Kelly’s Butcher Shop & Deli

This place is a hidden gem! They have a variety of items on the menu and the food is great. It did not take long at all– even during the lunch rush! Large portions and it’s cheap too! The gyro was amazing. I can’t wait to try the Reuben soup when I go back.

Kelly’s has great meat, a great deli and the employees are always very friendly. I have lived in Troy for almost 15 years and I’ve bought meat here plenty of times.
They also have hot food options in their deli. I haven’t had one in a long time but they used to have really great pulled pork sandwhiches.

Best butcher in the area. I’ve been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The guys cutting up tenderloins are masters at the artwork they do to those cuts of meat. Did I forget to mention it’s ridiculously cheap compared to any other store?
I don’t get the meat in the case, I prefer to get a tenderloin pulled out of the fridge and freshly trimmed. Check out the picture I posted, that’s what it looks like after it’s cooked perfectly!

I have come here since I was about 20. They have always had the best meat and best prices in town. The have a good selection of bbqing essentials.
Where else can you get bacon wrapped filets for $ 9.99 a pound?
They have remodeled the store. It is very nice compared to how it used to be. Everything else is like a convenience store (ie limited selection and higher prices.)

I have lived in Troy now since 2003 and let me tell you that I would have never believed you if you told me before I moved there that the best place in town would be the gas station! I don’t buy meat anywhere but here and everything they have is awesome and fresh. They always seem to have sales going on and its never stuff that you don’t want. Their filet’s are awesome all the way down to their hamburger. While your there you might as well get you some Trenton bacon at the deli because you cant find any better tasting bacon around. Nice clean place.

I love locally and love using the 4 – 0! Great service every time our family visits. Pork steaks and buffalo meat are amazing.

The beef jerky here is the best I’ve had… ever!
If you are looking for some beef jerky so good you’ll make trips into town just for it then this is the place for you!
I moved to the other side of St. Louis for school but I still buy all my jerky from these guys!

I’ve been coming here for years to get my steaks. When my dad first told me about this place and said to go to the butcher shop in the back of the gas station, I was skeptical. But this place is a hidden gem. They can cut to order, or they have a good selection in their meat case. They also have frozen meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables (onion rings, etc.) in the frozen food case. In their refrigerated case, there’s a good selection of local vegetables. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because they don’t carry grass-​fed beef.
There’s a deli where you can get cold cuts or cheeses made into a sandwich to eat there or by the pound to take home.
Tip: look like a regular by knowing to pay for your Kelly’s purchases at the gas station register.

Very good quality meats, nice folks

Kelly’s Butcher Shop resides in the back of a gas station/​convenience store. They have a fair selection of meats, to include lunch meats and cheeses. Full service butcher services are limited, and most special curs can’t be done immediately. Caution when making special/​unique orders. My wife ordered seven pounds of sliced pork belly, which was promised to her the next day at 4:00 PM. At the time of pick-​up, they told us that not only was the order not ready, but that the pork belly had not come in that day. Said they «forgot» to call and let her know! Good thing she didn’t need it for a party!
They do have a deli on site, and appear to do pretty good lunch business. But I can’t comment on that, because I didn’t partake. But judging from the number of people there, it must be pretty good.
More to come, if I am suddenly impressed with their customer service.

Great deals on meat! I am so lucky this place is on the way home.

Known locally as «The Four-​Oh,» (it’s off old US 40), this is a gas station /​mini-​mart /​butcher and sandwich shop. The selection of wine and beer is pretty good, certainly good enough to forego a midweek trip to a larger grocery. The sandwich shop, which you can enter through the gate on the south side, offers reasonably priced fare and friendly service. Check out the freezer case for good deals on meat. The prior reviews about the filet mignon are correct; I’m not sure that you would believe my report of the price I found, so I’m keeping it to myself.

Ever heard of getting your gas and your meat all in the same place? Well, I hadn’t until some friends of ours recommended that we go to Kelly’s Butcher Shop. We stopped by over the weekend and stocked up on kabobs and filets for a BBQ we were having. Like everyone else has said, the selection is great and the prices can’t be beat! If you’re planning on grilling, this is the place to go.

Great little deli and butcher shop will some hellaciously good sale prices and first rate meats. The service is friendly and they know their meat. The only warning is their breakfast sausage. It’s pretty lean but it’s ungodly salty. If they’d cut back the salt and add some sage, thyme and pepper it would rock. I get them to run a pork butt through the grinder and add my own spices at home. They are in the back of the convenience store/​gas station and have really unique things that you can’t find anywhere else.

GREAT prices on bacon wrapped filet mignon… anywhere between $ 6.99 and $ 8.99 per pound. I have to admit that at that price I don’t get much else here ;)
I do get their lunch specials for carry out from time to time. They fax the sheet to our office every two weeks!!! It’s the normal soups and deli sandwiches along with a comfort food type option as well. on Fridays they are usually grilling burgers, brats, and pork steaks too!
We have them cater our office Christmas party each year and they do a great job. Huge shrimp for a shrimp cocktail platter and a great selection of deli sandwiches. The also have good specials in there deli meats and cheeses so what their ads in the local newspapers! ;)

The only weird thing about this shop is it is located in a gas station but I guess that’s what you get for being in the middle of Southwest Illinois. You can’t get better meat. They have homemade brats and sausages too!
