiting family in Michigan for a few days. I had 2 suits and a pair of jeans in my suitcase that could have used some tailoring ! I brought them to Mario on a Wednesday right before prom time!
Mario was swamped with dozens of dresses to fix, but told me he could tailor one suit and the pair of jeans. He asked me to come pick them up on Saturday. However, a few hours later, I received a text from Mario telling me that my clothes were ready for pick up! Moreover he asked me to bring in the extra suit that he also tailored in a few hours.
I came in with boxy suits and left with unbelievable dapper slim fitting jackets and pants! Mario does an unbelievable job, fast, up-​to-​date and ridiculously affordable!
Can’t wait to visit the family in MI again so I can bring more clothes to Mario.

Mario is awesome! He repaired the zipper on my coat within a couple hrs because he knew how cold it was and that I needed my coat and he did a great job… I found my new tailor!

Note: I have used Unilocal for years, and selfishly I have used the mostly constructive input of the community without submitting any of my own. Mario, and my experience in his business, have inspired me to open an account to share my experience.
Simply put, a great service and customer experience at a great price!
Mario is the owner and tailor in this quaint Troy shop. Aside from his 40+ years of expertise, he executes quickly with an unparallelled level of customer service.
He was professional right out of the gate. The second I walked in with my new suit, he was assisting another customer. He quickly acknowledged me, and politely told me «I’ll be right with you my friend». Now, I didn’t need to be acknowledged, however, it speaks to his professionalism.
(Note: the aforementioned customer left glowing — out of the corner of my eye I’d seen her hand Mario a dress, he made about 200 passes with the sowing machine in about 60 seconds and her dress was altered — for no charge!)
Now, after I’d changed into my suit jacket and pants, he quickly realized I needed a longer suit and then asked me when I needed it ready for the event. I told him the event was in two weeks. He insisted I go to my suit retailer, get the correct size and if I delivered the suit in 2 – 3 days he could have it ready by the time of the event. I was grateful he could accommodate.
However, the story takes a turn, as when I returned to the suit retailer (not Mario), my suit size was not readily available — and needed to be shipped to my house. So, I returned to Mario with my suit 5 business days later, fully expecting that Mario would (rightfully) be unable to tailor the suit in time for the event (now just 4 days away). Fair enough, not Mario’s fault, at least my suit would be ready for any other future event.
I had underestimated Mario.
He turned the suit around in just 1.5 business days and it fit perfectly! He told me «I promised you the suit before the event, I will deliver.» He had no control over the shipping delay, but he went above and beyond to deliver not only on a timely basis, but with exceptional execution!
Last but not least, I can not overstate the friendliness and level of professionalism this man exhibits. I could go on, but in short, if you have any reservations, just take your business to Mario. You will not be disappointed, in fact, you’ll leave with that rare feeling of deep consumer satisfaction that can only result from a business that takes pride in their work at a great value.

I’ve been in here twice. Mario does good work, does it quickly, and does it for a reasonable price.

Short story:
OUTSTANDING. Amazing work and is very up-​to-​date on men’s fashions. Went out of his way to finish my suit jacket in a few hours!
Long story:
I came in from out of town (Lansing) to have some major adjustments to my suit jacket. I needed the sleeves lengthened, some material removed from the upper sleeve, and needed material removed from the center of the back of the suit to bring the shoulders back. I also needed my pant legs lengthened. I came in last minute on the afternoon of ¹²⁄₂₆ and was hoping he could finish by 12/​30, in time for NYE.
As soon as I put on the suit, Mario knew exactly what needed to be done to fit the style that I wanted. He was professional, very friendly, and transparent with what he was going to do. With the amount of work needed to be done, I expected the jacket and pants to be ready on ¹²⁄₃₀. About 2 hours after I left his shop, Mario called me to tell me it was all ready for me to pick up. Boy was I glad that I decided to stick around the area for a bit before heading back to Lansing.
When returning to the store, I tried on the suit and it fit like a glove. He was able to salvage a very ill-​fitting suit in almost no time. I couldn’t be happier. On top of that, Mario even refused to take the tip I would have loved to give.
Mario’s 5 star rating is no joke. I wholeheartedly recommend Mario’s work and will definitely be back!

Very friendly and down to earth staff! I was helped by Mario as soon as I went in the store. I showed him my pair of Selvedge raw denim of which the crotch had started to blow out. He explained to me all of the things he had to do (patch and sew) and I picked it up 2 hours later with no express charge! The patch was inside and the sewing was barely visible. He did a very good job patching in a way that fixed the hole and prevented from any future blowouts. Definitely recommend this place to anyone needing any work done on their clothes and from what I’ve seen he also sells custom suits. Every guy has that one pair of their favorite jeans and you can definitely trust this guy to take care of any problems.

He finished a bridesmaid dress in 2 hours! Amazing! I highly recommend Mario!

I’ve been to many tailors and Mario is def #1. He does a great job slimming down dress shirts and tapering pants. Fellas if you want a modern look Mario is the man!

I only needed two pairs of pants hemmed, but my experience was very good. Mario was very professional, reasonable, and quick. His standard hemming is next day. Only rub is that he’s cash-​only. Definitely recommend! Maybe one of these days I’ll return for a suit!
